Those wily mod-makers! Will they ever learn? First, it's breast-showing mods leading to ratings changes (http://1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3150264), now Reuters (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060504/us_nm/security_videogames_dc_4) reports that Islamists are modifying Battlefield 2 (http://1up.com/do/gameOverview?cId=3142001) to have players gun down U.S. troops.

Sure, it's shocking to Americans, but it shouldn't be. Evil is relative -- when our modmakers and game developers (http://1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3150396#) pit Chinese and Middle Easterners as "popular" villains in our games -- should we really be surprised to see Americans portrayed as villains in countries where our presence might be unwanted? Is it okay to point the gun at them and balk when the sight is lowered against us?

Are they really 'the bad guys' in BF2 though? I've never seen anything in BF2 to make the Chinese or Arab soldiers be portrayed as evil or anything other than an advisary of the American soldiers. It wouldn't be a game if it was the British v. Canada v. USA. First of all, we'd kick the shit out of the other two, and second, their our allies. Now that Nazis and Communists are out of the picture it's hard enough to come up with a reputable enemy for the U.S. Why do you think so many movies and games still use Communists and Nazis? It's why there are so many WWII games, son. Anyone remember that game Freedom Fighters? I loved that game, but how fucking logical is it for the Red Army to take over the United States in this day and age? It may be a raw deal, but the Chinese, Middle Easterners and the North Koreans are the only option anymore for bad guys, and the North Korean thing is becoming a little played out as well. Besides, I don't think most Americans would know the difference between Chinese and North Koreans if they were the opposing forces in BF2.

BTW this post is only 18% serious.
