mickessendon
i don't get it, the career mode is so frustrating to win, i go from first to tenth in a second and has nothing to do with skill its just luck if you came first. I play on 2,000cc btw (even tried 1,000cc)and i get spammed with seeker bubbles or other cars getting teleported way in front of me. Does anyone else have this problem? because codemasters is really starting to annoy me with the difficulty
MasterSparky
agreed. too much luck involved. it needs a patch.
SatNiteEduardo
Don't agree. First 10 champs done. Restarted 2 events only. Always use Vettel so you can get a boost from drafting. Always use it up before you get to power ups. Leanr if you are in a vulnerable position in the pack and keep defensive power ups until needed. With refuel events keep your fuel in the bottom quarter of tank. Trophy chase go as quick as you can or use different routes. AI usually go for the key so do not follw them. Any game mode people want help with ask here or send me a message on live and I will help.
Misfit Kracker
This game sucks to high heaven. Just cause few don't have a problem winning doesn't mean it's easy to win.(unrealistic) Just my opinion. mickessendon
ok well i have trid playing it again and again and i can easily say this game is frustrating. Funny cause at my local jb hi fi, they have the game available to play and it is very easy to win then, but when i try the game on my tv, i would be lucky to come in the top five. Honestly i don't understand why that happens, even on 1,000cc the other racers go at the same speed at you so have to rely on powerups which are useless unless u r coming last (which is unfair if u r coming first since the last one just teleports in front of you). Seriously its almost like codemasters don't care about their customers and we would be lucky to get a difficulty patch unless this game sold well- which i doubt
metallicafan459
Can't say i'm having as much frustrations as some people! My only hint would be to try using Vettel or Webber for their slipstream boost! Handy as an extra powerup when not in 1st! Other than that just make sure you take all the shortcuts! I have major frustrations with the locked shortcuts so would just avoid those!
Slim Panatella
I have found that doing the gold time trials has helped with winning in career mode as you learn the quickest route for each course thus being able to use it to your advantage. unmatchedskills has made a video guide for the time trials in the 'Time Trials - Tips & Tricks' thread which should assist for the best routes to take. metall2ica
This game sucks to high heaven. Just cause few don't have a problem winning doesn't mean it's easy to win.(unrealistic) Just my opinion. its not supposed to be realistic, its a piss take that supposed to be fun and me and my mates/kids enjoy it life is about more than achievements
krizalidash
Is easy for veteran race players! I already finish every champz with gold, and all gold time trial, 47/49 achievz in 2 days, +- 4~5 hours per day.
mickessendon
Ok well i have done every event in career mode except one and the game has gotten slightly easier (or maybe i just got a little bit better), but i am having trouble with the exhibition expo event (the one where u get badges to score) - does anyone have some tips about that event? Gone4aDuck
I'm convinced this game is stuck on 3000cc. I've noticed that on 3000cc the other drivers all get perfect starts. But just occasionally none of them do. When they don't, the races are really easy to win. So I'm sure even if you set it to 1000cc it's somehow glitched and starts on 3000cc. Had high hopes for this after the demo. But it's just to infuriating to be played as a fun game. If I had a pound for every time I've been first for 95% of the race then on the last corner come in at 5th or worse, Ide be a rich man indeed. Bloody game! lol
k1ll1ng5pr33
Same problem here. Playing on PS3 though. Did the first few events without a problem, now I seriously for the life of me can't finish 1st. Whatever I do, I just can't. I either get blasted with power ups, or they somehow boost right up in front of me in the last 200 meters or so. Also funny how the AI always get the beginning boost. I mean, it's easy to get the beginning boost, but it would've been better if the AI somehow failed at some points. The retarded rubberband effect isn't helping either. It's fucking ridiculous. -EDIT- Ok, the difficulty might actually glitch on you. Posted this over @ PS3T Ok, it's definitely glitched and there's a solution. Delete your save file and start over. I did the first 2 events on 1000cc and tried 3000cc afterwards. Seems it got actually stuck on 3000cc. Deleted my save file and started over and now I can easily win. Some of the AI don't even use the starting boost on 1000cc. Previously, all of them used the starting boost. It seems if you decide to switch to 3000cc at some point, and go back, it might glitch and keep the difficulty on 3000cc no matter what difficulty you choose afterwards. PS. It will still favor the AI like a bitch, not to mention the retarded rubberband effect. Edited March 1, 2013 by k1ll1ng5pr33
NightReflection
I thought that the game was impossible when i first started playing it, but the more you play it the more easier and understandable it gets. 1) Play career on 1000cc (If you are after the win on 3000cc achievements see my guide for an alternate and much easier way) 2) See unmatchedskills video for shortcuts, some help big time, some dont really do much) 3) Learn the tracks, after a few tries you seem to get a pattern of where to be on the track. 4) if you are in first place and hit a powerup keep it if its a Bubble or a Ricochet bubble, these come in handy when a Homing bubble comes after you, look behind you when its fairly close and use your power up (remember you can fire ricochet bubbles backwards!) This can save you from damaging your car but also from dropping places. 5) Use jump boosts, as soon as your car is off the floor let go of the gas and then hit the gas before you land to get a small boost, these help big time!!! Its not an easy 1000 but then again its not a hard 1000 (i managed to hit 1000 last night)
YiazmatXII
Before playing the game, I thought this topic was ridiculous. After playing it for around 2 weeks, I now agree with OP. To win some races is relatively easy, to win others is just plain impossible. I've won a race on 3,000cc on all tracks, set all silver, and half of them gold on time trial. My biggest issue is the career. One prime example of this is the 18th one - in which there are no power ups. Regardless of engine size, it's virtually impossible to get past any racer. They all follow the EXACT same line, and never lose damage to their car (unless you phyically hit them). Therefore, if you're last, you can never win. This particular one made me rage quit and fucked my HDMI cable in the process. Conclusion: WINNING is too hard, but to actually get all achievements isn't as hard as it seems. The game is just severely broken, and doesn't make it much fun.
siderinc
The biggest problem i had at first was treating it like a Mario Kart game. It looks the same acts the same but is very diffrent. If you know at least this it makes it alot easier. But still some of the short cuts are to good to miss
YiazmatXII
After playing more, I don't think winning is too hard at all. I think I had not played the game long enough. The reason I say this is because after I have fully got to grips with it, the whole game is so easy. I'm even ranked 17th in the world on Abu Dhabi! 3 seconds under the Gold Lap time!! thegavman
"After playing more, I don't think winning is too hard at all. I think I had not played the game long enough. The reason I say this is because after I have fully got to grips with it, the whole game is so easy." That is the exact way I felt. I actually bought the cheap when it first became cheap and just quit 2 or 3 cups in. However, I found it for $10 recently and thought about giving it a second chance. Trust me, once the KERS system and jump boosts become second nature, it is all about those moments of that scandalous AI ripping you off. "My biggest issue is the career. One prime example of this is the 18th one - in which there are no power ups. Regardless of engine size, it's virtually impossible to get past any racer. They all follow the EXACT same line, and never lose damage to their car (unless you physically hit them). Therefore, if you're last, you can never win." These took me a while to figure out. First, slipstream like nobody's business. You may not get Vettel or Webber's power-up, but you will still gain momentum like in real life. The most important thing to avoid getting hit. The settings for most of those for damage are "Fragile" if I remember. Also, do NOT bump other vehicles. When your car is damaged - I mean sparking, you go much slower. Of course clipping your apexes, using KERS to maximum, and all of that good stuff helps too. :-) I am down to 4 cups playing with 1,000 cc and then I hopefully start TT tonight after some errands, so the adventure is far from over for me, even at 535G... :-)
