Its probably one of a few titles that cost $49.99 dollars for this generation which was a norm back in PS2/Xbox/GCN days.

Any reasons why it cost $49.99? Is it because its more of an expansion game that could have release DLC for Dead Island? Or is it a sequel to Dead Island?

They said its cheaper because of the waning of the current console generation. its the end of a console cycle- we think this price makes a lot more sense given that" is what they had to say about it, I think thats pretty cool of them making it cheaper because of the new consoles coming soon.

It is not a full sequel. They've already announced that it's basically an expansion pack that's too big to fit for DLC. They weren't done with these characters stories so they did not make a 'sequel'.

It's cheaper because they say it's the end for this current gen so they're putting the price down but I see it as what they did with Halo Anniversary and such games. It's not a sequel so don't charge it that way.

The devs stated it was due to the fact that PS3/360 are coming to an end of their time.

Hopefully that's the true reason. I would hate to see if it's cheap due to low quality.

Dont anticipate a AAA or even an AA title.

If you enjoy co-op zombie games, then this is for you. Luckily it is $49.99 as well.

Considering that they re-used a ton of assets from the first game, they didn't have to spend money creating it, so the development cost would've been a bit cheaper, too.

I've come across a few games at release that were 49.99. some of them weren't that good. I'm hopping this game proves that track record wrong.

I'd like to see other games do this. I know that EA won't for a fact.

Wow that is awesome they are releasing it for only $50. I may actually buy it instead of renting it and beating it. Finally a game company does something that is not a full on jerk move.

It also didn't have that massive a PR campaign as apposed to the original, from all the early reviews I've been seeing alot of them throw out the word mediocre.

No games... none, not a single game, no matter how good they are, are worth more than $50. All games should be NO MORE than $50. Devs wouldn't need to worry as much about used games, if they didn't charge to damn much for new games. I know for me personally, I'd buy new far more, if I wasn't play $70 (with tax) for a new game. Actually, I won't anymore. GTA5 is the exception, since I pre-paid for that a while back, but as of now, I will NOT spend $70 ever again, on a game.
