Shaaady Souljah
silver is free and does not allow you to play online multiplayer in games... it is lame. gold is $50 a year or something along those lines...
DoM cAbAn
You should already have the Silver Membership. The only real difference is that with Gold, you actually can play on Xbox Live. You can't play online with Silver. So, in your position, get the Gold Membership. Edit: Shady beat me to it.
DrH3rbz
Gold also allows various features on xbox.com such as messaging from your PC among others, I get trial codes off of eBay which work out much cheaper in the long run, and also as I don't play online everyday. But with them they only allow you to play online. Tis annoying not having gold though as I have to find and plug in my keyboard every now and then to reply to messages etc.
Zef
Actually, some games will let you play online multiplayer with Silver accounts. Usually you are then blocked from ranked matches in return. Although there may have been an update to stop that. But getting Gold is much better even if you are paying. Try it for a month or so and then decide if you like it or not and remember that Gold subscriptions can be paid in whole year chunks or just a few months if you don't want to splash out right away. antnie
I would get gold. Even if you start xbox you should get 1 month free.
Royal38
Gold is the only way to go. If you want to play online with others, and download trial version's of a game.
antilucid
Every now and then, microsoft will have content exclusive only to gold members like a free theme or gamerpic (and stuff along those lines)
