View Full Version : easiest (and how to) do the 100% bass upstrum achievement?

What song does anyone who has the achievement with the bass upstrum use to get it?
Would it work easily if i play as lefty (as usual) in a mirror, but keep it set as right handed and just tap down?
How can you just play as bass?

OK Go's "Here It Goes Again" is what i played to get the bass achievement. I found it to be quite simple and got it on the second try. As for playing in a mirror, i just played normal and just did the upstroke. Its not as hard as you think.

i just did this song after i saw this. i got 100% and didnt get the achievement! hmmph

...now im wondering if you HAVE to have the RB guitar to do this, maybe it registers somehow on that controller ONLY the upstrokes.
I did it two times 100% with a GH3 controller, and no achievement.

You have to upstroke the entire song including the free solo at the end. I didn't even touch the guitar during the solo so that i wouldn't screw something up that close to the end. That would be my only guess as to why u didn't get it unless you just accidentally down stroked somewhere in the song.
Although i did get it using the RB guitar so i don't know if the guitar matters or not but i wouldn't think so, its just a controller after all.

The GH2&3 guitars are probably not set up to send a different code for up and down strokes. You more than likely need to use the RB guitar.

ill have to try the solo ending thing.. as i think i might have pressed it then
EDIT: that was it, just didnt do the end free jam thing and it worked!

I FCed Mississippi Queen on my X-plorer w/ only upstrokes and I got the achievement.

I have done it twice: Once on Say It A'int So and one other time on Wanted Dead or Alive. I would say go with Dead or Alive as it is mostly held notes.

Little tidbit of info: even if you don't hit a note with it (such as you just strum where there's not a note, or on a Big Finish), strumming down at ANY TIME automatically denies the achievement.
Just got mine on Quickplay, on Here it goes again on Bass-Expert, with Lefty Mode on with the Gibson Les Paul from GH3. That should clear up a lot of controversy over how you can get it.

just play as lefty (as i am too) in a mirror. Keep it set to righty on the gamedata and just downstrum all your notes. Its set to righty so your downstrokes will be it's upstrokes.
Use OK GO Here it goes again, and do NOT do anything in the ending shenanigans and you will get it. EASY SONG

Mississippi Queen is super easy for this as well. That's what I used. I got it using the GH3 Les Paul. I didn't use Lefty Flip.

Say it Ain't So was the one I got it on, theres only like 190 somthing notes in it.

I did it on Maps...took 2 tries, using the Les Paul. Incredibly easy bass line.

if your using the strat then you have to use the big buttons to get it using the solo buttons i guess counts as a strum i did it 2 times with the solo no achievement and then when i used the big buttons i got it right away

i think dead or alive would be easiest because its pretty much all held notes for bass

Mississippi Queen ftw.
I found it to be a lot more easy than OkGo

Extremely short song and is easy as hell. Got it first try. The OkGo song really pissed me off since I messed up on the multiple strums part...
