WOW!! Was just browsing the forums and stumbled on this. Knocked me off my feet with supprise. I have heard not even a drop of anything about this. Not for 360 or anyother system for that matter.

Gotta say if this is indeed on it's way to 360, I for one am quite excited. Always liked the karaoke revolution games. Achievements and all, along with downloadable songs on Xbox live would make this the best karaoke revolution yet.

Anyway, if anyone knows anything at all about this, or has any info at all, please please do post. I would love to hear about it.

It is being developed by Blitz Games, published by Konami, scheduled to be released on or around January 2nd, 2008...

I will see if I can get any more info, but Konami has been real shifty about talking much to me. :p

Thanks David Creech very much for the info! Maybe you could get something more outa konami? :) Pry that info outa them, do whatever it takes! lol

I'll keep digging for info...song list probably being the most important piece for this game.

there was pitch recognition software in the last games I played (which allowed for cheating) but hopefully this one will pick up on the lyric's actual pronunciation too

Doesn't Rock Band have pronunciation detection? IF they can do it, Karaoke should be able to as well.

No, Rockband does not care about the words. Your score is based on timing and pitch. I really hope American Idol Encore is a bit more challenging.

The funny thing is that it claims to be the #1 singing game in America, but it isn't even out yet...They must be referring to the Karaoke Revolution line, but that isn't really what the page says...

Thanks, finally a little more info. I checked konami's site before but nothing was on it.

We know they won’t be scoring based of pronunciation now.

It says: "The #1 singing game series in America"...I think that’s correct

Creech
01-17-2008, 02:55 PM
Heh...I think that is correct...but I am pretty sure when I checked it yesterday, it didn't say "series." Maybe they are reading this thread to keep a feel of the pulse of the community, and edited it. They DO know we exist, I have spoken to several people there.

I'm pretty happy with those 14 songs, but I'm praying that there's more than just 14. I've owned about 20 different dance dance revolution games, and those are made by konami, and they pretty routinely screw up the song selection in those games.

You know what would be really cool? If they made it so you could change the pitch/key of the song. I mean, in KR2 what dude could sing that Whitney Houston - And I Will Always Love You without really straining his voice? I'm sure there'll be a few songs like that this time too. Most karaoke software comes with this feature (to change the key of the song), and now that they're using the American Idol name- American Idol lets you pick what key you want to sing your song in. But watch. I guarantee you this game isn't going to let you pick what key you want to sing in. And 40 songs is still not enough. Other than that, I can't wait to play this!

(EDIT: Also try singing that Whitney Houston song without laughing, or sounding like a nutjob to your neighbors =)

A quote from Wiki's Karaoke Revolution (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karaoke_Revolution) page:

"The game adapts to the player singing in a different octave than the song, to accommodate players whose vocal ranges do not fit the song."

I've had no experience with the Karaoke Revolution games, so I can't confirm whether this is true or not. But if it is, it gives me some relief, because being a mezzo soprano, I can go neither too low nor too high.

Hmmm. A different OCTAVE than the song. (I understand why that is, because guitar tuners work like that too.) That's a lot different than moving the song up or down by half steps. I have about 20,000 karaoke songs on a computer program, and I adjust the key on most of the songs I practice. But I never remember moving the key up or down an entire octave ever. Not only that, it's hard to stay in tune through an entire song while you try to sing an octave lower or higher than you should be.

If they pick too many high pitched songs like they did in the last Karaoke Revolution, and don't let us lower the key, it's going to be hard for guys to get the achievements. Our throats are going to get sore trying!

And yes, singing an octave lower (for guys) or higher (for girls) works, it's the only way I can get through Knockin On Heaven's Door without breaking glass.
