kyosh1ro
Okay, my brother just bought me a Halo 3 faceplate for christmas and it came with 2 console skinz. They look very, very nice but they come in the package all rolled up and creased?!?! After 10 extremely frustrating moments trying to install them flat on my console just resulted in further creases Any tips on how to install these things?? Because I would really like to get them on my console, they look fantastic.
Distilled84
I've never dealt with trying to install console skins before. But maybe if you tried to flatten them out a little before installing you might have a little better luck. Try placing it between two heavy books overnight or even for a couple of days and then put it on the console.
badgerodoom
But it's not Christmas... i amz confused. Anyway do what distilled said, and if you wanna take a little risk with melting them you could try ironing them before the iron is searing hot(not hot enough to melt, but make warm and workable). But uh i have no idea what they are made of so i shall not be held responsible...
razzleson
This link is specifically for Decal Girl skins, but I can't imagine the process being much different. The installation tips are very detailed, so you shouldn't have any problems at all. Enjoy! http://console.hardocp.com/article.html?art=OTQwLDEsLGhjb25zb2xl EDIT; Here's a Google video too! Sanction
The main thing is try to avoid getting air bubbles. They're a bitch to fix and you rarely can fix them once the vinyl is in place. Good luck with it though. Post pictures if you can!
LethalRope
Air bubbles do suck thats why i just got a ready made gears faceplate much easier to put on .
kyosh1ro
Thanks for the tips guys, that website looks especially helpful. I guess I'm going to try following that and getting my brother to help me, four hands should work much better than two..I will post some pictures of the completed 360 when I get around to it, ideally it will look like this: http://madcatz.com/Default.asp?Page=374&CategoryImg=Xbox_360_Faceplates (I have the master chief one)
Stinkyf1re
Hey Kyosh1ro... I got the same thing, a halo faceplate with console skins. They came folded and i had read about the problems with air bubbles so here's what i suggest. A) After opening the package, i placed the two console skins on a flat surface with 2 large books, roughly the same size as the skin, on top of each skin. Let it sit like that for an hour or two. B) Take the skin, and gently remove the plastic. Now is when you start applying the skin C) Get an inch ruler. Line up the top of the skin with the top of your 360. Stick the VERY top of the skin to the top of your xbox, and SLOWLY AND GENTLY glide down the rest of the skin. Only stick a few centimeters at a time and after each short little distance, use the ruler to flatten out the creases and make sure no air bubbles are getting in. D) Repeat the process with the other skin! Afterwards you should have a nice badass looking 360. It worked for me Check out my 360!!! http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa33/Stinkyf1re/H3legen2.jpg NO air bubbles! Hope that helped!, Stinky EDIT: Make SURE you go from top-to-bottom when you are applying the skin and are careful not to get ahead of yourself. If you take your time and are careful, youll end up with a great looking 360 skin
