With the amount of people I see asking about arcade games and wondering what to do with their MS points... I felt what better resource could there be...than a thread dedicated to such a subject.

Here you can find out; which arcade games are the ones to buy, which are the ones to afford...and most importantly how much of your electro-currency are you going to have to part with.

Firstly the games will have two ratings.

One- Game Rating - ***** (This will be ranked with stars ranging from 1-5, 1 being bad-5 being good)

Two- Ease of Achievements - ***** (This will also be ranked with stars ranging from 1-5, 1 being HARD achievements-5 being EASY achievements.)

Three- Replay Value - ***** (From 1-5 will it be worth playing or not? Look into the stars!)

This game is good fun, but can get very repetitive. There are many add on packs for it which will cost more MSP, and are probably not worth the time or money. The achievements for this game are incredibly easy...you should know where to find the guide, but here's the link anyway ;).

All in all if you are looking for an easy 200 points and a value for money multiplayer game then 3D Ultra Minigolf is a worthy purchase.

If you like pool then this should keep you entertained for a long time, with over 15 different game modes this doesn't get boring too fast.
The achievements however are a different story, It is an easy 200, but it is definatly not the shortest 200 you'll get. The win ** games achievements will take up to 10 hours and it can get boring doing the same thing over and over again. The game still however has an online fanbase and you can easily match up with someone during peak live hours.

This game is a classic and is more than worth the 800 MSP price tag, the online multiplayer although at times laggy, is great fun and the offline isn't that bad either. If you hook up with 3 friends all of the achievements can be boosted reasonably quick and the offline ones are not that hard at all. A certain 200.

A classic card game is now a classic arcade game. For 5 bucks you can play the World's favorite card game. The achievements can all be achieved in less than a day, and with the most populated online community, you will always have someone to play against. Although there are a lot of people online, you will usually get booted if you don't have a vision camera or simply if the host doesn't like you. With a few downloadable decks with different game modes, it pushes the replay value up a bit more, but the game gets very repetitive. If you have the points, and you are looking for a late night game, look no further!

This game is one of the most underrated games on Xbox live. Outpost is a quirky and fun tycoon like game. You build trading and mall outposts in space in order to build special buildings or make a certain amount of money. There are two campaign modes, along with downloadable scenarios and challenges. The achievements are a bit hard, so don't be expecting an easy 200 points from this one, but you can get some with videos from youtube. the replay value of this game is incredibly high, as there are over 20 missions and challenges to play.

May be one of the most fun side scrollers on the planet... chewing peoples heads, shooting lasers and to think all of this came from an online flash game!!
If you like Metal Slug or any game of that sort then this could be worth the 800 to you. However one of the big let downs is the tricky achievements that are there to unlock and is a tough 200.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/guide.php?gameID=191 (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../guide.php?gameID=191)

You never know, as with a lot of these games if you like the genre and/or a challenge then it's probably worth purchasing. If that doesn't apply to you...then steer clear.

Another arcade legend, but sadly a bit easier than I remembered it... you can get 185 points in one run through which is a good selling point and the 400MSP price doesn't turn many noses away from it. The final achievement is a challenge and will take a while. If you are just going for the points however I suggest buying this game.

This is the most free flowing, fun and downright awesome football game of all time. Forget your Pro Evo's and your Fifa's this was and probably still is the best soccer game on the market... Management, Gameplay...and now ONLINE SUPPORT!!! you cannot get better value for money on the marketplace than SWOS.. this IS SOCCCCARRRRRR (300 Reference necessary) Plus the achievements are well... simple.. I had the offline 165 in 40 minutes and got the online ones a day later.

The only downside is...if you don't like soccer... you'll probably avoid this like the plague. What a shame.

The best arcade game on Xbox Live, period. This game is the most addictive and time wasting fun. The concept and controls are terribly simple. You shoot different geometric figures for points and use the two joysticks to move and shoot, and a trigger to use a bomb. No one really know why this game is addictive, but it is. The achievements are hard, but depending on skill they are achievable. If you have any Microsoft points, you should go this game!

A port of the classic arcade game, Joust is a coin-op game with a simple formula. You play a knight on a large bird jousting with other knights. Though the game starts out easy, as you complete each 'Wave', more enemies spawn and lava consumes platforms so staying safe becomes harder. The achievements are very difficult, and there are few that have legitimately completed the game.

A port of the popular PC game that was originally played over large computer networks before online gaming. It's a very good port, with single player and online multiplayer. GripShift is an Arcade Racer which requires a bit of skill but at the same time luck to collect all the stars, zoom to a fast time and to collect the "GripShift" logo on one of the many levels. There are many difficulties ranging from Beginner to Hell. If you don't feel like completing in these challenges, there's always races with power-ups. Remind you of anything? The races are pretty quick which add to the ease of the achievements.
Multiplayer is great fun but unfortunately there is no offline multiplayer. Other than that, GripShift is one of my favourite XBOX Live Arcade titles.

Personally this was my favourite Arcade game on the marketplace until SWOS came out last week. It's a great single player challenge and an even better multiplayer game, be it with friends or online versus 3 others via live. 11 achievements are easy the 12th can be a right pain the backside if you struggle with the hammer throw... but definatly a doable 200 points.

This game is great, it has greatness...it emits the power of being GREAT!... and for 400MSP it seems like we are robbing sega here. An online co-op mode thrown in too (so you don't even have to be sitting next to your buddy while slaying a death adder.) The 200 is fairly easy and can be achieved in around 1 hour if you have a buddy to play online with. The only major downside to Golden Axe is that its too short and you could breeze through the whole game in half an hour.

A game I remember from the Amiga500//Mega Drive days...It were great then and it's great now. Sidescrolling acrobatic action would be the best way to describe it and it really is great fun. The achievements are majority story based except for two fairly hard ones including an undefeated game one. But don't let that put you off its a good 150 at best.

In this game they mix RPG elements and Puzzles, now I'm not a big fan of puzzles but this game really surprise me the puzzles never seem to get annoying as the system is easy to grasp, If you've ever play the old game Bejeweled you'll notice a few similarities. But for me the great part of this game wasn't the puzzles it was the other elements you can choose a class, level up your skills, choose which allies you want to use (All of which have special bonuses), Train mounts, Capture people, and even take over cities (so if you can't tell there’s a lot to do). And to make this game even better the achievements almost all unlock as you play through the story or do the really easy stuff there is really only one challenging achievement in the game (Master Craftsman). But the bad thing about this game is the replay value after you finish this game you don't exactly feel a burning desire to play through it again but I think that first play through is definitely worth the points I've had more fun with this than I've had with a lot of Retail games.

Boogie Bunnies is a puzzle game in which you have to pair up three or more of the same color bunny. The bunnies are all moving down screen until they drop in the water which causes you to lose. Graphics for the game are colorful, kids should love this game. The game is actually quite long, the achievements are obtainable, but require time (5-10 hours). You can play local co-op, co-op over xbox live, or just play one of three single player modes. Matching certain colors of bunnies gives certain effects: Cyan Bunnies make all the bunnies "boogie" increasing the amount of points for each combination, Red Bunnies cause an explosion which knocks out adjacent bunnies, Purple Bunnies knock out full columns and rows.
Not a bad game if you like puzzles, again children should have a blast with it, or wifes who enjoy a good puzzle game.

Poker Smash is a mix and match game best explained as a "Poker meets Bejewled/Tetris" combo. The gameplay is simple, you move around cards (Ace, face cards, and 10) in order to make hands of 3-of-a-kind and up, the largest being a 9 flush, which is 9 aligned cards having the same suit.
An extra in-game feature, the Poker Smash Store, allows players to spend points earned in both the Arcade and Timed game modess to buy unique gamerpics, maps, and even the solutions to the Puzzle mode.
Possibly what keeps this game so replayable is the online multiplayer, which is basically a tug-of-war match between you and your opponent, ending with one side reaching the top (and losing), or gaining all 100,000 points.
A tournament game mode allows up to 5 people to battle it out over the poker chips, in a 'winner takes all' fight.

The achievements in Poker Smash are a fairly difficult set, the hardest of which is Chain Monster, where you must create a x24 chain all at once, something that is much easier said than done. There are an even amount of easy and hard achievements, you can even get 1 or 2 on your first Arcade try, given you pick up the controls quickly.
All this said, don't be expecting an easy 200 out of this. It's a great game with loads of replay value, but know that you'll need to spend many hours in order to fully complete it, a task that so far only the creator has been able to do.

Poker Smash is easily my favorite XBLA at the moment, and that's without using the online feature yet. It's got many unlockables and hard enough achievements to keep you playing for a long time, but don't fret, it's got the gameplay to make you want to devote those hours.

A clever idea, but not the most exciting of games to play. The 200 isn't possible for any casual players...but a bit of hardcore practice should be able to net you the 200. There are a few free songs available to download from the marketplace which might extend the lifespan for you.

Well designed turn based strategy games are always a breath of fresh air. This game has done a good job at ensuring that you always have fresh air. On top of it's campaigns and scenarios it comes with, there is also a level editor to build your own custom maps. If you prefer not to go that route, map packs and two expansions have been released already. This has raised the maximum achievement points possible to 250, the highest yet for any arcade game. A lot of the achievements can be earned doing the original campaign for the game. The multi-player ones merely require a second controller to easily unlock them, if that.

Based on an award winning European board game, this is one of the best strategy games on the Xbox 360. In this game, your goals can vary from building roads, trying to acquire the most farms, or trying to build the most/biggest cities. It is easy to learn how to pick up and play (plus the tutorials are very visual instead of a lot of reading). Don't be surprised if you earn almost all of the achievements in a day or two of playing. Several expansions have been added to the game which add various new tile types, though no new achievements came with these expansions. This game was free for a limited time recently due to Microsoft's celebration of Live's 5th Anniversary.

The arcade version of the award-winning flash game that can be found here (http://www.thewayoftheninja.org/n_downloads.html). The all-new version of the game, with souped-up graphics, more enemies, hundreds of new levels, as well as co-op and multiplayer, is as good as it gets. This is, in my opinion, by far the best game to hit the arcade yet. It's creative, original, and addicting. Definitely a must-buy.

Fair warning: The game does get insanely hard, and will have you pulling your hair out by the time it's over. However, the game is nice enough to reward you with a nice achievement for dying 1000 times.

By far one of the easiest 200 you can get. Single player achievements will get you 180 points in a good 5 hours of gameplay. While there is only 2 multiplayer achievements (20 points), it never stops you from playing online as well. Its very, very addictive. Especially when you join up with 4 of your friends and build really cool kingdoms.

Pretty great Idea for a thread. As for Dig Dug, I think it is more of a 4 than 5 in terms of achievement difficulty. There are a couple of achievements that are not exactly no brainer anyone can easily get types. To me, that is what a 5 would be like. Uno would be a great example of a 5.

Heyburt-I added a new feature; Replay value, you should add it to your games as well. A game may be good, but it may have no replay value...

Multiplayer is great fun but unfortunately there is no offline multiplayer. Other than that, GripShift is one of my favourite XBOX Live Arcade titles.<No Guide Available>

Originally on the PS1, Castlevania: SOTN is a game in which you play Alucard, the son of Dracula, who sets out on a mission to stop Castlevania. The game takes place entirely in the castle, and reinvented the series by focusing on a sandbox playing style instead of the level up system. It's a very long game, even longer then some retail games you could purchase for the 360, so it's a bargain at 800 MS. You can get most of the achievements playing through the game, which you have to technically play twice, the second time in the "Inverted Castle", which is the same thing backwards. Depending on whether or not you played the game on the PS1, the achievements will be harder, because it can be very easy to get lost and not be able to find your current objective.

I think it's definitely still nice to have because that you can tell what kind of achievements there are and find out how difficult they are if you don't know because you don't have the game.

It could also be like at video stores, where they have employee's favorite movie sections. If one person finds they like a certain person's style, they can look for reviews by them, but I guess as of now they aren't credited individually, but I wouldn't actually change that.

If your an RPG fan you will love this game. You can choose between 3 different characters, a warrior, an archer, and a sorceress. It has online and local co-op; the graphics look great and the game play is smooth as can be. An awesome feature of the game is the ability to turn into a large animal and wreak havoc. The achievements are all fairly easy to get, by the time you finish the game you should have all of them. The only negative I have for the game is that it is a little on the short side and definitely, leaves you wanting more. Overall a great game well worth the 800MSP.

Aegis Wing is a side-scrolling shooter created by Microsoft interns, which is why it is free, where humans have to fight for their new planet against a race known as the Araxia. Aegis Wing is one of the best side-scrollers simply because of it's multiplayer gameplay. You can play with 3 other friends locally or over xbox live and all of the achievements are obtainable playing multiplayer. The gameplay is smooth and fun, you can join your airships together forming one more powerful one, with one player steering and the rest firing. There are also four power-ups you can get by destroying enemy ships: Seeking Missiles, Laser Beams, Bubble Shields, and a Vacuum that sucks away enemy fire and turns enemies into stationery targets. The achievements are simple enough to get except for ACE which requires a little more skill and a lot of luck, easy 175 points. A must have game, come on download it's free and a blast!

I know you may not agree with this TC, but i think robotron is a quality game. i've spent countless hours on it trying to get to wave 10 (i can only get too wave 7) and there are actually 200 waves!!!! The game is hard, and sure dosen't have good graphics, but i find it really enjoyable. Whenever i start to egt bored with a retail game, i just hop on robotron. I also got it for free with a code anyway, and boy i would have paid about 100 points for this quality game :)

Wow, no ones done ones of Streets of Rage 2 or Castlevania?

I'd review, but I'm partially biased toward them. I will say that SoR2's netcode blows goats though. Horrible lag unless you have someone close (reminds me of playing the X-box version of Guilty Gear: XX: The Midnight Carnival: #Reload *try saying that three times fast*) to play with, or a good connection to host.

Poker Smash
Game Rating - *****
Ease Of Achievements - **.5
Replay Value - ****
Cost - 800MSP

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/achievements.php?gameID=559

These are only my opinions but other people may have different feelings towards these. Anyhow here's my list (I own these games I am listing).

The Good

Bomberman *****
It's re-playability is amazing, be it with your friends on a local game or online. It's just one of those games that never fails to amuse.

Doom *****
Wow, I don't know why but there's just something about slaying thousands of mindless creatures. I can't seem to get bored no matter how long I play, maybe it's the flawless level designs. The monsters you have to face or the puzzles you have to solve. Even the music is fun. This game is magnificent.

Golden Axe ***
Replayability is not so high I feel in this game, it is more towards the size of the game than anything though. Although it is still very fun to play through on your own or with a friend through co-op. Good game but completable in 10-20 mins!

Sonic 1 ****
It's a classic that I think everybody as known with either a love or hate relationship. If you are into you're fast paced platformers then this little blue hedgehog may be what you need. Great fun. After you have completed it the feel to replay may still be there for you but it was gone for me.

Sonic 2 *****
It's like sonic 1, but 10 x better! It seem's even faster. The levels are excellent. In this game you can be sonic, tails or both! The special goals are very cool and may I just add. There is a really cool feature in this game that when you have all the chaos emeralds (obtained by completing 7 special goals) you can become super, yes Super!!!! A game of excellence. You can also play co-op which adds new level of fun to it.

Switchball *****
I love this game! It's a great puzzle game where you are a ball which has converter points to change the ball into different types. IE. Magnet ball, Bounce ball, Metal ball, Light ball, Speed dash ball. All of these lead you into encountering some very brain teasing puzzles which also tests your skills also (time trial - gold). If you are into games that leave you thinking, what the hell do I do now then this is a good choice.

Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 *****
I saw this game on live and my face lit up with a grin from ear to ear. This was just one of my personal choices as I grew up with the game and love it. If you love fighting your way through the ranks. Finishing your foes with horrific death move animations. A game that can be challenging. Then give this a go!

The Bad

Boogie Bunnies **
I just don't seem to get anything from these sort of games. It's a game where you have to match 3 or more bunnies of the same colour together to clear up space. The bunnies move forwards a row every so often (being time wise or the amount of moves you make). I would say this game is somewhat a spin off from bubble bobble (where you shoot balls off walls at other balls). If you like that game this will probably be a great game for you.

CATAN IS A GREAT GAME AS A BOARD GAME BUT ON XBOX IT REALLY ROCKS CHECK IT OUT

i bought almost all of my arcade games based on this guide....one that DEFINATELY need your formal rating is Catan....its price is bit steep...i think that if microsoft was either less "prick-y" or smarter......they'd put the 800 msp games down to 600....anyways....that is my take....

For 400 MS points, the game is really actually easy achievements except for "Easy Week" in my opinion. The Smasher achievement might take you 1 or 2 tries, but it really is just an easy game, took me about 20 min to get like 150 out of it and I never played it before. Have fun. :-)

If you have ever played the computer flash version of this, N+ will be a very nice upgrade for you. From the easy to use level creator to the online co-op and even the improved graphics. For the new people, this could prove a challenge especially in the last 10-20 episodes. There are 50 episodes in single player campaign each with 5 levels to beat. You can also play with up to 3 other friends for online co-op. When I first played co-op, it was very hectic and it gave me and my friends a good laugh through the entire co-op campaign. The achievements are straightforward. Beat single player, beat co-op, beat some noobies online and also do very bad for one of them. Maybe not worth 800 but maybe 600-700 but I guess Microsoft doesn't want to go in between 400 and 800 so I guess we will all have to get over it.

Since this game was free I downloaded it. The first few minutes I was there like this is not worth it but then after a hour I really started to enjoy it. The game was really addictive and an enjoyable experience I got all the achievements but the 10,000 kills as this would take a long time but it has a medium set and has a learning curve of a hour or two.

This is an easy 150 points the Ultra mode takes some practice and the 10,000 kills is quite hard but it's a good experience on the way. If you didn't get it whilst it's free buy it now.

Tron is without doubt the worst arcade game I have downloaded. There is no replay value as the game gets old and boring very quickly, the game is just plain awful. All though you can get about 100 points easy enough the rest is just stupid. You have to be so lucky to be able to kill all the bugs on the first level and getting to level 12 is equivillant to reaching wave 100 on robotron or joust in my opinion it is just impossible. If you dont believe me on how hard they are check the leaderboard on MGC to see how many people have maxed this.

Ok, big problem here.
I have 800 MSP left, and I don't know what to get with them. Here is my list of possibilities.

1.) Chessmaster Live (I love chess, and I love this game on the PC. Does it come with the tutorials like the PC?)
2.) That "Classic Rock" track pack for GHIII (Because it has a journey song. Even though I'd like just that song.)
3.) Or something else.

What would you suggest?

phatRizzo

If you haven't played Soul Calibur yet would recomend that... I like it alot anyways and the achievements are all easy and doable... should be added to this list of what to get IMO.... only takes a couple hours for achieves though, so depends on how much replay it would have for you, would recomend the trial first

I have always loved the Soulcalibur games and when I saw this I instantly downloaded it. It never gets boring after multiple plays, there's arcade mode, team battle time attack and survival and even a museum, Team battle lets you pick 1-8 of your favourite characters to fight the Computer's or your friends team, although this game does not have xbox live apart from leaderboards is a shame cause it would be more intense, in my opinion this is a must get.

Wow...I have a lot of the games from the arcade. Many of these you put down or praise...oi. I guess it's all in the individual's taste. Like Smash TV. Sure it's impossible to get the achievements, but if you like Geometry Wars you'd probably like this, it's essentially the same thing except with humans, a game show theme, and it's clearly old school. Just wish it were SUPER Smash TV instead, but that game is just great fun. Too bad no one plays on-line anymore.

Galaga Legions is a lot of fun. If you like old school Galaga you'd love this. I'd recommend the 800 pts. I don't play it that much atm because of all the other games I'm working on but one day I'll get back to it for the 200/200 haha. Also check out Pac-Man C.E. if you haven't, it's the same team of people behind it that did Galaga Legions.

An SNK Classic and well worth the 400MSP, keeps you entertained and still has a reasonable online crowd. So get kicking with Terry Bogard and Joe Higashi for a small price. The achievements are not easy, but they are a far cry from hard. A doable 150g with an online boosting partner.

One of my top five 400MSP value games, great value for money.

I found your basic analysis of these games both shallow and pedantic. Although both are extremely enjoyable Street Fighter is the far better game. Fatal Fury handles at next to slow motion speeds and most button combinations don't work anyway.

Now, were we comparing Street Fighter Alpha and Real Bout Fatal Fury, we may have a different story on our hands, you sir are a schlep.

Galaga Legions is a good game. If you like Geometry Wars, you may want to pick this one up. There are tons of enemies moving all around the screen, and you have to use 2 satelite ships to shoot in all 4 directions. The achievements are very difficult, so expect to spend a lot of time trying to get these. I personally only have 30/200, and I don't think I'll be able to get any more without a ridiculous amount of effort.

Portal: Still Alive is great, but I love Portal, so I'm a little biased. It is basically the original Portal game with 14 new "Still Alive" levels. If you played the original Portal or you own The Orange Box, you may want to skip this one since there isn't a whole lot of new content. The achievements are very easy, I would definitely call this one an easy 200, since I got 200 in a few days of casual playing.

Do you have a price range, or is any price ok?

for 400MSP, I can't really recommend any other good ones as I haven't tried them all and the XBLA games I do have were all more than 400.

For 800MSP I would say Castlevania: SOTN, IMO one of the best games on XBLA, even though it's only a port, also a fairly simple 200GS.

if you don't have either of the Geometry Wars games, you HAVE to get them. Ridiculously hard, but ridiculously fun at the same time. However, they are nearly impossible for mere mortals to get 200/200, but still worth it.

If you haven't played Braid yet, and you have the MSP, it is a FANTASTIC game. Simply sublime and not to be missed.

Also I hear nothing but good things about Castle Crashers, although I haven't played it myself.

I second this, Portal:Still Alive is a great game but a very easy 200. The only mildly difficult achievement is 'Out of the Blue' and you just need to be careful when playing to attain it. If you're already familiar with 'The Orange Box', then pick it up for a quick 200; otherwise play and enjoy the puzzles if you're new to Portal.

I highly recommend people looking to start XBL Arcade invest in the Namco Museum Virtual Arcade game that just came out this month. If you're ULTRA AWESOME at old school games you could earn 1800 GS points off one 30 dollar disc. However, I am NOT ultra awesome and only netted 1,030. Here's how I'd rate the games:

*Pac-Man (very easy 170, the last 30 for eating all 4 ghosts four times in one round eluded me)
*Ms Pac-Man (just copy paste my Pac-Man mini-review here)
*Pac-Man Championship Edition (SUPER FUN game but damn I found it much more difficult than old Pac-Man. I only got 40 points)
*Galaga (SUPER EASY 200 points)
*Galaga Legions (another SUPER FUN game but damn near impossible to get achievements. I suck bad and only got 5 points)
*Mr Driller Online (horrible horrible game, only got 30 before I quit in disgust)
*Dig Dug (still pretty fun but mighty frustrating. I toughed it out for 165)
*Xevious (time has not been kind to this one. I only got 70 before I got tired of the horrible controls)
*New Rally-X (I would say this is easier than Galaga, but the last 20 point ach of getting 100,000 points eluded me due to how hard this game gets in later levels)

I cant believe there isnt a review for this yet. By far one of the easiest 200 ive got. Single player achievements will get you 180 points in a good 5 hours of gameplay. While there is only 2 multiplayer achievements (20 points), it never stops you from playing this game. Its very, very adictive. Especially when you join up with 4 of your friends and build really cool kingdoms.

Worms is an old PC game that pits 2 - 4 teams of 4 worms each against each other in an allout killfest. With crazy weapons like exploding sheep and, the all powerful Banana Bomb, find the fastest way to kill your opponent's entire team of worms. Achievements can take a little time, and, the Challenges achievement is difficult, but, this is a game worth trying, and, for only 400MSP, it's a great game to play.

I completed The Maw a couple of days ago.

I give it 5/5 in gameplay:
The graphics are beautiful, the characters are both lovable and funny, and it's just so much fun! Laid back fun too, as you cant die or anything so its nice and unstressful. There are some clever little puzzles which are fairly simple (but can leave you thinking WTF AM I SUPPOSED TO DO??? then feel dumb when you realise!) I enjoyed every second of playing and giggled all the way through, couldnt have asked for more for 800 points.

I give it 5/5 for ease of achievements:
You have progression achievements which you will easily get without trying, then achievements for eating everything on a level which just require you to search each level thoroughly. You can also replay any level you have completed so its easy to jump back in and pick up things you missed.

I give it 2/5 for replay value:
The levels are pretty short and there are only 8, so it isnt a very big game (probably due to the 150mb limit for arcade titles and the fantastic graphics/cutscenes) and you will complete it fairly quickly, but it gets a 2 because it is so much fun I will definitely go back and replay at some point in the future, and there are leaderboards that time how quickly you can complete each level for people who like to be competitive.

I recently played the demo to Small Arms and feel in love with its Super Smash Bros gameplay with added gunplay and more FU style gameplay for more adult players. I quickly purchased it and realized it got boring very quickly... the characters are awesome but some are just overpowering and some are just plain cool but dont have jack... if you can play multiplayer teams and diable certain weapons like you could in super smash, and added a few more characters, i would not be surprised to see this as a full title game. but since its not the above its fun and you should try the demo, but it is misleading... :(

Rez HD
Game Rating - ****
Achievements - ***
Replay - ** OR ***** (I will explain)

Rez HD is a port (and minor graphical update) of a rare and obscure cult classic PS2 and Dreamcast game. Its technically a rail shooter, but that genre defines this game very poorly. Its most prominent feature is its synesthesia through visual, auditory and tactile (rumble) stimulus. It can be very fun, but the gameplay is only decent in comparison to the experience of playing it. The achievements are not very hard, but some are very time consuming, including one that basically means you need to play the game start to finish (about an hour long) about 6 times on a specific mode. Some of the achievements can be done by either being very good at the game OR playing for an extended # of hours. I gave it a 2 OR a 5 in replay because if you don't like it, it doesn't have much to offer once you finish it, but if you like it, its a GREAT game to play for a half hour or so every couple of months on a quiet night with the sound up high. But its not something you make a gaming career out of.

I looked over the OP's ratings and two games jumped out. Alien Hominid HD really isn't that hard if you use a guide/second controller. You can basically do everything on EASY. Secondly, Fatal Fury Special, if you delete the title update, allows a code that makes the game extremely easy and with a boosting partner is an easy 200.

Ok so I have 800 points to spend on an Arcade game but I don't know what to buy (I'm saving 200 up for something else later). I already have Alien Hominid HD, Worms and Sonic the Hedgehog (And Dash Of Destruction) so I need you guys to help me pick something new.

I was thinking any of the following:
Splosion Man
Wolfenstein
Monkey Island

I've just played Wolfenstein 3D's demo and I'm indecisive, downloading the other 2 demos now. BTW, I have no preference, I just want a good game with achievements that aren't too hard. And no, Sonic sequels don't appeal to me, one Sonic is enough. xP

So please can someone suggest 1 800 point arcade game or 2 400 point arcade games (There isn't any 100, 200, 300, 500, 600, 700 etc. point games is there?) with easy (enough) achievements. The achievements don't have to be insanely easy, I just don't want any 'Play for 100 hours' .

So please can someone suggest 1 800 point arcade game

If you're looking at Splosion Man or Monkey Island you are looking at two very decent (albeit very different) games. If you loved the classic Monkey Island then you'll love this. It's a very expansive adventure which has very doable achievements (once you look them up lol). But, it's only singleplayer.

Splosion Man is a side scrolling adventure platformer. The only thing you can do is 'splode' which is basically causing an explosion and also jumping. If you liked the Maw, it has a similar type of humor and it's a very polished game as well. The big upside on this one is that it also has multi-player and then not like the single-player, NO, it's 50 unique levels for mp as well. I played this with a couple of my friends when they were over and they loved it. Achievement wise, this one isn't too hard either with the exception of the Hardcore achievement which basically means, play out the singleplayer level without checkpoints (so you have to finish the level in one go). This can be quite tedious at the higher levels but is doable (going by comments from others, haven't started on this myself).

So, it depends a bit on what you're looking for. Hmm, looking at the above I might consider writing some 'reviews' for some of the more recent games when I get some time (perhaps this weekend).

Wolfenstein 3D has fairly easy achievements though a guide might be helpful since there's no map. Later levels are pretty much labyrinths (sp?) and one for achievement you'll be playing on the second highest difficulty, which isn't too tough but if you go the wrong way you can end up wasting ammo and health on nothing. But you can save anywhere too. If you have a good memory (I don't :) ) and like old-school shooters you might like it.

I'm not a big fan of point and clicks but I liked Monkey Island, pretty funny and interesting. Nice graphics/voice work too. All the achievements are secret but if you look them up they're all straightforward so they shouldn't be any trouble. I would suggest just playing through once for fun maybe using the hint system (quite helpful) and not rushing things, then going for under 3 hours + no hints achievements later. But overall a nice relaxing game, pretty unique.

Both are good games with fairly easy achievements. But unless you really like old school games then I'd go with Secret of Monkey Island. Easy but still fun achievements and a great game overall.

Yeah I went for Wolfenstein in the end, I used to watch my dad play it on the PC when I was like 4 so it brings back memories. xP

I also didn't see any other 400 point games which I felt like downloading so I just wasted 400 on avatar clothes (Yeah, I'm stupid ass noob etc. but they were all BioShock clothes so it's cool ;D). I now have 200 points waiting for me to add another 1000 so I can buy Banjo Kazooie, after that it'll either be Shadow Complex or Banjo Tooie, though those won'tbe for awhile. xP

Thanks for the help guys.

Soilydude, Banjo Kazooie's great, and I'd never discourage buying it; but if you don't have Shadow Complex, you should spend your next 1200 points on that. I've got all the achievements and still can't stop playing. Go back for the bear and the bird at a later date.

Splosion Man

Humour: 6/5 (So funny it deserves mention!)

Fun: 4/5
Every level presents a new gameplay feature, challenge or puzzle. I wanted to give the game 5 out of 5, but there is a bit too much trial 'n error for my taste. In certain levels, where slow reflexes will get you killed, you just don't know where to go.

Ease of achievements: 3.5/5
Getting 200/200 is not difficult, though it demands 1 or 2 weeks' worth of dedicated play (approximately 20 hours?... I forget). The hardest achievement requires beating the game on the hardest difficulty, wherein dying once means restarting the level. Levels are short, mind you.

Value: 2.5/5
Unless you're a leaderboard diehard (I'm not), you'll be done with this game after three playthroughs (2 singleplayer, 1 multiplayer).

Bionic Commando: Rearmed (can you still buy this despite GRIN going under?)

Fun: 4/5 (nostalgia helped sway my score)
Challenging. Fantastic music. Humourous. Stunning graphics. Gameplay can take some getting used to. Likely better than it's retail counterpart (though haven't played it; I'm just guessing).

Ease of achievements: 2/5
Understandably, a lot of gamers might get discouraged by a handfull of challenges and/or the hardest difficulty setting. Nothing impossible. Hell, I beat this ages ago and guides are a plenty.

Value: 3/5
You can play cooperative and competitive multiplayer... but only locally :(. On the plus side, it's very fun. There are also leaderboards.

I certainly recommend Outpost Kaloki X. As you said, it's really underated and a very fun game. Also, the achievements are not difficult at all if you use the guides that are posted on the forums of this site; for Gold medal times etc.

Great list though :)
