Ok I was in best buy the other day and I say a book that was called "10,000 points in 2 weeks" so that got me thinkin if some random loser can make a book why cant our great staff come up with an x360a book to sell, I would hope all sales would goto the site for better things :D

Just a thought, you know...

Not that my opinion alone matters much, but I think this is a great idea. This would drive TONS of traffic to this site. The toughest thing about it would be finding a publishing company that would publish it for a percentage rather than an up front payment. Definitely something to look into though.

Ironically. I was discussing this with a staff member the other day but only for an article.

I think this is a great idea. Id buy em you could sell them in volumes: shoot em ups, rpgs, adventure. Or you sell buy years for example games of 2006/7/8 e.t.c. Or you could do them alphabetical a-d d-g e.t.c.

Wow, I actually think this would be a great idea...I saw books on achievements and boosting your gamerscore. We should all make a guide together and try to publish it...lol.

Sounds a lot like the 'Noob Guide To Gaming...' series of small books by X360 magazine...
It would be a good idea though. :)

Not in England, I believe spelt is the correct grammar. And the book/article is a pretty cool idea, not really sure what could go in to the article though apart from loads of links to achievement guides and such? Give me some ideas and i'll have a go at writing one if you want.

I've seen that book before at Best Buy as well. I didn't even bother to pick it up. Instead, I slapped on a "x360a.org" sticker on the cover and left.;)

I can promote it on my radio station :D

Just copy/paste the guides.

Just copy/paste the guides.

How would that help then? Anyways, I don't think there would be a point in making the book unless I was making it :D Just messing. The book sounds like a pretty decent idea, but I don't think it would sell all that well. If the book was on a lot more things, then I think it would have a ton of potential. Scoring X amount of points in X amount of time doesn't sound like a great seller to me.

well that would work great on old games, but how the hell are you gonna get youtube videos in a book?

Fonkey, we're in 2008 my friend. We would just make a digital book OR we could have a DVD. I know what you're thinking. This guy should be an inventor. I know.

Whos gonna pay for a book thats contents are freely available on the site???

01-02-2008, 02:42 PM
Who would pay some guy on ebay money to play Avatar for them? Exactly.

People will pay for anything. If you build it, they will come.......

Plus, a proper set of guides, presented well, would do extremely good business in my opinion. Especially via this site or ebay - some people would rather have things on a page in black and white than have to find it on some website. Strange but true.

I for one will keep coming back here for my help, but I would gladly write a book for you guys if this is an idea that you want to persue.

The people who would buy this book are the same folks who buy a magazine filled with 80% advertising content even though the companion website offers better material. Plus, I'm not gonna lie, I would buy it just for its bathroom reading potential. My laptop gets a lil toasty so viewing on the bowl can lead to crispy leg hairs. I say go for it.

You have no idea.... :p

Thats a good idea, but what about this:

You have an advertisement brochure/handout on X360a.org. Then on the cover it can say something like "You can gain X amount of points in X amount of days". And inside tell them to visit x360a.org for all of your achievement needs. ;) Then they enter like a promotional code for quick access on how to score so and so points.

You can distribute them to places like Best Buy, Circuit City, and Gamestop.

The same people that are buying similar books now, those who havn't found the site before.

What sort of people would donate to a site when you can get everything for free..but people do. It would make money. :)

The problem is, if x360a were to make a book, you'd have scores of people who contributed ever so slightly to one guide whining for credit or worse, royalties. I also think that a book like that would need pictures, and you can't slap pictures from a game into a book and sell it. There's so much red tape that would have to be cleared up it would be ridiculous for a small site to undertake. I'm assuming the book you saw was filled with 2k6 games and the like, which most people interested in gamerscore already have.

Not saying I wouldn't pay for a book though.
