so playing through this game, i see on every load screen them pushing downloadable content. the only problem is that as of now, there is none. anyone heard a timeframe of when new songs will be available and/or what they might be?
on a side note, this is a VERY easy game to get achievements. i got 'Diamond' on several songs in my first try and i can't even pass a song on easy on rock band. It's worth renting at least, but we enjoy it as a purchase!

Karaoke Revolution Encore: American Idol Presents DLC Available
Written Monday, February 25, 2008 by David Creech
So with no fanfare or official announcement from Konami, DLC is now available for Karaoke Revolution Encore: American Idol Presents. This (hopefully just the first of many) batch of songs dwarfs the paltry weekly offerings from Rock Band and Guitar Hero with a whopping 21 songs ready to go. Even better...they are only 120 MS points each.
Nice job, Konami, excellent move into the DLC arena with real emphasis!
Here is the song list:
"All My Ex's Live In Texas" - George Strait
"Baby One More Time" - Britney Spears
"Billie Jean" - Michael Jackson
"Boot Scootin' Boogie" - Brooks and Dunn
"Chain of Fools" - Aretha Franklin
"Crawling in the Dark" - Hoobastank
"Everything You Want" - Vertical Horizon
"Fame" - David Bowie
"Girls Just Want To Have Fun" - Cyndi Lauper
"Hey Jealousy" - Gin Blossoms
"Hit Me With Your Best Shot" - Pat Benetar
"How You Remind Me" - Nickelback
"I Can't Help Myself" - Four Tops
"Jessie's Girl" - Rick Springfield
"Kiss Me" - Sixpence None the Richer
"Like A Virgin" - Madonna
"Save Tonight" - Eagle Eye Cherry
"Shining Star" - Earth, Wind & Fire
"Son of a Preacher Man" - Dusty Springfield
"Take My Breath Away" - Berlin
"When a Man Loves a Woman" - Michael Bolton
I just saw this on the website today

That's a pretty good variety of songs, and just in time. I was running out of songs I could do easily on Expert, and I need a few more to get the World Idol achievement.
Time to spend some points ...
... wow, country fans get the short end of the stick. Only two songs I recognize as country, and they were both in KR: Country for the PS2.
Also upon further review, and as noted in the comments below Creech's post, these are all songs from previous KR games, so it's not nearly as impressive as it seems.
In fact, what the hell? There are 35 songs on KR Country and we get two? Where's Suds in the Bucket? Friends in Low Places? I Walk the Line?

i hear that theres going to be hundreds of DLC songs. just wish they had a day a week that some came out just like rockband does on tuesdays.

Some more new songs were added to the marketplace yesterday. I'm not sure who all of the original artists are, so I'm just going by what little I know, lol.

Please Mr. Postman (The Marvelettes)
She Talks to Angels
I Want You Back (Jackson 5)
You Really Got Me
ABC (Jackson 5)
Beat It (Michael Jackson)
Bizarre Love Triangle

thats a good set of songs i got 3 off the first dlc list im gonna have to get a few more now
03-05-2008, 10:24 PM
She Talks to Angels - Black Crowes
You Really Got Me - Van Halen
Chattahoochee - Alan Jackson
It's the End of the World As We Know It - REM
Those are the four I know. x3f lists all the songs, but only shows the writers for some of them, and that helps me, um, very little.
x3f does list Crazy as being Willie Nelson's cover. IIRC, the version on Karaoke Country was Patsy Cline's, but I could be wrong.
EDIT: You Really Got Me is most definitely the Van Halen cover. Willie Nelson apparently did write Crazy, but it is Patsy Cline's version/cover in the game. (I want to say she sang it first and Willie sang it later, but that could be wrong too.)
Don't Know Why is actually the Norah Jones song. It was one of the tracks on the first Karaoke Revolution for Xbox.

Keeping with the program, it looks like there are 21 more songs up as of this past Tuesday:

China Grove (Doobie Brothers)
Does He Love You (Reba McEntire & Linda Davis)
Endless Love (Lionel Ritchie & Diana Ross)
Fly (Hilary Duff)
Good Ol' Boys (Waylon Jennings)
Hold On (Good Charlotte)
I Don't Wanna Be (Gavin DeGraw)
I'll Be There (Jackson 5)

Wind Beneath My Wings (Bette Midler)
You're the One that I Want (from "Grease")

63 dLC songs already, pretty impressive.
03-25-2008, 06:58 PM
Yeah. I don't think it really matters how many of them came straight from the other versions, either ... GH I songs were few and far between in GH II, and I don't even know if they can do that for GH III or if they have to redo the tracks and all that with the change in developers.
I think GH is going in exactly the wrong direction. KR and Rock Band are doing it right: fewer new releases and more DLC.
04-08-2008, 10:16 PM
Huh. Somehow they snuck out a new set of DLC without any real notice anywhere.
Cry (Faith Hill)
Dust In the Wind (Kansas) - duet
Every Breath You Take (Police)
Everybody Wants to Rule the World (Tears For Fears)
Heartbreak Hotel (Elvis)
Hot Stuff (Donna Summer)
How Do I Live (LeAnn Rimes)
If You Could Only See (Tonic)
Independence Day (Martina McBride)
I've Got You Under My Skin (Frank Sinatra)
Lady Marmalade (Patti LaBelle)
Material Girl (Madonna)
Pieces of Me (Ashlee Simpson)
Start Me Up (Rolling Stones)
Take On Me (a-ha)
Time After Time (Cyndi Lauper)
Turn The Beat Around (Gloria Estefan) - duet
What Becomes of the Broken Hearted (Jimmy Ruffin)
I Will Survive (Gloria Gaynor)
Joy To The World (Three Dog Night)
You're my boy, Blue!

Here's another set of 21 songs. These music games are getting expensive for me ...
Against All Odds (Phil Collins)
Ain't No Mountain High Enough (Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell) - duet
Always Something There To Remind Me (Naked Eyes)
Crazy Little Thing Called Love (Queen)
Do I Make You Proud (Taylor Hicks)
Every Rose Has Its Thorn (Poison)

at the moment it seems to go on a evey other week schedual, releasing on tuesday's. next release should be the 29th.
04-29-2008, 07:23 PM
That's very impressive. We'll have to see how long they can sustain that pace. I figure it will only last until all songs from previous versions are available as DLC. After that, it'll probably take longer, either that or there won't be as many songs available each time.
Here's today's selection, as consolation for UPS sending my copy of GTA IV off to Philadelphia and back. Seven-letter words, rhymes with suckers.
I'm Coming Out (Diana Ross)
(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman (Aretha Franklin)
Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing (Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell) - duet
Ain't Too Proud To Beg (Temptations) - duet
Careless Whisper (George Michael)
Greatest Love of All (Whitney Houston)
Love Will Keep Us Together (Captain and Tennille)
New York, New York (Frank Sinatra)
Photograph (Nickelback) - duet
Proud Mary (CCR)
Stand By Your Man (Tammy Wynette)
Straight Up (Paula Abdul)
Sugar, We're Goin' Down (Fall Out Boy)
The Real Thing (Bo Bice)
When The Sun Goes Down (Kenny Chesney and Uncle Kracker) - duet
Do You Really Want to Hurt Me (Culture Club)
Born to Be Wild (Steppenwolf)
You and Me (Lifehouse)
The First Cut is the Deepest (Sheryl Crow)
American Woman (Lenny Kravitz)
Complicated (Avril Lavigne)
Thanks to Wikipedia for filling in the blanks for me (basically anything that was released in the last 10 years).
Very impressive that they did this on GTA launch day. I'd pay double for the Blues Brothers' version of Stand By Your Man, though. For a moment I thought that Def Leppard released Photograph for KR as well (they did a GH III track pack with Nine Lives, Photograph, and Rock of Ages) ... I'd take the Kid Rock/Sheryl Crow duet of Picture as well.
Once again, a nice mix of tracks.

thats the one the great things about this game, is that the content is never ending. think about how many songs are in a typical karoeke book at a bar. it can go up to the thousands. and they have a good thing going right now with a good mixture of genres but also mostly songs that really do get sung for kareoke.
05-10-2008, 07:56 PM
That's true; this should be a lot easier than the other games because they only need a vocals track and they can use pretty much any cover band.
The one thing to keep in mind is that so far, every song (to my knowledge) that's been released for the 360 already appeared on a previous KR game. At some point, those will run out. It would be nice if they made new tracks for this game, but there's no guarantee they will.

I eyeballed the lists in Wikipedia, and it looks like we have about two more packs of DLC before they use up the existing songs from previous games. It'll be interesting to see what happens after that. It would sure be nice if they'd been adding additional songs to the pipeline that would be new to the series, releasing those after the encore songs are done, but I wouldn't count on it.
UPDATE: weeks later, as buzzards circle this thread, we have no new DLC, and in fact, apparently we've lost a few tracks, according to Wikipedia. The tracks below can no longer be downloaded:
"Hot Stuff" - Donna Summer
"I'll Make Love to You" - Boyz II Men
"Lady Marmalade" - Patti LaBelle
"Let's Get It On" - Marvin Gaye
"Like A Virgin" - Madonna
"Sugar, We're Goin' Down" - Fall Out Boy

yuk....the price for these songs is too high.... you pay that much for Rock Band songs and you get four tracks in one.... it be better if they were at most a dollar.
