I've not noticed this anywhere else on the forum, but I stumbled across this on Gspot...

...confirming Texas Hold 'Em for August 23. Still can't believe they're giving it away. Most downloaded Marketplace item you think?

Cool im pretty shit at poker so i'll need this game for some practice!

How many players does it support? im assuming 4?

Its 8 players. ANd MS will never allow people to gamble on its system, its far too risky

That's true, although I wish it was different. But I guess if it was, that's the only thing I'd ever play. :Bounce: It would be cool if you could gamble with your microsoft points...

I wonder though ... how much will poker lose by being online? Surely half the game is reading your opponents? And if you can't see them it will be tough to know if people are bluffing etc.

People playing online Poker is one of the most popular new games tho- the numbers playing it are growing rapidly

Yes, that always takes away from online poker. But even worse is when it's not for real money. People play different when they have nothing real to lose. They'll make bets and calls that they wouldn't normally make if there was real cash on the line.

I never thought about that. But yeah, I'd definitely play differently if it was for money or MS points. Though to be fair, if it was for money I probably wouldn't play at all, not much of a gambler really.

Thats true, i play a lot of online poker, and its a lot different when you join a freeroll, people go all in no matter what hands they have, it can be gay, but it can also be profitable in the end because these people have no idea what they're doing..

As far as I know, it will be treated like a normal arcade game... so 200 GP.

A bit like Hexic, free to download, 200 GP up for grab.

yea online poker is pretty popular, my dad plays the free stuff all the time, usually gets pissed off and quits when everyone else at the table starts betting and raising before the flop even comes up.

Great, they're slating us with ads AND we have to pay for it. And since they're not done with the game yet, it could be moved back...AGAIN.

I'll definitely still pick it up. I love poker, even if it isn't for real money. The only thing that's going to be really annoying is ppl who don't know how to play and only got the game for the points. Although it will be fun to destroy them...:nana

Lol, that'll be me. I've never played poker extensively so I won't really know what I'm doing, not at first anyway. I'm genuinely interested in it though, so I will learn.

On the subject of poker games, isn't there a retail game coming out this year? I'm not sure how they could make it worth shelling out a lot more than this arcade game costs.

I'm sure the retail game will have actual characters that you can customize, announcers, animations, etc., where as the arcade game will probably just be the table, cards, and chips.

P.S. Hit me up when the game comes out and I will teach you how to play.

Yeah, though that's all fairly superficial stuff.

Ta, I think I've mostly got it from playing in the Gun side missions, but I can't guarantee anything.

What will happen is good players will make money. All in freaks (7 - 2 off SWEET) will lose and keep on the lowbie tables. and at some point skilled players will be on higher tables and lamers on lower.

Yeah I read about them working it like this. So basically you're gambling money, just not real money. Should work pretty well.

And Legion: You might want to start a school, or something. Start charging at least.

Never really played much, however... I am a lucky bastard who has watched alot of pro tourneys, so fancy my chances of winning a few hands ;)

The achievements look nice, they have some single player tournaments, some single player scenarios, and a lot of multiplayer achievements, however the one where you'll have to get a royal flush (which i knew they would do) is going to be a BITCH

I don't think I'll mind this having tough or time consuming achievements, as it'll be something you can fire up whenever and have a few hands before soddng off again. Can't see it ever getting boring to play really.

Defo getting this. I love poker. The achivements are quite good but as previously mentioned, getting the Royal Flush is gonna be a bitch!!
