Supreme Commander 360 Port Delayed

Console version of complex PC RTS pushed into 'late spring, early summer'.

With developers only recently beginning to crack the RTS-on-consoles nut, Gas Powered Games surprisingly decided to put the concept to the ultimate test by porting Supreme Commander (http://www.1up.com/do/gameOverview?cId=3164323) to the Xbox 360. But if you're wondering how one of the most complex PC real-time strategy games will work with a 360 pad, you're going to have to wait a little longer to find out -- the 360 port has been delayed, possibly into early summer (via Shacknews (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/51899)).

Aspyr, the game's publisher, didn't specify a release date, only stating it would be "on store shelves later this spring or early summer." No specific reason for the delay was given, other than assuring the extra time will be well spent. "While the game will be hitting shelves later than originally expected, the additional time put into development will result in better gameplay and more fun for gamers," said Eric Duncan, Aspyr marketing manager.

We recently got our hands on a preview build of the game, so check that out (http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3165537&p=4) if you're curious how the controls are shaping up so far. And don't forget to listen to one of our special GDC episodes (http://download.gamevideos.com/Podcasts/CGW/022008.mp3) of GFW Radio (http://www.1up.com/do/minisite?cId=3148397), where Supreme Commander lead designer Chris Taylor (and Company of Heroes (http://www.1up.com/do/gameOverview?cId=3139860) lead designer Josh Mosqueira) joined the crew to discuss their games and the state of the RTS genre.

Disappointing news I gotta say. Was looking forward to seeing how this would be on 360. The news story quotes Aspyr as saying the extra time will be well spent to improve the game. Hopefully they keep there word on that.
