I already have:

Halo 3
Gears of War
TES4: Oblivion
TC: Ghost Reacon Advanced Warfighter
Call of Duty 4
Assassins' Creed
Viking: Battle for Asgard
WWE: Smackdown Vs Raw 2008

Bare in mind; I like achievements, i don't have live yet, i would like something that will take time, but not years.

Suggestions please.

Lost Odyssey or Eternal Sonata both great games, both have all offline achievements and both will last you 40 - 60 hours

Is that good for the old Gamerscore?

And i'm not into Football games, especially not manager ones.

Can you explain a bit about Lost Oddesy about it? I was looking at it, but the main character looks silly, is it frea roam etc?

devil may cry 4, its about 29.99 in hmv at the moment. All offline, some bits are quite challenging and a very good game in general.

BioShock. No doubt.

Bully is worth a look too. Never played it before and got really into it. Oh and Bioshock is a definite buy if you haven't already got it!

I don't really like 'scary' games - i don't want to sound like a wimp.

And bioshock looks...Scary :(

I like the look of bully, will look into it.

Vegas would not be that great for someone without live

I would recommend Gran Turismo 5.

Even if you don't have a PS3 you could still bask in it's awesomeness.

But you could also try to get cheap games for achievements. :p

I'll be getting XBL soon in around a week so...

Army of Two looks nice, however short it is.

Bioshock isn't like its reputation imo. I'm quite a fraidy cat and didn't like to play games like Silent Hill or Resident Evil but I was fine with Bioshock. It's not scary just creepy and will occasionally make you jump when you turn around and there's someone there who wasn't there one second ago  lol

If you are getting live get r6v2. You can beat the SP while you wait and the live is phenomenal. Army of Two is a good rental, only because the story mode is hella short.

Mass Effect. It takes a loooooooooooooooong time to get 1000/1050 (if you don't have Live yet,you can't buy the additional DLC). It took over 70 hours for me to reach 100% completion.

Crackdown is a very solid open-world game, and will likely only cost $20 US. I think that's about 25 L, right?

Lost Odyssey is a very solid Japanese RPG, should last at least 40 hours.

Tomb Raider Legend is short (about 7 hours on the first playthrough), but excellent and only about $20.

I don't know what kind of currency you think we have here in the UK, but "25 L" makes no sense. Crackdown is around 17.99 in most shops now but you can get it for cheaper 2nd hand, it really is an awesome game and definitely worth the money.

unless you need a game now, i would wait until gta 4 or gears 2, but if you have the money then go buy a good long rpg to keep you busy until good games come out

Crackdown
The game you got free with the Halo 3 Beta. Its really underrated and is worth a look at. Its like GTA but you're the cop sorta thing and most of the achievements are offline bar 2 or 3. It should set you back around 15-20.
Call Of Duty 2
All the achievements are offline for completing levels on veteran, if your into challenging yourself. Its 20 in Argos, but you'll proberbly find it cheaper pre-owned. I personally perfer it to CoD4.
Viva Pinata
A wonderful game that will keep you addicted for ages with its sweet filled charm. My personal favourite 360 game as it hooks you when you get into it. All of the achievements are offline so they'll be no rush with Live. Its worth a try at around 10-15. (Its on offer at Argos for 10, along with Forza 2.)

Hope this helps. :]

I have to say Assassin's creed. It is a great game and all the achievements are offline.
