In more than a decade of reviews on GameSpot, perfect scores have been exceedingly rare occurrences, with only four games receiving a 10. One of those was the original Dreamcast launch fighting game Soulcalibur (http://www.gamespot.com/dreamcast/action/soulcalibur/review.html).
The Dreamcast may be gone and in some cases forgotten, but the standout star of its launch is about to get a new lease on life. Namco Bandai today announced that Soulcalibur would make a Cervantes-like return to life this summer as a downloadable title on the Xbox Live Arcade.
New features for the XBLA edition of Soulcalibur will include the expected high-definition graphics and assortment of character- and mode-specific leaderboards. Unfortunately, cross-continental swordfights appear to be limited to the upcoming online-enabled Soulcalibur IV (set for a July 29 release (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6189306.html) on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3), as Namco Bandai promised only that players could "challenge a friend in local-play Versus mode." Other modes include fighting genre staples like Arcade, Training, and Survival.
For more on the publisher's upcoming slate, check out GameSpot's full coverage of this week's Namco Bandai press event (http://www.gamespot.com/events/namcobandai08/index.html).

Not to sound nasty but you just gave me a chubby lol j/k.
Soul caliber is one of my favorite games of all time. About time they put out a classic like this. I still have it with my dreamcast so i might have to pop it in to get back into gear.

I am interested but I would have preferred Tekken 3 or Soul Calibur 2 also Soul Blade would have been an interesting one. And when will we see Killer Instinct Gold or II from RARE?

Just read about it, it is going to be a must-download for me atleast.

I started the series at two, so it will be good to see the beginning. ;)

Soulblade was one of the first games I got for PS1. Loved that game. I thought I was amazing at it, completing it in 3 minutes lol.

I'm excited for this one. I wish they'd port more fighting games onto XBLA.

I'm not sure if I'll be getting this. No Xbox Live multiplayer is the reason that I may skip it. All the other fighting games that I've played on 360, both retail and arcade, have had online play.

I'll be picking this up for achievements, for sure. Should be a blast to revisit this gem :)

The best fighter ever is already on XBLA - Mortal Kombat ;)

People will moan about how a certain character has been over balanced compared to how they used to be or how it doesn't feel the same. (See Ikaruga (http://kotaku.com/380686/top-rated-ikaruga-player-xbla-version-is-horrible) <- Clicky)
I may be wrong, but I thought I'd just throw the opinion out there.
I might give it a go though, as I enjoyed 2 and 3.

Soul Calibur is amazing. My favorite is number 2 because you could play as Spawn! I can't wait to see the achievement list for this game. Come ON!!!!! w00t

Yeah, I feel the same. No online multiplayer = cop out.
I wouldn't get an old game just for achievements.
It's like when I bought Sonic 2 on XBLA... because the Xbox.com page said CO-OP and VS. multiplayer online.. when in reality.. it turned out to only be VS.... I was really pissed I wasted my money.

Without online play or anything there really isn't a reason for me to buy it. I already have it on dreamcast and my dreamcast works fine. The only advantage is playing with the 360 controller.

I remember playing Soul Caliber on an arcade machine on holiday in Tenerife. I loved it so much I bought a Dreamcast and Soul Caliber just so I could play it.
