View Full Version : Where do you rent your games?

Where do you rent your games?

I personally prefer Blockbuster, they always have great prices and promotions and they don't care if you take a few extra days.

I tried Rogers Video a few times and it was absolute garbage (at least the one I went to). The games there are always scratched and not working and the people there are a pain. I rented a game and returned it on the the day of return and then they called me twice saying I have to return it.

Blockbuster as they've got a gr8 range

Blockbuster never has any games in stock..they're always rented to someone...i rent my games from gamefly....cheap and easier, cause they have alot of games and always have the games i want in stock......and if you like the game, you can buy it and keep it, and its cheaper to keep the games, then keeping them from blockbuster....cause i don't wanna drive all the way to Blockbuster, and then get there and they don't have the game in stock...so gamefly for me...

Blockbuster! No late fees ftw!!!

I've never tried anything like gamefly though, but my friend does. It's pretty sweet that if you liked it enough, you just pay for it and keep it.

I use Blockbuster as there is always a good choice with pretty reasonable prices. Also its only a 10 minute walk to the store lol.

Hollywood Video. Sometimes Blockbuster or just trade with my friends.

Gamefly. They have a lot more choices than Blockbuster and I can keep the games as long as I want.

I always rent form Blockbuster.

I went to Hollywood Video sometimes, but they closed it down. Didn't bother me too much though, the main reason I went there was because they had a better horror movie section. Rarely went for games. It was nice to know that if Blockbuster didn't have it, Hollywood did, but oh well.

Blockbuster is the best option

$21 a month for their game Pass for 1 rental out at a time (2 games for 28.99)as many times a month as you want. It's better then gamefly cuz u can take it back and get a new game, Instead of waiting 5 days like you do with gamefly.

As of late Blockbuster has almost refused my money on 3 occasions. I'm thinking of going back to GameFly, but they never have easy 1k games in stock.

So my renting has gone on hiatus for now. =/

I have a game pass from Hollywood right now. It's $20 for one game at a time, and their selection is much better than the Blockbusters around here.

more details? my neighbor Erin is a district Manager for blockbuster. I don't see why they'd refuse you...they just need a Credit,Debit,Prepaid Card in case you're a stealer! :-P

I agree, plus if you want to play a really quick 1000 game, like Avatar, it's extremely nice to be able to play it and get a new one fast to forget that you just played a stupid kid's game.

Rogers Video. Oddly enough there isn't a BB close enough to bother with. I only rent if they're easy GS games though. I tend to purchase the good ones like my pre-ordered GTA4 CE. :D

I think once they refused my $50 because it was "fake", even though the bank gave it to me. My debit card was denied even though it has plenty of money on it. And another time the kid who started there (it was his first day) didn't know to work the register and I didn't have a credit / debit card.

It's almost getting to the point where I feel like walking behind the counter and taking the game myself. And leaving. :p

Gamefly. The blockbusters by me have little selection and are constantly rented out. Gamefly has the games i want, and i rarely have to wait. The couple days of downtime between games sucks, but i still think it's worth the money.

Civic Video has much better quality but im far away, same deal for Blockbuster

My local grocery store (Coberns) $2.99 for 7 night rental. And they most always have the new games on release date. Only thing is new releases are only overnight.

I have gamefly and like it. I usally send a game back monday and have a new one by thursday...in between try to max out the games I own. Also, occasional used game passes the time. Crackdown for 20 bucks has been awesome.

I get free game rental coupons from MyCokeRewards at Blockbuster so I just go there. I usually keep a game for 1 week. Sometimes a couple of days longer if I haven't completed it in that one week. Thing is, I rented 3 games from them about 4 months back. Played them and only got ~100-150 achievements points in them and returned them. Didn't care about achievement points then. Gona go re-rent them soon.

Rent? Nah, I just buy used (or new if it's a game I really want) and trade with my brother and friends from work. I find that most used games don't cost much more than a seven day rental, and I don't have to worry about returning it. I don't have a lot of time to play games, so renting and returning it before I even tried it doesn't appeal.

Movie Gallery...but I've pretty much went through all the easy 1k games they've had and you can only have them out for 5 days unless you want to get charge for another 5 >__> There's a Blockbuster in the area, but I don't feel like having to driving 20 miles while wasting gas for some easy games I'd have done in a matter of days. Thinking of subscribing to Gamefly in the near future though.

Exactly the same reason I like them the best. Although... they seem to take a long time to ship me my games, id probably rent locally if there were a place around here to rent from.

Until recently, I frowned upon renting games. It just didn't seem right. But then I heard about Avatar and realised what a waste of money it would be buying it. I joined LOVEFiLM and tried out their 30 day trial. It was great, except Royal Mail ended up losing my first order of Avatar (along with CSI: Hard Evidence) in the post. On about the 28th day of my trial Avatar arrived. Sent it back the same day and left their service.

LOVEFiLM are great and get your games to you incredibly fast. If more games come around that're as easy as Avatar in terms of gamerscore, then I may consider becoming a paying member.

I haven't rented a game in years, but when I did, it was from Blockbuster. I think the last game I rented was Metal Gear Solid... the first one on Playstation.

gamefly for this simple reason... Some of you bought gta IV for $60 plus tax i got a brand new copy in for a rental with gamefly and i can choose to keep it for $38.50 thats with the used price minus 5% for being a level two customer plus a $5 dollar coupon that they give every three months plus in two more months ill move up to a level 3 customer and the 5% discount will become 10%

Gamefly - The trials make you think they suck (only ten days and I had horrible service for mine) but I had Gamefly before and I just decided to try again.. my only problem was, as mentioned above ("horrible service"), I got Rainbow Six Vegas that was scratched and didn't work, then they sent me the wrong game when I complained and them my trial was over.. but yeah, I like Gamefly :p ..

So from what I'm hearing, Gamefly seems like a good service to use, correct? I'm thinking about taking a subscription out to it so I can get some easy 1k's while I'm playing GTA4. Are they good about having the easy/quick 1k's in stock?

Gamefly is the way to go for me. I don't even use blockbuster anymore.

The only complaint I have with Gamefly is that you have to wait for the new releases to be available. If you want to play Eragon you will get it the next day, however playing GTA 4 that will take a few months before you see that title in your mailbox.

If I did rent games however, it would probably be from Blockbuster. Why you say? There's a Blockbuster store within 5 minutes of walking distance from me. :)

I hardly ever rent games. I used to go to Gamestop, buy a used game and returned it within 7 days. They have a policy that if you did not like the game they will give you back your money if you bring it back within a weeks time when you bought it.
