Just curious. I do at times. It depends on the game and what I'm doing. If I'm going through a game for the first time, I usually won't listen to music, as I'm paying attention to the story. If I'm going through again, playing online, or just fucking around, I'll connect my iPod to my speakers and play some music.

But, as I've said, it also depends on the game. One game I will never play while listening to music is The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The music in the game itself is awesome and adds to the gameplay.

Games I do play while listening to music are Saint's Row, any GTA, the CoD games, Dead Rising, etc.

Who else likes listening to music while playing games?

I do quite a lot. Particularly when boosting, doing something tedious or extremely difficult.

I like listening to the game instead of other music. One of the first things I do when starting a game for the first time is turn down the background music (or completely off -- usually if it's a title from EA).

Pretty much all the time. Especially on games like Madden, with it's repetetive songs and commentary.

I always listen to music while playing multiplayer. I just find that I play better if I'm chilled out.

I definately listen to music in games. Not every game. Just like you said, just doesn't suit Oblivion, but definately most other games I can't do without music sometimes. Gotta have something to pump me up and motivate me to stick through with harder or more boring achievements and stuff.

I used to, but not so much anymore. If i'm playing multiplayer, i wanna be able to hear who i'm talking to. Plus my computer is now in a different room to my 360, so it's a hassle to sort it out. Did for a short while use Zune and got it to play music through the xbox, which worked great at first. But it was too much of a kerfuffle.

I've got a 32'' tv, so i often just use PiP and put the TV/radio on as well as a game.

If I'm playing through something with creepy music, etc, my mrs usually makes me put something else on...this could be anything as I politely let her decide...which can be a mistake.

Crackdown combined with the Hairspray soundtrack doesn't quite go. :)

It al depends on the game...
R6V2 - No, bcos i need to concentrate and just hearing some1 on a repel or ladder can save you from death
PGR4 - Yeah, i can actualy get bored if i dont play my own music while playin on or offline

But most of the time i like the just listen to the game and the music thats aready in it. sometimes you can lose abit of what that game should feel like if your listening to your own music...
Take Resi 4 for example.. take away the spooky sounds and tense music and the game just doesnt feel right

I will for a game like Forza. Although it is an incredibly good game, I can only listen to the roar of an engine for a short period of time.

If im playing story mode, on any game... no custom music.

If im playing something that im repeating... music is ALWAYS on.

Love my 360 for streaming audio from pc HDD and during in-game and any-game. One of the best features ever.

I do when I play UNO. I'm tired of its porno type music.

Other than that, I don't listen to any music while gaming.

I try to avoid listening to music in a game unless the game has no music. I try and appreciate the effort that went into providing a game's soundtrack as it usually has been done to augment the experience (IE Bioshock, Mass Effect) and using different music kind of slights the artistic intent.

Oh, but TF2? Yeah, a game without music just screams for me to pump the drum'n'bass.

I listen to music when I'm playing online and I don't need to pay attention to important dialog and stuff.

When I play single-player, I'll rarely ever listen to music. I like to get the story of the game through the cut scenes and dialog. Otherwise it's pretty pointless right? ;)

Yeah, but usually only online.

If it's offline, the atmosphere is usually completely ruined.

Indiana Jones to Halo 3 online.

Only when playing online, but not loud enough for everyone to hear, as that is extremely annoying. Lil Wayne always gets me pumped up though.

Constantly during online play.
If I'm playing an easy 1k, constantly.
I'll play through a game's storyline once without music, then if I missed any achievements I'll go back through it whilst listening to music.

I'll plug my ipod in if I'm playing something over again for achievements (like Oblivion or Mass Effect). I'll listen to music a majority of the time when I'm playing online, but I turn the ipod down a bit so I can still hear sounds like people running or rappeling. I don't listen to music if it's a creepy game like Bioshock or Condemned, and listening to my own music kind of takes away from GTA IV for me.

I listen to rap when I am playing Halo 3, for some reason, it focuses me and I play a lot better. If I am in a talkative group though, I generally will leave the music off though, because I think it helps the group more if there is full communication, thats just me though.

Other games though I just let the music that it came with play, except for NCAA Football 07. Simming 60 years of that was boring without Zeppelin playing in the background.

I never listen to music while playing. Sometimes if I'm doing stuff on my computer I might listen to something, but I just like play the game and hear what's happening in the game. If there is a soundtrack in the game, I usually turn it off.

I usually just leave it up to the game's soundtrack.
The only time I can happily do that is during a Tony Hawk game. The songs are always great, and if they're not the best, they're catchy as hell, so you got to love it! Seriously, those games have the best soundtracks. Practically every single one of them!

I have to agree. I love the songs they put in the games, and even found some good, new bands from them.

I hate the sound of the engines on racing games, so when I play them I listen to Metallica and always do better:rock. But the only exemption to this is Burnout: Paradise because it has good songs already. But I do plug in my Ipod a lot and listen to it, or I just play it on my Ihome.

It depends on the game. If I'm really concentrating, I'll not listen to music.

Usually, if I'm online, like CoD4, I'll listen to music, or if I'm playing Saints Row, I'll also listen to it.

I always have music playing in the background...Be it Radio 1, My CDs, or iTunes.

It depends what game I play. I listen to music for CoD4 and racing games but when it is a story based game I have to listen to the dialouge.
