Cliffy B reveals that the multiplayer modes will be tweaked so players can't just play for achievements.

Cliffy B has revealed that the achievement system for Gears Of War 2 will be tweaked to stop online boosting, according to an interview with CVG (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=188947).

What will happen is achievement progress per round will be capped, preventing players boosting for achievements.

"If you're going for headshots," he gives as an example, "you get one headshot that counts and any other headshots won't count towards your Achievement, so players don't just play to get headshots the entire round just to get Achievements."

We think this is a great idea as multiplayer achievements suffer from the problem that you can't tell who legimately unlocked the achievements (ie: without boosting) and they tend to ruin the online side of things because a great deal of the players are just there for the achievements anyway. Regardless, this news will stir up the Gears community but whether they react in a positive or negative way remains to be seen...
