View Full Version : Something odd on Bungie.net

Not sure if this is the right forum, but ...

I was looking through the jobs section on Bungie's site ( http://www.bungie.net/Inside/jobs.aspx ), and noticed some ... different ... requirements in the "Plusses" section of job descriptions. When looking at the "Generalist Programmer" and "Senior Graphics Engineer", I noticed that they both list: A love of combat on the high seas as a plus, and the "Senior Animation Engineer" lists: A penchant for Piracy on the Briny Deep as a plus.

Is it just some of their internal humour, or what?

It's possible that they're hinting at the current (soon to be released) project of Hired Gun (associated with Bungie because of their Halo 2 PC involvement). I forget the name of their XBLA game that's coming out soon, but it's based around pirates.
Lemme look that up for you.

Or they're just being weirdos and the quotes have nothing to do with anything.

EDIT: My bad, the developer company is actually called Certain Affinity, and their upcoming game is Plunder: http://certainaffinity.com/plunder.htm

They were the guys responsible for the Blastacular Map Pack for Halo 2, not the PC version.

Alot of the big companies give away their next releases by the job placements. I quote Blizzards hiring section for modellers and programmers:

Looking for character designers with high knowledge of Animal Anatomy. (Meaning game is going to have alot of animals)
Looking for X360 Programmers. (Indicating the game will also be on the 360)

For example you can tell a company is making a 3rd person or a 1st person game when they are hiring Unreal Engine programmers. This isn't specificaly true though but 70% of the time it is. There are alot of games that use the unreal engine and aren't neccisseraly a FPS but most the time they are.
