Allright, i read on the guide that this is one of the harder achievements to get. I got it yesterday without too much effort.
I did the following:
Start the Blitzkrieg scenario.
I picked the Germans: because ancient era new warriors start as veterans
In your 3 cities you get automatically buily 3 warrior armies
I chose for a domination victory
Research bronze working and iron working
Start attacking only the capital cities of other civs..
Once you capture a capital, build an archer army or 2 to defend it.
Start building legionaire armies.
I built 5 armies and then attacked 1 capital city at a time, so that they could not rebuild their defense units.
I won by 550 ad and got that achievement also..
Hope this helps other people

So legion armies are good enough, I won't need knights?

And by the way you are thinking of the 'That We May Live in Peace' achievement. The power never takes a back step achievement is win with 1 city on at least king difficulty.

Knights or not depends a lot on the shape of the land mass you get stuck on. For mine, I was on basically a big capital "J" shaped continent with my starting position on the east end of the cross, with the other civs spread down to the other end.

I used knights, or I would never have had time to get armies down there.

If you started in the middle of an X shaped continent or a landmass blob, legions would be just fine.

I got this achievement in the Beta Centauri Scenario. Just didn't bother anybody and went for an Economic Win.
