Anyone got an idea how many units of Rock Band that has been sold worldwide for the 360? It would be interesting to know since only the top 10 000 show up on the leaderboard.

I can't answer your question, but I can tell you that there were if I remember correctly 100,000 units NOT SOLD, at least not legally. When the game first came out I remember a news story out here in Los Angeles where a truck full of the game was hijacked and the Rock Band units stolen and more than likely sold on the streets and what not.

It was only 1000. Still, 1000 bundles will get you a pretty penny if you manage to sell them all (around $170k if my math is correct)

I know that HMX announced in May that it had shipped 3 million units of the game for the 360, PS2 and PS3. Even if you split it to thirds, that's a million 360 users.

*looks around a bit* According to vgchartz.com, the game has sold 1.68 million copies for the 360. 1.57 mil in the US, 110k in Europe. o_O

Thats just because they don't rate anyone 10,001 and below. Doesn't mean they don't exist.

whats interesting about RB sales is that even though it hasn't sold around 13 mil total like Guitar Hero 3 has....

The revenue for downloadable content is so insane that it evens that gap a ton.... I mean.... I believe there has been over 15 million songs downloaded.

and there isn't any distribution costs for RB to pay on the downloads.

On May 2, 2008, Viacom announced 3 million bundled units across the Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation 3 platforms were sold.
Over 15 million songs have been downloaded from the Rock Band store.
Sales of songs have been in favor of hard rock bands; Mötley Crüe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C3%B6tley_Cr%C3%BCe)'s single "Saints of Los Angeles", debuting as a Rock Band track at the same time as the release of the album of the same name, saw 48,000 Rock Band downloads and 14,000 iTunes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ITunes) downloads during its first week of release. The popularity of some tracks have also led to groups considering releasing more material for the game. Rush (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rush_%28band%29)'s alternate version of "Working Man (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Working_Man)" released only for Rock Band was met with so much praise from players of Rock Band that the group released the song for download through iTunes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ITunes), as well as considered making full albums available
