It's not terrible, just looks more like art than a photo, kinda like someone painted it. I'd like to see more to see what else you can do and if you've improved.

Are you touching up the photo or trying to digitalize it? what is the goal of the outcome?
Because the hair on the second one no longer looks real and looks cartoonized..

It's down graded the original..

If your looking to upgrade it like they do for models in magazines:

Dodge tool to bring up the skin tone removing blemishes/spots/uneven skin tones.
Duplicate the original images layer, blur > gaussian blur.. set the layer to hard or soft light, this removes details in the image making it look alot more cleaner.
To add tan to skin.. create a new layer, set it to colour, choose a pale brown colour and paint over the skin on the colour layer to tan the skin.
To add shine to hair..dodge tool again or create a new layer set it to overlay and paint in the shine with a pale peach colour brush.

This is pretty much all they do to turn the models in the magazines from spotty skinny teens into good looking girls lol.

The skin looks better now but the hair going across her face seems wrong its lost its deph and become blocky.. try using the dodge tool down the edge of it to give it back some of its reality.

Thats because I couldn't get the original image to match back again, it won't align properly but I will do it with another phto sometime.

If people gimme photos Ill give them a try :P

Spent 5 minutes going over your one with the dodge brush to remove the pasty skin look and bring out the texture of the hair.

Used the desaturate sponge tool on the back of the hair to give some of its shine back.

Just done it quickly to show you, for example if you look at the hair next to the right eye the picture on the left has become blocky and lost its texture.

Aye, I just couldn't be bothered :P

Anyway what happened to your left side of the face?

Went over with the burn tool slightly on the left hair to remove the blury bit, used a brush to big because I was rushing it and have gone over on the face a bit same with the back of the neck lol ^^

If I had more time I would of dodged/burned the face to create shadows and glow but I just done it to show you the difference in the hair xD
