View Full Version : little rituals you have on your 360

08-18-2008, 05:31 PM
I have a few rituals with my 360, like I delete a save of a game if I have the full 1000 GS, I always play it from 9:30 pm till 10:30 pm on school nights, because it helps me sleep....what are yours.

08-18-2008, 05:43 PM
I like to see what my friends are up to and if they beat me in games and such

08-18-2008, 05:44 PM
Always check out what the game has to offer before I start playing (first time play only), this normally means going into the options menu lol.

My ritual is simply this:

Turn on, read messages, decline a million chat invites.
Turn off, sleep...

Some days if I'm feeling particularly stupid, I may go outside, but lets hope I don't have to do that too often.

Oh and every night, I worship The Harmonix!

Delete saves for 1000G games.
Always see what people are playing before I got to bed and what the achievements are like.
Then punching a kitten in the face, then bed.

Why just a kitten, there are kids and them weirdos who say "Gamerscore doesn't matter..." everywhere!

Those people exist?

Yeah, there are a few, they like to play Halo 3 a lot, and have like a total of 200 gamerscore.

08-18-2008, 06:27 PM
The first time I play the game I always check out what the achievements are. ;)

xbox on fl, messages and one game of fable 2 pub games do get some cash (new 1)

08-18-2008, 06:49 PM
If the achievements are ridiculously hard in a game, then I won't play it, etc.

I like to compare myself to my rl friends because a couple of us have gamerscore races - I'm behind my friend by 4.3k but he had his xbox a full year before I did :P

When I get a game from gamefly I like to get at least 50% of the achievements before I send it back

I always unplug the power brick from the wall and the brick from the xbox every night, one night we had a storm and I woke up to see the LED on the power brick red, it scared me shitless so I do that every night now

I wouldn't say I have a ritual as such, but I more often than not always check my friends list and messages before loading up a game, just to see whether I can game with friends first (always more fun than on your own).

08-18-2008, 07:02 PM
I always see what my friends are up too when I turn on the 360 and check a few people's gamerscores and see what they are playing.

Weird perhaps, I don't care. :p

08-18-2008, 08:38 PM
I first put my XBox on, then check out forums (like now) and then switch to the XBox screen (PC/XBox is same screen, but I can switch with a button). Then I check out what my friends are doing.

Also, if I got an achievement, I almost always check it on XBox.com afterward >.<

In this order
1. Kiss my xbox
2. Turn it on
3. Check my messages
4. Check my friends
5. PLAY!

I turn on my xbox, play, and turn off when I get bored or have stuff to do.

08-19-2008, 01:02 AM
just check who's online and if they got any new achievements. pretty simple. lol

08-19-2008, 02:23 AM
Call some friends and go play with them. It is what the Xbox is made for.

08-19-2008, 02:35 AM
I send Birky a love message.

Why just a kitten, there are kids and them weirdos who say "Gamerscore doesn't matter..." everywhere!

I think Gamerscore doesn't matter! I'm also a kitten.

08-19-2008, 10:54 AM
I normally just see what my friends are up to and check specifcally for MHK21 my bestest friend.

08-19-2008, 11:14 AM
Turn my 360 on.
Go to the store buy 2 energy drinks. I then drink them until they are empty while playing the 360.

I also like to look at naked pictures of women while playing too.

08-19-2008, 08:06 PM
check to see whos online messages on 360 & on my laptop forums, a 360voice competition i made with a couple friends... (#2 spot behind the all time scorewhore friend amish haha) check how to get quick GS on games i rent / have then go do the 360 ritual

08-19-2008, 09:02 PM
real simple turn xbox on check what i can get better gs on put game in or if i feel like multiplayin call up a freind sort it out then play all night long:)

08-19-2008, 09:30 PM
I always check if a game supports subtitles before I play it.

Don't ask why, because I don't honestly know. I just like to have subtitles on when available. :p

08-19-2008, 09:41 PM
well i always turn it on with the controller even if i am standing in front of it, i then check my messages, then go through my friends list and see what every one is playing and then rummage through the marketplace and finally kick on whatever game i am playing

08-19-2008, 09:44 PM
First I turn on the system and then check for new messages. Next I check out what my friends have been playing and then I just start playing a game :)

08-20-2008, 04:12 AM
interesting thread.

like masked menace, i too sometimes kiss her...have to admit.

then, wait till the dashboard updates with ads/specials before doing anything else.

check inside xbox if the newspaper icon flashes.

always exit a game properly thru the guide.

check options for each game - this is legacy from being a PC gamer, not needed on consoles yet...

always shut her down thru the guide button "shut down console", not a rude power button press.

beer when playing online. don't ask me why, i'm fine with no beer while SP, but MP must have beer.

08-20-2008, 04:28 AM
Turn it on, check the friends list and messages, pop in a game, play till bored, and turn off with the power button. No powering down via the guide button on my system!

08-20-2008, 10:26 AM
Turn on, check friends , check marketplace, play games or watch movie. simple enough.

08-20-2008, 11:12 AM
I always go and see who is online, Look for a new arcade game then see if anyone is beating me at the game I am playing right now (Leaderboards and such)

08-20-2008, 11:46 AM
8PM-10PM on Fridays.
11AM-1PM, 6PM-7PM, 8PM-11PM on Saturdays.
11AM-1PM, 2PM-7PM, 8PM-10PM on Sundays.

No games on weekdays :(

Turn On.
Preheat to 400 degrees.
Insert game.
Pleh Game.
Insert into freezer.
Turn off.

08-20-2008, 11:56 PM
Turn on surround sound, then the 360.

I also try to concentrate on a certain game at a time, I'm a pretty new 360 gamer and I'm currently playing World Championship Snooker 2007 (yes I know it's old).

Always turn it off by going through the guide also. Just little things like that :)

08-21-2008, 12:50 AM
I unplug the power brick from the outlet every time I'm finished. I don't really know why.

08-21-2008, 12:55 AM
All I do is check messages then who's online as soon as I get on, and (for some reason) when I'm about to turn it off

08-21-2008, 01:04 AM
believe it or not b4 i play i turn it on and when i finished i actually turn it off..!

Who does that? You must waste a good 25 seconds total with that!

08-21-2008, 01:18 AM
I always check out the inside xbox newsletter and see what is new on the dashboard and look to see who is online.

08-21-2008, 04:22 AM
1. Turn on the console.
2. Run to fridge and grab some Mountain Dew Revolution.
3. Check messages.
4. See what games my friends are playing.
5. Check Xbox.com forums for people to play with.

After that, I put in Frontlines (my favorite game right now) and play.

Turn on 360 via Controller.
Check who's online on dashboard.
Put in game I'm currently playing.
Play till bored/goal achieved.
Turn off via guide, I never use the power button for some reason.

Delete saves of games that are fully completed.
