Im looking to get an HDTV and I can get a Samsung HDTV for $450 22 inch or an Insignia 26 inch for $490. So.....the questoin I am asking is, should I get a better name brand, and a smaller HDTV 22 inch or should I forget the name brand and get a bigger TV with a not so good name brand for a better price if I am prety much just using it for playinig Xbox 360?

A 22', I have a Sylvania 22' and its pretty good for its price it can run 1080i and it looks pretty amazing. But Sony has some good ones for low prices as well. Your choice not mine.

Speaking from experience...there are a few things in life that are actually WORTH paying more for. Consumer electronics falls into that category. Please do yourself a favor and pay attention to the brand. I would say Samsung all the way.If you're wanting quality and price...take a look at www.pricegrabber.com (http://www.pricegrabber.com).

They usually have some crazy deals going on. Most of the retailers there don't charge shipping either. If there was a way you could hold off until "black friday"...I would recommend that because there are going to be some ridiculously good deals on HDTV's then...mostly because it will be very close to the february change-over in broadcast format. If you can't wait until the day after thansgiving...then I would highly recommend you go to the above website. By the way,...I have no ties to it...it's just a great site.

I would go with the samsung one because i was in the same boat as you but I decided to get a 37 inch Samsung and it isnt such a good picture while im watching t.v because my signal isnt that strong but when i play my xbox 360 it is simply amazing I cant wait to get a HDMI cable and a new 360 because my one dosent have a HDMI slot lol, the amount of people who have said that HDMI is perfect i thought i will have to eventually get one lol. Like you said you are just using it for games then stick with the Samsung, you wont be dissapointed.

Obviously if size doesn't matter than get the 22" because of the higher quality brand, although if I were you I'd chose the bigger TV... It's a better experience trust me.

well i got a 22" samsung and once i got the HDMI cables into it, i noticed the difference straight away! it was amazing! but it depends how much room you have because i could not fit a 26" into my bedroom but samsungs are brilliant.

its been a while now mate what did you decide on??

Main things, make sure it has hdmi!
I was using a 42" Akai (never heard of the brand before, but it was big and cheap), with not hdmi in, and it's stamped right in the frame of the TV 1080i. But it would never actually go do 1080i, only 720p. Really sucked.
My new Toshiba will do 1080p, with multiple hdmi in/out and looks amazing.

You've probably already made your choice, but I say go for the name brand. :D
