Ok, the other day my 2nd xbox died. Its out of warranty and hasnt got the RRoD so wont get repaired for free.

Ive decided ill buy a new one seeing as the insides have been updated plus ill get a new warranty.

Problem im having is the rumours that the 360 is getting a price drop soon.

The rumour is that the 360 will recieve a price drop around the 7th of september in North America.

To anyone that may have inside information or knows anymore than i do:

- Is it likely this price drop will happen in the next month.
- Is this price drop likely to apply to Europe as well.

Thanks :)

The 360 has already had a price drop in Europe.

I doubt there will be a price drop as there was a large on back in February this year. :)

No one can be really sure of price drops though in the US until MS officially announce one, though I can see a price drop in the US in the near future.

I thought Microsoft already announced it? I'm probably wrong though.
I don't know if there will be a drop in Europe because I live in the US.

it's been leaked in 4 different ads (radio shack, circuit city, target, walmart) and the prices are dropping in japan already so yea, the price drop is real. acording to the ads starting this sunday.

$199 - Arcade
$299 - 60GB
$399 - Elite

MS is smart, if they do drop the prices to this they pretty much win the holiday and take a lot of sales away from the wii for people looking for the cheapest console.

Why dont you just wait until 7th September and then buy a new one?

If i wait till then and theres no drop ive wasted 4 days.

I have a severe gaming addiction, it would be like cold turkey for me.

As you can see from my gamerscore im a massive achievement whore, cant let the competition get ahead :P

If you go the Dashboard and then click on "Inside Xbox", and then go over a few, you will see that MS is dropping the prices of the 360's. Now I don't know if this is for the US and UK, or just for the US.

He just stated he got a new 360, so technically he can go check.

Also, I just went to xbox.com and it's says that there will be new prices on the 360 starting this Friday.

Don't any European stores have a price protection policy?

If I buy a Xbox at Best Buy today and it drops in price, I can go back and get the difference refunded.
