Apparently Harmonix is saying that Nirvana's Nevermind album was never officially anounced to be coming out for Rock Band...

If you are like me, one of the things you were most excited about was when Harmonix announced Nevermind (http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FNevermind-Nirvana%2Fdp%2FB000003TA4%3Fie%3DUTF8%26s%3Dmusic% 26qid%3D1219990406%26sr%3D8-1&tag=cooptimus-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325) from Nirvana as a full downloadable ablum on Rock Band (http://www.co-optimus.com/search.php?search=rock%20band). There's just one problem, Harmonix never said such a thing.

In a day and age where news is reported in split second blog posts, a lot of times things get taken out of context. Rock Band 2 was on display at a certain social gathering (http://www.theblueskittle.com/public/blog/?p=29) tonight, and Harmonix Community Manager Sean Baptiste was there. According to Baptiste, they never specifically announced Nevermind would be available, it was simply given as an example of classic albums that could appear on the service. According to him a press release or any other official material was never put out. But fret not, he said just because it was never officially confirmed doesn't mean it can't happen. So it looks like you and four of your buddies won't be jamming out to the best Nirvana song ever (that's Drain You (http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fgp%2Fproduc t%2FB000V695T0%3Fie%3DUTF8%26qid%3D1219990406%26sr %3D8-3&tag=cooptimus-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325) in case you didn't know) - but there's still hope.

So don't hold your breath... unlike the baby on the cover of the album.

EDIT:
I just noticed a quote from that article;
you and four of your buddies
Umm... I think they mean "you and three of your buddies". Idiots.

I was looking really forward to this the day I saw the album 'announced'. I hope they are making it!

Maybe someday, but I doubt it will be this year...

It's not the best album to put on there. Acoustic tracks like Something in the Way, frequent expletetives, and songs like Come as You Are i think would just be boring to play. Great song, dont get me wrong.

I never really expected this album to get there, what with Courtney Love and Dave & Krist's inability to make decisions about Nirvana, and the record labels trying to get as much out of it as possible

I'm not sure if I agree with that sentiment, considering RB1 had "In Bloom" and RB2 will feature "Drain You", both from the album Nevermind.

frequent expletetives

were there a lot of curse words? i don't really remember there being maybe one or two...

besides, if you're worried about censoring lyrics, then let's talk about 'blood sugar sex magik' coming out:

YouTube - Red Hot Chili Peppers - Sir Psycho Sexy

funky, funny song but seriously...how are they gonna do the vocal part of this song? it's all gonna be edited!

This was discussed in some other thread a while back... I forget where exactly, but mostly about the swearing in the Disturbed and Tenacious D songs. It would be cool if RB2 had an option to censor/uncensor in the options.

I know in Gears of War 2, there is an option to turn off the bad language and blood... so why can't we get an option in Rock Band to have the regular album version of a song, or the "radio edit"? Honestly, I don't have a strong stance either way, but it would be nice to have that option, and it would make everyone happy.

I know what youre sayin man' Im really hopin Blood Sugar Sex Magik Album still comes though, or at least any other album from RHCP it would be a refreshed sound added to rock band I was hoping they would put the yertle trilogy in, but I was still happy to see give it away, a fun song to sing.

I don't like Blood Sugar Sex Magik as much as some of their other stuff. Would love to have Aeroplane in there, but the band aren't so keen on their period with Dave Navarro. Or even some early stuff, their first album was great!

Yea, when I heard Master Exploder by Tenacious D was announced, I was really looking forward to singing it, then I realized all the swear words in it. But the swearing is what makes it awesome.

IMO "drain you" is the 6th best song on that album. Because it's a legendary album. To be honest, I'd prefer they just do a 'best of' like they did with the who. Alternatively, a 6-pack like Boston. No conflict with "Something in the way" and "Polly" not having drums, only the good songs. Boston did the 6 pack because the last song on that album was recorded in a different studio (and the worst song on the album).
Few quality bands have all their hits on one album, even a band as short lived as Nirvana. 'Best of' packs are where it's at. RHCP had excellent songs on mediocre albums, and they've been relevant for over a decade. One album won't feel complete.

Nirvana were around for about seven years, which isn't that short-lived tbh. Nevermind was their biggest album, but they've released a lot of other stuff (some posthumously, but still).

A best of would be quite good though. I'd like to see Heart-Shaped Box, Rape Me, About a Girl, Pennyroyal Tea and Sliver. To be honest, if they did like they did with The Who and got a 12 song mix from all their albums, i'd love it
