So I used to pay the monthly fee to MS with my credit card, I looked on the subscription screen and noticed a year of Xbox Live costs $59.99 through them. I checked average retail stores around here (Ontario, Canada) and the 12 month subscription scratch cards sell for the same, $59.99

So I found this website http://www.jasper1675.com/canada12gold.html

Basically this guy is selling 13 month live subscriptions for $45.99. I bought one through paypal and received my redeemable code in about 55min and it worked fine.

I'm just curious what options you guys use for your Xbox Live

I buy mine via Ebay. I saved 10, so 1/3rd of the price which is pretty good. You know you're not going to get ripped off either if you pay via paypal seeing you can claim the money back if the product doesn't arrive.

well i've only bought one so far and that was full price $49.99 US. my one for this year i won in the GTA IV contest.

assuming they're still charging in a year (hopefully not) i'll either do ebay or just buy a card when circuit city/best buy puts it on sale 10 bucks off.

I work at a game retailer, so I get a discount, so I just buy time cards. It's handy.

You didn't hear this from me, but if you're in a used game store, you could search the used boxes of GTA IV for the free month card ...

I've taken cards from EB Games because I asked at the counter initially (they have to either trash them or give them away, they can't sell them) but it's probably "stealing" anyways.

I used to pay via CC but no way in hell is that happening anymore. The store card is better anyways, same price and you get 13 months.

Yeah, it is stealing so if you find one, always ask if you can take it. Since GameStop/EB doesn't require boxes/manuals for games to be traded in, the insides shouldn't matter when reselling. It basically all depends on who you ask and how they feel.

its so funny that you want ti to be free when it would make the service much worse anyway i use prepaid cards as i want control over the subscription

I get alot of cash and gift cards for christmas, my membership is usually up around Jan. or Feb. so i for the last 2 years i've just done that.

I heard if you open a google checkout account and buy one from buy.com you can get it for under $40 from a promised retailer.

I get mine from ebay, seems to be the cheapest and quickest way to get it, they just send the code in an email, and I have never gotten ripped off :D

Lol you really shouldn't trust it! Microsoft lost a load of customers' card details I'd stick to buying the sub and space-bucks from a store/site.

I buy the cards from the stores. It's a lot safer than using your credit card.

Does anyone know how this guy is making money off this? It's a business. He's selling the cards and making money SOMEHOW. I can't tell how. Unless he buys them directly from Microsoft or something, but I doubt he does that. Wholesale, maybe?

You didn't hear this from me, but if you're in a used game store, you could search the used boxes of GTA IV for the free month card ...

Blockbuster man... Blockbuster. I know someone who went into Blockbuster and took about 8 1-month cards with all the GTA IV boxes he saw. And that was only in ONE store. Imagine if he had taken the time to visit some other stores.

And for all of you interested. Check out your local Sears. They usually have the vision cam bundles on clearance for $12 or so. If you can find one that almost has a code expired(or expired for that matter, it will work) then it is definitely on clearance. On the off chance that it isn't on clearance, just ask them for a big discount because it's expired.

Always buy game cards. Never link your credit card to your Xbox Live account. Never let Microsoft have your card details.

I'm guilty of that. Exactly why I'm canceling my membership soon and just keeping this gamertag I just started.

I use to buy everything with my Credit Card over Live, but it's way cheaper for me to get Live and Point Cards in stores. Not only do I receive discounts, but when they're on sale, they're even cheaper and I can buy them by the handful.

Speaking of Live Cards, here's a 12+1 Month deal from Amazon.com (https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=xbox+360+live+card&x=0&y=0) for only $39.96. You're saving $10.04 compare to the regular price.;) There is also a 3 Month Card for $15.96(originally $19.99) and a 1 Month Card for $5.96(originally $7.99). Just remember, Amazon offers free shipping to orders $25.00 and more, so that 12+1 Month deal looks like a steal.;)

I just bought one of those. I had a $10 gift certificate since forever, so I just spent $30 on my next year of Live. Thanks.

Anyway, I buy Live cards from the store and plug them in over xbox.com. I do the same with my point cards. Credit cards are evil.

I've been paying yearly with a credit card since getting my account on the original Xbox. It's nice not really having to worry about it.

I use Credit Card because I never need to worry about running out because if you buy a card subscription you have to go to GAME to buy a new one whereas credit card just pays for it automatically.

I don't pay for mine at all, I redeem my Air Miles to get the 12+1 month subscription cards.

Why would you do something like that? Are you aware there is a way to remove your credit card from being auto-billed every month? You can keep your GamerTag and GS.

Is everyone under the assumption that if you don't keep your membership GOLD it is going to be deleted???
