I see this golom at the casino and he costs 50000 tickets, but he's a level 1 and his stats don't look that great. Why does he cost so much?

It has 2 abilites: HP drain on all enemies
Combo guage max on all allies

I thought it would be cool, but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't justify using a slot for this one.

Ive just started using them,
At 1st they dont take much life from the enemy only about 140 or so points,
But once levelled up i think these will be really strong.
Plus the combo moves handy as well.
:D

The combo filler is indeed kick-ass but Orpheus does it as well, plus he has hella powerful healing abilities.

I'll just cut and paste from another thread since it's applicable:

I'm at level 17, and I figured APO would probably be some sort of "Magicarp" type monster which sucks initially but becomes awesome, and I was right.

I kept him in my party for a bunch of easy battles to level him and get him some SP. he initially doesn't even have enough energy to perform any attack at all, but once he levels a few times (very fast considering he's level 1), he'll be able to do a single attack.

You have the option of setting up an instant combo attack (raise everyone's combo gauge to 100), or "drain life" from every single square on the opposite side.

APO also has ridiculous amounts of health, so he can not only attack from anywhere, he's also a good shield.

Stick him into combat whenever you can to get more SP (just having him with you only gives him experience, not SP). With some SP, you can go in and tweak his Parameters.

He's got some incredibly idiotproof stats to raise. The only moves he'll ever have are both "Support" moves according to the classification system, so you never have to spend a single point in Direct, Ranged, or Agility. The only things you need to raise are EP and Support. Raise EP six times and that's one more attack you can do before you have to go on standby. Raise Support to increase the damage done by each attack.

Initialy you want to focus on giving him a second move so he's not just dead weight in a fight, so dump 5-6 EP upgrades into him. thats 30+90+180+300+450+680, I think. Dump at least 30 + 90 into Support right away as well, to give some kick to his attacks.

Once you start getting to the point where you've got excess SP, dump a few points into HP to make him even more of a tank.

Eventually with enough leveling and perameter-building, You'll be able to potentially send this badass into battle on his own and win. He heals himself as he does damage, so if they dont kill him on the first hit, and/or they don't have health recovery, they are SCREWED. He single-handedly beat a boss battle for me, I wont ruin it, but it is a boss that spawns henchmen. that drain health. APO gave back as good as they gave and better, and after about 12 rounds after everyone else had died, he won. I only have him with enough EP for 3 attacks, and his Support rating is around 375? I dont know exactly.

He is NASTY. He doesn't need more than 20 VP when he doesn't lose any because when he's in the party, you generally win on the first turn almost every time. I got him and Marlin Glave or whatever and they're my go-to golems.

They're VERY easy to get too. drop 500 bucks into the casino and get 25 tokens, play the slots (I played Lucky whatever) and play until you hit the big jackpot (I got 500 tokens). Reload if you go broke. Once you get that, save, and go play roulette. Play red or black until you get some decent change, saving and reloading periodically as necessary, then start betting on 1 when you've got 25,000+. you should hit it 2 or 3 times before you run out of money, so thats about 20k profit each time. Pretty soon you should have more than enough to last you the rest of the game.

Edit: Just wanted to add that there are a few areas in the game where they delight in throwing 5 or 6 low level monsters on screen at once hoping to wittle down your VP before you can get to a healpoint. Well, APO SLAUGHTERS guys in these areas in one hit, usually with overkill or overkill upper. E.G., I run into guys with 30-60 HP, like packs of dogs or something, and I hit each of them with APO for 111 damage. Great for powerleveling, if you're so inclined.

I upgraded Apo a lot didnt get that much stronger and i dropped him near the end of the game.

As for him not earning sp points i got them with him.

He is pretty good though since he takes health from all characters.

hi all when at the casino i spent about 25 minutes spending a lot of money on tokens and betting on bingo...and just as i was about to pack it in i got the diagonal 4 which gives you the odds of X1000 on your bet. NICE!!! now i've bought apo and the weapon cores and 9 gods ambrosias and have enough to buy apo over and over again....its a shame i can't..

The good thing about apo is that when your against a lot of enemies and all other people in your party have gone down you can keep using life drain, as long as you have enough MP you can stay alive forever!! =p

this is what i did to defeat the lord of earth dispite it nearly taking 200 turns...

are you sure you have to raise "support"? because in the skill description it says "direct". i only raised "direct" so far...
any help is appreciated :)

I'm pretty sure APO uses support.

im 100% sure he uses support. The reason he is still going up for you is that he levels up really fast when you get him so he seems to get stronger.

I also like to get his health as high as possible. Stick him in the front row to give other guys cover, he always heals himself so he will rarely die. I only wish i could give him supports like human chars... Otherwise he would be my fav char.

Yep definately support...
I think I may have done somewhat of a cheaty way of boosting my APO (which I have aptly renamed "Wibbles").
I have currently spent 3 hours (yes I know I know :-p ) playing the casino and converting my chips into TB (by buying the ambrosias and then selling them). Using the Mega Skill Gem, I have pretty much maxed out my Wibbles Support. I am yet to test them in battle... but I forsee them kicking some serious butt :-)

APO is a very, very good Golem to have - I used him from the moment I got him right up until the final few bosses. As mentioned previously, this Golem is great to have when facing multiple enemies, and if you charge him up using one of the other characters power charge moves, he can do ~600 damage to all enemies every turn.

The only reason I dropped him late on was because he's not quite as useful when facing one enemy especially if that enemy attacks are more powerful than APO's HP drain. But all in all, he was probably my most used Golem in the entire game.
