Yep, the Prison Sex lyrics are so great. There are so many interesting and even funny facts about their songs and lyrics, it's crazy. It's fun to get lost on the internet for hours on that band, their songs and albums, or even Maynard himself. I've read some funny articles saying what the song 4 Degrees is a reference to, some others that Maynard has a flair for interior design. Well, here's hoping for some new material from them soon.

Something I find beautiful is that if you go on Caduceus Cellars and read on Nagual Del Judith, Maynard writes a really touching story on his Mother. This is a quote from her: "Since I was a child I used to dream that I could fly. I would stand on one leg, look up towards the sky, and with my arms lifted out and up, my fingers stretched towards the sun, the wind would come and swirl all around me. And then gently lift me up into the air. This is how I would travel. This is how I was able to see the whole world." So Maynard had Judith Marie's ashes spread across his Arizona vineyard. He says, "These vines and wines are her resurrection and her wings." And Wings For Marie plays while you read the page. [Link] If you ever get a chance, you should definitely try some of his wines. He actually knows what he's doing, they are amazing. And you just might get a little bit of Judith, too. ;p

I've never heard of White Stains! I wouldn't be surprised if Danny has a copy though, lol. They definitely use lots of symbolism in their shows, or pretty much in everything they do. It's interesting. I'm with you, I think not only for the band but also for fans, if you don't understand the meaning behind those songs then they kind of know that you only scratch the surface of the songs/albums but don't really care to delve deeper.

Your poor friend lol. I wonder what would have happened if, after a show, he got invited to go backstage. "Oh my god, I would love to! I would be... Oh. Wait. Oh god. No. No. No!! Help!! Someone help me!!!" Hahaha

That's hilarious about his intro to Prison Sex, Stinkfist and Hooker With A Penis! I love all of those songs. I remember when I first started listening to them, one of the things that really drew me to Tool was learning all of the real meanings behind songs like those. I learned what the fibonacci sequence was because of Lateralus. Whenever Tool gets brought up between myself and a good girlfriend of mine, no matter what I say, she's convinced that Tool are perverts because they sing songs that are called "Stinkfist." It's hopelessly hilarious with her lol.

And oh yes, that's why I was surprised at why they haven't recorded that song. There is no doubt that APC would be open to doing a cover, lol! It has to be like you said, either The Cure or Ozzy isn't keen on letting them do it officially. Such a shame...

You sparked an interest with mentioning that Maynard is into the ritualistic practices like those with Crowley. I've vaguely heard that before, but I've never really read into it until now. I was just reading for a while on it, especially the Wiki page for Crowley. I also learned more about him that I've ever known too, it's interesting! But no, I haven't really seen much in terms of information about Maynard being into that. It seems like you don't hear too much about it, do you think maybe he's just trying to keep that part of his life more private? It's interesting though, if you do know any other tidbits about it, please do share (it doesn't weird me out at all).

I can't believe I haven't heard that before! Why oh why haven't they done an official recording for that? It's intertwined perfectly, and now I'm going to be really hoping when I do finally see APC one of these days, that they have a wild hair and perform that song again.

That sounds just like Maynard to have you sought out of the rafters lol. They've been such sticklers at the shows I've been to with photography. I managed pictures on my phone of the Tool show and one of the Puscifer ones by holding my bunched up hoodie up against my chest and then hiding my phone in it, with only the lens peeking out from deep within the folds of it, pointed at the stage (flash off of course) and just randomly snapping, not knowing what pictures I'm getting or how well they turn out until we get out to the car lol. He always has a lot of people patrolling the venue though. Ack! I'll have to make a Tool album soon on here and upload my crappy camera-phone pictures.

By the way, I had read recently that Danny Carey sat in for Tim ('Herb') Alexander on the Primus Tour going on right now. Wish I lived in the Mid-West to have seen those shows. Les Claypool has an interesting comparison of Tim and Danny in [this] article on Bloody-Disgusting, I quite enjoyed it.

Believe it or not, Maynard was really nice when I met him. It sucks they were so strict about the No Cameras rule, as I wanted a picture with him so bad. But I did take pictures that day of the event and the wines I got, I may upload them soon. But he actually seemed very (gasp!) down to earth, he shook my hand, made a few comments that I had made some good choices with the wines I had picked, and he thanked me three times in total for coming out to the Event. I had so much I wanted to say to him, but when I got up there, my mind went blank and I think I might have mumbled out a few lame comments like, "Thanks so much for doing this." When I walked away, I wanted to slap myself LOL. Yeah I have those 3 wines signed that I won't open, but I have ordered 4 more off of their website and I've opened and shared one with friends. The rest are still in my wine rack. I will open and try more of them, but I think I'll continue to save them for special occasions.

Puscifer is one of the most enjoyable nights you could have at a live show. It's almost like.. a Variety Show. They do little skits in between their music and it's so random how the songs go from one to the next. You'll go from Indigo Children to The Mission to Queen B. It's great, such a fun time! That's awesome that you found some footage of that show you went to with Tim drumming. I wish they had recorded Diary Of A Lovesong! Now I really want to hear it, I was singing it to myself by the lyrics you provided and I could just imagine it lol.

Wow, you got to see them with Rage Against The Machine. I would trade in 50 of my concert experiences to have seen Tool and RATM. That must have been incredible! Oh yeah, their dabblings into commercialism, they've definitely dipped their toes into that cesspool lol. But one thing I do admire about Maynard is that he's stayed out in Arizona and has lived there for a long while now. I think his (possibly Tools as well) commercialism might have taken a stronger turn had he been living in Los Angeles and gotten too consumed with the Hollywood life. Living in the desert and starting his winery business has kept him pretty grounded I think. Well, as grounded as you could be, if your name is Maynard James Keenan lol. Oh, that Napoleon Complex of his!
