Hey. Just passing by to respond to your post (Too lazy to edit my post)
You should absolutely get Silent Hill 3 and 4. SH3 is great with interesting and scary places to visit but it's kinda short. SH4 though is a real deal! Amazing story, chilling monsters and long duration. You should be able to find them easily for a good price.
Silent Hill 1 is not that good. You should try Origins though. It takes place before the events of SH1 but it has the same characters.
Eh, I'll probably hold off on it entirely. It never sparked much interest for me.
I could see that complaint. It would make the ending - specially destroying the station - seem utterly pointless and nonsensical if Jensen is back. He's a great protagonist, but devs need to learn how to let-go from time to time (like 343 did with Cortana ). Oh well, I'm sure whatever comes next for Deus Ex will be a while since Edios just finished up with Thief last year. I'll be looking forward to it! And I now understand why you consider DX your favorite 7th gen game. It was a great experience.
I'll look out for it. Still pumped for that game and hope we see it in late 2015!
And the loading screens! The Director's Cut couldn't be installed to the hard drive, so going between the Hengsha districts was so, so, so irritating. But I do agree sometimes getting lost allowed me to explore a little alley or some NPCs I wouldn't otherwise have met.
How was that game overall? I didn't hear much about it, really. Sucks there's no in-game map. You'd think that should be a staple in open-world games. In terms of Deus Ex: Universe, I don't think they'll be any meaningless collectibles. The e-books, although I don't think ANYONE could find all 29 without a guide, served as a nice supplement to Darrow's background/influence.
The article you posted todays about Universe perhaps being broken down into a trilogy kinda bothers me I feel as though it'll somehow "cheapen" the (no pun intended) universe/story.
That's an interesting way to look at it. Start the next game without really having it's foundation built on HR's ending, that way it's a mystery. Ahhh, I just hope for the next game…the cities are easier to traverse. I can't tell you how many times I got lost while in Hengsha.
It's funny, I haven't played a game like this in a long time. One that makes me think about reality in such a way…cause I've been thinking about it all day (as lame as that sounds). Neither ending seems morally right. Destroying Panchea delays the inevitable, Taggert's leaves the Illuminati in power, Sarrif's hides the truth and shifts the blame, and Darrow's seems cowardly. Ugh. I'm glad I played this game, dude. It was great. I'd venture it houses one of the best and thought-provoking endings for a video game!
Did you play the original Deus Ex? I know I'll never bother with it, but people said it's 1572x better and that the Bob Page guy from the credits is the main baddie.
I wonder what Deus Ex: Universe could be about is HR was a prequel? Surely Jensen wouldn't be the protagonist because there's no sense of which ending was canon?
Which of the four endings in Deus Ex appealed (if that's the right word) to you most? I had a hard time thinking which was the most justified. Sacrificing the facility made the most sense, but at the same time, I feel strangely sympathetic towards Darrow's message.
Swimming, kayaking, water polo, lifting weights, and of course, playing games.
