I'm going to finish the game within 8 hours hopefully, and already have a decent amount of information going about. Would be nice to see someone else have a list of a few of the dog tags, just to see a pattern, and see what I'm looking for exactly.
And you'd figure that you'd find dog tags on dead soldiers and/or in areas that have had battles before you arrived, but as far as I've seen no correlation.
The one I found was dangling off of a knife that was stuck on a door at eye level. No idea where the rest are... I'm trying to think outside the box here, as I'm really keeping my eyes open and haven't seen more. Thought special enemies may carry them or something, no luck thus far.
Single player takes about 7-8 hours, and you can play hard right away. It is assumed that you will probably need to replay a few levels via mission select, but it's pretty easy and should only take like 10 hours assuming you collect stuff on your first playthrough.
Also learned the hard way that my editing software likes to store stuff onto temporary memory, while I'm editing, so I basically have to restart my computer every time I want to add a new large file onto my workspace unless I feel like waiting for an hour. It's no fun.
Also, my last hunch is that weapon collectibles are tied to Battlelog, which is not online yet.
Finished first 5 levels, 1/15 Dog Tags, and I really keep an eye out for them. Noticed that meleeing enemies does take a "dog tag", although none of them have counted towards the ticker or achievement yet.
Also, have 3 videos already made for level specific achievements, and only missed 1 gold, so far... The game is pretty easy. Playing on hard, only died like 2 times other than trying for achievements.
I believe I've come up with a decent system finally.
You get unlocks from medals, and then picking up weapons also unlocks them. Picking them up counts as "collectible", earning them through assignments does not count, but will be included in the guide. So I know what to keep an eye out for when I'm playing. Now to go back and watch myself play for two hours of gameplay.
As for Dog Tags, they are extremely hard to find so far, unless you can also get them from sneaking up behind certain enemies.
Points show up on screen, kinda like CoD online. I got gold on the first 3 levels pretty easily. No time bonus.
I've confirmed with others that the in-game collectible tracker is beyond broken. It's like BF: BC2 where you pick up weapons off dead enemies, but it's confusing as some are picked up, and some are earned. Would be nice if worked, lol.
Yeah, it's weird, I have between 9-11 collectibles. Menu screen says I have 3.
I think picking up weapons of dead enemy's weapons will count, even if it's not meant to or something. You also unlock weapons for getting bronze/silver/gold on certain levels, but they don't tick towards the collectibles listed per level. It's kinda confusing.
Backed out of a mission, it switched my "current progress" difficulty to easy, and didn't let me pick that level, so I have to restart from the beginning again, just so that it goes back to hard for mission 2. And then I picked the mission, and it randomly started loading without ever actually doing anything. Black loading screen for 5 minutes...
EDIT: And I just picked up my first collectible in the game, and it gave me the achievement for having three. I'm so lost at this point, lol. The menu says 0/3, 0/3, 1/3, 0/2. Apparently this is equal to 3.
Aside from that, there are 3 dog tags, and 3 weapons to collect. I really kept my eyes open in every corner, and got 0/6, so that kinda sucks, haha. Also the "score x points ..." achievements are decently ok. Not sure if you score more on hard, but that's what I'm playing atm.
