Good God 15k+ on a Mini! Be fast as fuck though. What are their top speed? I imagine 0-60 is something like 3-5 seconds? Haha.

Yea, I wouldn't normally put a bike engine in a car, but 'Busa engines are beasty. 1.3 turbo, light as fuck, good power. In a small, light car like a Mini (and Z Cars builds are stripped out so they weigh next to nothing) it equals huge fun!

Some of the Z Cars ones on sale atm

Yea, have a poke round, can't do any harm!

Yeah there's some crazy bastards on YouTube with V8s in Minis, that's just mental. I'm surprised they don't just shred the tires when you put your foot anywhere near the throttle.

Bleh, talk of motorbike engines in cars doesn't do much for me, I've got 0 interest in motorbikes haha. Even though it would still be a car, still!

And I've obviously got a provisional so I can have a poke around on that site anyway and see what it's likely to be.

Bit of a job to get in, but a CR20DET from a Calibra Turbo can go in a Mini. I would love a Mini with any engine, but finding one that isn't just rust for little money is tough. A Z Cars one with a Hyabusa bike engine in the back and rear wheel drive is a bit of a dream for me lol.

Doesn't matter, you can still put your stuff in and get quotes for when you do get a license. Just go on, put in that you've just got your license and see what's what.

I reckon a Mini (old 60s style) with the engine swapped out to something like a 1.5-2.0 litre would be the most fun thing ever to drive!

And my details aren't on any site as since I can't drive I haven't got any insurance lol.

Yea, it's pretty much the heaviest car ever lol

Tis a bit of a blag but most sites ave your details so you can just change the car about to compare. Makes it a bit easier

I can imagine the 1.4 Escort is a bigger/heavier car than the 1.1 Corsa/Saxo so the Corsa/Saxo would have a better power:weight ratio.

I've no real idea what I'm looking at paying car insurance wise as I've not looked it up properly, the amount of info you have to put in to get a quote is annoying.

Yea, was all a bit rubbish lol.

I didn't expect a 1.4 to be that much to be honest. It's not like it was at all fast lol. Pretty much any 1.1 Corsa or Saxo was fater than it. Also, even now, a 1.4 Orion will cost me more to insure than a Swift GTi, but a good 100 or so! Where you live makes a big difference as well. I've just moved, and my insurance is near enough 200 cheaper for any car I've looked at at my new house compared to my old house. Bit of a bonus!

Ah yeah that's shit how if the insurance company don't contact you about your policy, they just update the police that your car isn't insured and you're picked up on their ANPR camera and busted for it.

Yeah I understand why you lost your license, at least you weren't banned for doing 96MPH in a 20 zone. ;-)

1.4 litre is a bit big for me, I'm aiming for 1.1 - 1.2 haha. I want to try and keep this shit as low as possible, and it'll do until my insurance starts coming right down, cause straight after it does I'm buying me a big ass Impreza haha.

Yea, lost it for no insurance. Long story, but essentially I didn't realise I hadn't paid the monthly installment as I was living away from home whilst at uni and I didn't get the letter telling me I hadn't paid until after I had been stopped by the police and issued a court date (no joke, I was in court on April Fool's Day!) 6 points and a fine, and the 6 points meant no more license as I hadn't had it for 2 years yet. Right blag. Did my test aagain a couple of weeks ago after 7 years (too bloody expensive!) and got it back so all good now!

I think you should be able to find something fairly cheap, depends how much you can go up to really. I'm looking at no more than about 1200, which gives me a few decent options, but at your age it's really difficult. Car I had when I lost my license was a 1991 Ford Escort 1.4, and it cost me 1200 to insure TPFT on my own. Had a bit of a bump and it went up to 1400! Then I lost my license lol.
