This is my first Achievement Guide and Road Map to 1000. I hope you all like it, and I hope it provides you with enough help to get all the achievements. I want to give a huge thanks to my friend known as Ghost Slayer. He contributed a lot to this Guide and Road Map. I also want to thank SetsunaFSeiei for the awesome Halo 3: ODST Achievement Guide Banner. Now to all of you who have been waiting . . . Prepare to Drop!

Halo 3: ODST Road Map to 1000

Overview:
-Estimated achievement difficulty: 6/10
-Offline: 44 = 925/1000:gsicon:
-Online: 3 = 75/1000:gsicon:
-Approximate amount of time to get 1000/1000: 12-22 hours
-Minimum number of play throughs needed: 1
-Number of missable achievements: 1
-Glitched achievements: 0
-Do cheat codes disable achievements?: No cheats
-Does difficulty affect achievements?: Yes

Introduction:
Halo 3: ODST has 925:gsicon: that can be obtained offline (or online) and 75:gsicon: that must be online to obtain (The 3 Vidmaster Challenge Achievements). The achievement that is missable is Good Samaritan. If you kill even one Engineer, you cannot obtain this and you will need to go through an entire new Campaign. The achievement that is opposite of this one (Naughty Naughty) can be obtain after you complete the game, without going through the entire campaign again (see achievement or mop-up for more details). There is another exception of missing an achievement, and this is if you do Co-op. Wraith Killer can only be obtained by one person, therefore if you are doing co-op, only one person can obtain this; you can replay the mission again after the player gets the achievement.

1st Play through:
To get all the achievements for Campaign you must play on Legendary (Difficulty Achievements are Stackable). The campaign is fairly easy but some parts are hard. I recommend doing it on co-op with 1 to 3 other people as this will make it easier. Remember to stay in cover when going red so you can recharge your Stamina (shields). Keep in mind where health packs/stations are so you can heal when injured (there will be an annoying constant beep telling you that you need health). Take your time because rushing doesn’t always work on the higher difficulties (use the advantage of surprise, since they added some stealth). The campaign takes about 7-9 hours long if you play through it normally, and don‘t go for the Audio logs. It is advised to not go for any Audio logs until you finish the campaign. This way you can load up Mombasa Streets and go for them all with undivided attention.

Mop-up (Campaign):
Now you will need to do Vidmaster Challenge: Déjà vu, Vidmaster Challenge: Classic and Headcase. If you missed any of the Mission Kill Achievements, Audio Files, or the achievement Naughty Naughty, then you can replay a mission, or the mission specifically for the achievement. For Audio Files and Naughty Naughty you can load up Mombasa Streets and go solely for those two achievements (Recommended to go for After you Complete the Campaign). For the Vidmaster Challenge achievements look at the guide below.

Firefight:
Now that you have completed the campaign unlocking all the firefight stages, you can start to go for these achievements. To obtain them all, you need to do get 200,000 points on each of the 8 stages. There are 10 stages but 2 of them don’t require you to get achievements. To get 200,000 points in each Stage easily, play 2-4 player Co-op. The higher the difficulty, the more points you will receive when you kill an enemy, receive a medal, etc. On Easy you start out with 1.3x (Difficulty Multiplier: 0.25x) on the first wave. On Legendary you start out with 4.5x (Difficulty Multiplier: 4x) on the first wave. The Multiplier goes up as you complete rounds/sets, but on the negative, skulls will be added as you complete rounds/sets.. You will get the achievement once the OVERALL score reaches 200,000. Each individual DOES NOT have to get 200,000 solely. The entire score of all players contribute to the achievement. Now there are two achievements in Firefight that don‘t concern Score. The achievement 'Be Like Marty' requires you to play a full round without killing a single enemy. To do this you must do 2-4 player Co-op (you can even plug in an extra controller and play as the Guest). Just hide and let your partner(s) get all the kills and you will get the achievement after one round (There are 5 waves in 1 round). Once the Round is over the achievement will pop up. For Vidmaster Challenge: Endure, you must pass Set 4 on 4 player LIVE Co-op on the difficulty Heroic. For tips, please read the achievement posted in the Guide.

I would recommend doing your first playthrough on Legendary. Playing with a Co-op partner would be beneficial and Legendary on Co-op is easier than Halo 3.

Found the first clue unravelling the mystery.

Note: I have been told by several people that the clue achievements did not unlock until they pressed :back: and checked their Intel. People have been saying the Clue achievements are glitched but this is not the case. You simply have to play through the campaign in one play through. You can not replay a mission, change difficulty, nor join another person's game; this will disable the achievement if you do so.

You will obtain this as you start the Mission BUCK: Tayari Plaza. You cannot miss this achievement.

Found the 3rd clue unravelling the mystery, alone or with another ODST.

You will obtain this as you start the Mission BUCK: Kikowani Station. You cannot miss this achievement.

http://www.360-hq.com/images/games/a...6adf34974c.pngHeal Up-5:gsicon:
Found the first Medical Kiosk and healed yourself.

You get this in the first mission: Prepare to Drop (aka The Rookie: Occupied City Center) during the tutorials. You have to find your first Medical Kiosk. There are multiple Medical Kiosk throughout the level.

Accessed and downloaded the city map to your VISR.

You get this in the first mission during the tutorials. Once you start your VISR Nav Data Tutorial, this will unlock. Unfortunately you can't skip the tutorial after you get the achievement.

http://www.360-hq.com/images/games/a...aafdc64af4.pngHeadcase-5:gsicon:
Finished any level with at least one Skull activated.

You must activate any skull and complete a mission; you can play on any difficulty. Play with the Skull: Birthday Grunt or IWBYD (Yes secondary skulls work) activated. Just activate this on the first level 'Tayari Plaza' or any level you desire.

http://www.360-hq.com/images/games/a...cefd3c2f1d.pngTrading Down-5:gsicon:

Vidmaster Challenge Achievements

Note: You must be Connected to Live to get these achievements.

http://www.360-hq.com/images/games/a...c717a62d7a.pngVidmaster Challenge: Endure-25:gsicon:

In Firefight, on any mission, passed the 4th Set on 4-player Heroic LIVE co-op

I would recommend the level Alpha Site. It took me and my friends 124 mins to achieve; at the end we had about 20 lives left. Just make sure you stay back and use Plasma pistols and Automags for quick kills. Also use the rocket on Cheifstans and in the bonus round. If you aim above the elevators and shoot as the grunts come out you will easily get the bonus lives. Click HERE and look at Vendetta's Tips on Endure.

http://www.360-hq.com/images/games/a...9a5c41a276.pngVidmaster Challenge: Classic-25:gsicon:
Finished any level solo on Legendary, on LIVE, with no shots fired or grenades thrown.

For this achievement do the level 'Uplift Reserve'. You can drive pass all the enimies and straight to the end of the level. You can use Ghosts, Choppers, and Warthogs. I can confirm that you can splatter enemies, and have a passenger and Turret operator firing at enemies. This will NOT disable the achievement. What will disable the achievement is if you press :rtbut:. Even if you are in the warthog, you are not allowed to use the Horn. And it goes without saying that you can't fire or throw grenades.

In the beginning flip the warthog straight ahead of you and get into it. Drive counter clock-wise around the rock and once you jump off the edge continue straight. You will come to a narrow pathway where wraiths, ghosts and choppers will come up. Simply stick to the right and pass them. Once you pass them there will be a Ghost on the rock. It is up to you to use it. Drive out the tunnel and go to the left. Once you see the pond drive to your right. Get out of the vehicle and climb up the rocks (this is to avoid those turrets further up ahead). There will be a ghost waiting for you. The rest of the level is easy and needs no further explanation; use youtube if you need to.

http://www.360-hq.com/images/games/a...e9ec2b04d7.pngVidmaster Challenge: Déjà vu-25:gsicon:
Completed Highway on 4-player Legendary LIVE co-op, with Iron, and no Hog or Scorpion.

You must be on legendary and have Iron on for the Rockets/Mongooses to spawn. First you must defeat the enemies in the beginning of the level and then go to the elevator. Once you are on the Highway walk straight and you will eventually find a tunnel which leads you underground. Go inside and you will find 2 Mongooses and 4 rockets each with 1000 shots. (Thanks to icypinksmurf). Now all you do is drive and use the Mongooses and rockets to protect the Elephant and kill all the enimies. You can also board a ghost and use it. Once you get to the end of the level and you must repel the attack, you can keep using the rockets and there are also 2 turrets at the top in the back of the level. This may take a few tries but it shouldn't be too time consuming.

Mission Kill Achievements:

Note: There is an Achievement Tracker for the Achievements with 'Kills' in them and you can only obtain the 'Mission Kill' Achievements on the level which is stated in the description.

http://www.360-hq.com/images/games/a...f6c7a950b0.pngWraith Killer-5:gsicon:
Killed all Wraiths in Uplift Reserve

There are 6 wraiths in the level and you must kill all 6. If you are doing this in co-op, only one person can obtain this achievement. Player 1 (Host) starts with a Spartan Laser; use this to kill 5 of them, and then board and throw a grenade inside on the last one (or you can choose a different method).

http://www.360-hq.com/images/games/a...8649a77d07.pngBoth Tubes-5:gsicon:
Got 10 Rocket kills on Kizingo Boulevard.

Note: Melee Kills with the Rocket Launcher will not count towards the achievement.

You start off with 2 rockets on this level. If you are doing Co-op, your partner will also start with 2 rockets. It is recommended to go for this achievement with at least 2 people. Take the extra Ammo from your partner(s) if you have any partners. Another way to get extra ammo is when you have 1 shot left, trade weapons with a team mate and then kill him. Pick up the rocket launcher and there should be extra ammo. (Thanks to el panel0n) When you begin the level there will be Columns with some orange lights. Continue to the next area with Columns and Orange lights (only a 10 second walk). To the left a bunch of grunts, some jackals, and a few brutes will appear. Pick a spot where they're all bunched up and shoot a rocket (You can easily get 3-6 kills in one shot). Use the rest of your rockets wisely and shoot at clusters of enemies (if you react quickly, shoot another well placed shot. There will still be quite a few enemies left grouped together).

An alternative method is to Drive the tank and have allies sit on the side and kill enimies with Rockets. This will count towards the achievement. (Thanks to Toasty411)

http://www.360-hq.com/images/games/a...6b6c0a24a4.pngLaser Blaster-5:gsicon:
Got 10 Spartan Laser kills on ONI Alpha Site.

You can easily get this as there are several Spartan Lasers throughout the level. But at the beginning only player 1 starts off with it on co-op. Straight ahead of you will be a wraith and lots of enemies. Aim towards the wraith and try to line up as many enemies as possible in your line of fire. You can easily get 2-5 kills (or more) in one shot and you have 5 shots in total.

http://www.360-hq.com/images/games/a...d94ffe9f1f.pngDome Inspector-5:gsicon:
Got 15 headshot kills on NMPD HQ.

Obtain 15 headshots with any weapon that can get a headshot: Automag, Carbine and Sniper. Just simply use the Automag and headshot Grunts, Jackals, and Brutes with no Shields. You will get this in no time.

The Flamethrower is located after the 2nd drop near the area that is frozen. It is behind a glass-like wall in a corner.

Killed no Engineers in the city at night during entire campaign, alone or with another ODST.

To do this you cannot kill any Engineers (they float in the sky and give over shields to their allies). If you kill one (shown by achievement tracker) reload checkpoint/kill yourself. You will get this when you Start the Mission: Data Hive (the first mission which isn't a flashback mission).

http://www.360-hq.com/images/games/a...a2162ea731.pngNaughty Naughty-5:gsicon:
Killed 10 Engineers in the city at night, alone or with another ODST.

Simply kill 10 engineers before you Start the Mission: Data Hive (the first mission which isn't a flashback mission). If you shoot them and they self-destruct they will count towards the achievement (I recommend charging a plasma pistol and shooting them). The Achievement tracker will tell you if it counts. Recommended to go for on second playthrough, or after you complete the game you can reload the Mission: Mombasa Streets. Search all the Sectors for them and eventually you will find them. If you can't find enough, they will eventually respawn (sometimes) if you aren't in the area. If you are still having trouble finding some, and it seems to take too long to walk around the city, then go to the Supply Cache (Green Circle). What is at the Supply Cache might you ask? Only two beautiful Mongooses.

Kill Achievements:

Note: There is an Achievement Tracker for the Achievements with 'Kills' in them and you can obtain these achievements in any Campaign level or Firefight level.

http://www.360-hq.com/images/games/a...e620fd68c1.pngBoom, Headshot-5:gsicon:
Got 10 automag headshot kills in any level.

Get 10 automag headshots. The automag is the pistol you start out with. You can obtain this in the very first Mission: Prepared to Drop (aka The Rookie: Occupied City Center) if you want to. Grunts and Jackals take 1 head shot to kill (on any difficulty). Brutes also take 1 head shot if you take off their shields.

http://www.360-hq.com/images/games/a...2ae86e4d61.pngStunning!-5:gsicon:
Stunned a vehicle with an overcharged plasma pistol and quickly killed the driver.

Simply get a plasma pistol, charge plasma pistol and shoot the enemy vehicle, then switch to secoundary gun (Automag is recommend; go for head shot) and kill them. (Your teammate can shoot the plasma pistol and you can finish them off, or vice-versa). Uplift Reserve have lots of vehicles so I’d recommend doing it there. You will see many enemy vehicles throughout the game

http://www.360-hq.com/images/games/a...959efd4bdf.pngEwww, Sticky-5:gsicon:
Got 5 sticky grenade kills in any level.

Sticky grenade 5 enemies. You can use Plasma grenades or Spike Grenades. You will find many grenades in a mission, so you can choose what ever level you want to.

http://www.360-hq.com/images/games/a...e3989bc537.pngDark Times-5:gsicon:
Killed 5 enemies while using VISR mode.

Simply press :xbut: and go into VISR mode and kill 5 enemies. You can easily obtain this in the first Mission: Prepare to Drop (aka The Rookie: Occupied City Center).

http://www.360-hq.com/images/games/a...8830e17b09.pngMy Clothes!-5:gsicon:
Plasma Pistol Overcharged and quickly killed 10 Brutes.

Preferred Method: Plasma Pistol a Brute or a Jackal with a shield and switch to the Automag and kill them (go for head shots; it takes only 1 head shot). Your teammate can shoot the plasma pistol and you can finish them off or vice-versa. Remember you must kill them quickly.

Alternative Method: Plasama Pistol a Brute or a Jackal with a Shield (make sure you are only a few feet away from them) and then Melee them. You will have to Melee the Brute several times which may take too long, and there is also the factor of being killed/injured more easily since you are in the center of the battle.

http://www.360-hq.com/images/games/a...ddbb88da46.pngPink and Deadly-5:gsicon:
Got 10 Needler supercombine kills on any covenant.

Supercombine kills are when you unload enough needles for them to explode and kill them. Simply do this to 10 enemies. I would recommend the Mission: Tayari Plaza, Data Hive or Uplift Reserve as they have vast ammount of needler ammo.

Scored over 200,000 points in Firefight on Last Exit.

All you have to do is score 200,000 points in firefight. In co-op the total of all the players scores counts to the achievements. It is recommended to do 4 player co-op to get points faster. You can easily achieve 200,000 points in 1-2 hours with 2 player Co-op on Easy. If you have 4 players, I would recommend doing normal; you can get 200,000 points on normal 4 player Co-op in 40 mins - 1 hour and 20 mins. If you have 4 skilled players, you can do Heroic; it will take 30-50 mins depending on the level.

Information on Firefight:
  • There are 5 Waves in a Round, and 3 Rounds in a Set. At the end of every Set, there is a bonus Round which turns on all the skulls (giving you a higher multiplier and extra lives if you obtain the minimum ammount of points specified) which lasts for 60 seconds. If you die, your lives will not be reduced.
  • There are 4 difficulty multipliers. Easy = 0.25x; Normal = 1x; Heroic = 2x; Legendary = 4x
  • Obtaining Medals give you extra score. (Ex: Killing Frenzy, Double Kill, Beat Down, Head shots, etc.)
  • There is a time limit but it is not shown. When there is 5 mins remaining, it will notify you. There is a time limit for every round.
  • There are skulls activated in Firefight. Starting on the first set, you will have one skull activated. As the rounds get higher more skulls will activate. On set 2 the skulls will reset and this time you will start with 2 skulls, and so on (3rd set starts with 3 skulls).
  • The Skulls which are acitvated during Firefight are: Iron, Black Eye, Tough Luck, Catch, Famine, Tilt, Mythic.
  • If you play solo, every round that you beat you will gain 1 extra life. 2 player Co-op = 2 lives per round; 3 player Co-op = 3 lives per round; 4 player Co-op = 4 lives per round.
http://www.360-hq.com/images/games/a...d103d53797.pngBe Like Marty-10:gsicon:
In Firefight, finished a full round without killing a single enemy.

To do this you CANNOT kill anyone untill all 5 waves are over and the 2nd round starts. The achievement will pop-up as Round 2 begins. If you haven't already guessed, this means you need a Co-op partner to kill all the enemies for you. Recommended on easy.

Stunning!-5G

You can do it very quickly right at the start of Boulevar Kizingo on Normal.

Both Tubes-5G

Right at the start, go downstairs, ignore the jackals and look for a group of grunts with a brute or two who are coming out of a downlevel road and aim for the center of each groups, you can kill 6 with the first rocket if you aim it well, so 4 more its a piece of cake. Ill try to make a video later.

For the Flamethrower in Data Hive, when you reach a room that seems frozen, dont turn right and down, go further and look for a medpack on the wall, the Flamethrower is very near. Hope you like this cheap-map ive done :p

Simply Sticky grenade 5 enemies. Spikers do not count as a sticky so must use plasma grenade.
I think Spikers do count, im not 100% sure but i remember doing it with spikers when i was out of plasmas.

This is my first contribution to an achievement guide, so Venomidez i hope you like it.

Edited with a few things :

First of all, things to get in mind before starting the game :

Audio Collectibles achievements : They are cumulative, you can even change the dificult to Easy and try to get all of them after finish the game without any problems selecting the Mombasa Streets stage, so dont get stress looking for them and enjoy the game :)

Good Samaritan and Naughty Naughty achievements : I highly recommend to not kill any of this creatures and get the Good Samaritan achievement first, because you can kill them while looking for your missing audio files after finishing the game, but 2 thing : They are not cumulative, and sometimes they are self-destructed, and it will not count towards your achievement, so the first thing when you see one of them is killing, or at least making damage to them. If you damage them and then became self-destructed, you get the count.

Sorry for my grammar, im not English native, blah blah blah :woop:

I think Spikers do count, im not 100% sure but i remember doing it with spikers when i was out of plasmas.

This is my first contribution to an achievement guide, so Venomidez i hope you like it.

Nice Bit of Roadmap.

I would like to help with the rest of it, So message me if interested. I Would gladly help.

Btw, For the My Cloths!

An easier method of doing it

Is use a Plasma pistol, Shoot them up close, Then just melee them. Way easier than shooting, switching, Shooting.

Add that ^.^

You do realise it's against the guide-writing rules to write up a guide before the game comes out or even before you've got the majority of the achievements?

This is not the first and it wont be the last game to come out before his release date, indeed a lot of people have already BOUGHT this game in a real store, so i dont see any problem here.

Before you've got the majority of the achievements? What are you, a fortune-teller or something? How do you know how much achievements i have without looking at my gamecard?? I´m 32 of 47 , and 12 of them are Live or 4 players related achievements. All guides have a working in progress status at the beginning... i dont see any problem here too...

"Favorite Halo" ????

Dude, you don't even have 200G on Halo 3!!!! How can you tell?!

Can't spot ODST in your playlist either.

I couldn't agree more.

It's unfair towards others.

But thanks for the guide, it'll probably help a little.

Well on Legendary if you switch to the Automag you can shoot them once in the head and it will kill them. Much more efficent and faster. You can do it at a distant so you wont be damaged. I tried the Melee way before on legendary and it takes more than 1 melee, which means you may not kill them in time. Also, my friend is writing a Road map (he is done just editing a few things, then I will edit it). But thanks for the offer.

EDIT: The punching way is more time consuming and annoying. It takes 2 punches to kill a brute on EASY (after u shoot them). Meaning you better punch twice fast. And if you think about it logically, you shoot the plasma pistol from a distant and then switch to your Automag before the plasma pistol hits the targert. Then u shoot them once in the head. The Automag way is much more effiecent and way easier. Unless you suck at aiming, Automag is definitely the way to go. Besides, I know that you can punch them. I just put down the recommended way.

Thank you =) I agree

As for against the rules for writing a guide, I apologize but I'm not going to take it down. It can't hurt and some people do have the game legitmently.

xandura 09-07-2009 10:02 PM

@ trikkie

exactly! I played a looooooot of custom games on halo 3, and that was it, now on ODST I'm addicted to it, can't stop playing it, I'm having way more fun than any halo before

Jawmuncher 09-08-2009 04:48 AM

It takes 1 to 2 Hours for 200,000 on each map if you play 2 players on easy?

That's way to long, what about 2 players on normal or hard?

Not sure. But if you look at the information . . . it says Easy = 0.25

So if you play normal your score will go up fast. But I recommend playing normal with at least 3 people. As for heroic, I wouldnt recommend it except for going for the Vidmaster achievment, or if everyone who is playing is above average.

Playing on easy with 2 people guarantees you the achievement (even for people with lack of skill; might take longer). Some maps take an hour, and some take an hour and a half. I have yet to see a map that takes 2 hours, but I just put it up there because you never know.

Ahhh ok thanks for the clarification.

You also get more points if you dont take damage and you kill enemies in a short period of time. I´ve done 1000 points only killing a bunch of grunts. Also you dont score the same for normal killing than headshot and that. Anyway it seems very difficult.

By the way, here it is the Flamethrower video. I hope you´ll enjoy it :woop:

mosin360 09-08-2009 05:49 PM

Are you able to play on the difficulty Legendary your first time or do you have to unlock it?

Thanks. My friends and I can't wait for the release here in the States.

There actually isn't anything against making a guide before the game is available to everyone else. I think the only thing they worry about is that the quality of the game is good and not rushed to be the first guide up. I've seen a couple of guides that went down before the game came out..... but if you have the game already, have a majority of the achievements and not just blowing smoke out your ass then you should be good. Just follow the guide format in the how to make a guide in the faq section and you should be good. Make sure to follow that format when you turn it in because the guide team don't really like fixing up guides that aren't formatted properly.

AnimeCommander 09-08-2009 10:54 PM

Good guide and nothing yet spoiled for me.

Now don't wait for an Audio Log guide, make one! :D That'll start adding the spoils.

GhOsT SLaYeR 09-08-2009 11:16 PM

YouTube - Halo ODST - Flamethrower - I Like Burn

lmao, that is awesome. The only thing is the quality is low and it made me even more confuse watching the video. The map is better imo . . . XD. But I will post it up. Though if u could make a better quality one . .thatd be great (my friend might make one if u dont hurry =0)

IceBlox 09-10-2009 12:00 AM

Good guide, can't wait for this anymore!

k2345 09-10-2009 01:30 AM

Interesting......

to get the achievement for my clothes it says your have to overcharge your plasma pistol and kill brutes....

BUT in the above video he clearly gets the achievement after killing a jackel

so thats 1 glitched achievement already lol

I guess. I even said in the achievement guide u can kill the Jackal . . . but only Jackals with shields. If you disable their shield then kill them right away it counts too. Either it is glitched or they messed up and meant to disable someones shield and kill them quickly.

iamreverend84 09-10-2009 05:46 PM

Audio Logs: I have found 17 so far, dunno if anyone has posted about this but the easiest way to find them is just hunt round the streets and listen for a ringing phone, that signifies that one is nearby, also they glow in a darker colour from anything else when using VISR. Hope this helps and sorry if this has already been posted.
