-Approximate amount of time to 200http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.jpg: 10-15 Hours

-Glitchy achievements: Some achievements seem to not unlock for some people. Check the forums for various problems.
-Unobtainable achievements: None
-Extra equipment needed? A second controller. (Online co-op will nullify this if you do it online). This arcade game costs 1200 Microsoft Points.
-Avatar Awards: There are two avatar costumes, 1 for a male avatar and 1 for a female. You get a Lara Croft jungle suit, and a mercenary outfit.

Introduction:

Lara Croft: Guardian of Light is an arcade game with easy achievements and mostly obvious collectibles. It is a cooperative game but you can achieve everything by yourself (even the cooperative achievements). You may have to replay levels while searching for collectibles, as some areas close behind you. You can play the entire game on easy.

Step 1: Playthrough gaining collectibles (Artifacts, Weapons,
Relics, Upgrades)

I suggest first going through the game trying to collect as many collectibles and doing as many challenges as you can as you beat the game. This will prepare you for completing time challenges and score challenges which are easier with better equipment. You will need to know the layouts of the levels in order to stand a chance on some of the various challenges.

For a guide on all levels to get all collectibles/challenges, go HERE.

Step 2: Finish Score and Time Challenges

In order to gain all of the artifacts, weapons, and relics in the game, you have to beat every level with the highest score goal (for the weapons) and complete all of the time trials (for relics/artifacts). Those are just on top of the other various challenges within the levels. Others include collecting 10 Red Skulls, completing random challenges, doing puzzles in tombs, and finding them in the environment. You should have gained most of them in your first playthrough. Now you must replay these levels, possibly several times over, trying to go for the times and scores. Using your best equipment will be a must.

Score Challenges: Do not die, or you will lose a lot of points. Get your relic meter high by collecting gems (which you should be collecting whenever you see them) and by not getting hit. Your relic meter reflects the points you gain for each enemy kill, as does the type of enemy you are facing. So kill enemies but try hard not to get hit. Sometimes it's critical to have you relic meter up when facing numerous enemies. A lot of the challenges are very easy, but there are a few tough ones.

Time Challenges: You will want to roll as much as possible. Dying will result in wasted time because the game will count after reloading the checkpoint. Put on artifacts/items that have +speed on them. Avoid as much contact as possible. Try to think outside the box on some cases. What's really the fastest way from point A to point B? Get creative. If you see a grapple ring, many times you can just use your spear to get over something faster.

Step 3: Cooperative (or 2nd controller), Finishing Up

The cooperative achievements can all be done by yourself. The first level is very easy to do (you controlling a second controller) and you can get the achievements that way. The only one you can't get is Return to Sender, which you must get on the 2nd level just shortly after the level starts.

Conclusion

Overall it's a fairly easy game. You can get the cooperative achievements first if you want to. The most difficult achievment will be Tomb Raider, since you have to collect all weapons, artifacts, and guns. Also, if there is a second account logged in, they will get all the achievements too (except for Return to Sender, which isn't technically a cooperative move). The health and ammo upgrades are not tied to any achievements, but will be very helpful to obtain for the challenges.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...5/+0P-5g==.jpg A Friend in Need 20 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png
Play Co-op mode

This is the easiest achievement. Start a game cooperative with a second controller and you'll automatically get this, without even playing.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...5/+WL2Uw==.jpg Leap of Faith 15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png
Catch Totec with the grapple while he is jumping over a death fall

You must do this in cooperative mode (you can do this by yourself with another controller). Move to the first area that you can die from a fall. Have Lara stand close to the edge, and leap over to your pending death with Totec. Now with Lara, quickly press :rbbut: to grapple him. It will automatically target and save him.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...5/+IIOwA==.jpg Return to sender 15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png
Reflect an enemy's projectile back to him using Totec's shield

While playing as Totec, you must hold :rbbut: and :lbbut: to put your shield in front of you. This can be done earliest in the second level (Temple Grounds) at the beginning. Time it right, and your shield will reflect the projectiles back at the enemy. You must reflect the projectile back at the enemy who fired it, killing another enemy will not count. You can start up a cooperative game having you be Totec (only the player controlling Totec will get the achievement). Start up Temple Grounds and you can get this. You must beat the first level in order to gain access to this level, but that's still very easy to do by yourself.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...5/-SDlOQ==.jpg Three birds, one stone 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png
Kill 3 enemies with one bomb

This can be done on the first level, but it's okay if you don't get it. The next couple levels will give you lots of oppurtunity (especially Spider's Tomb). You can get up to 10 kills with the Remote Bomb. To use the bomb, press :ybut: in an area you want to lay the bomb down. Once more than 3 enemies are within the red circle it projects, hit :ybut: again. The enemies must die in this scenario.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...5/-MAdqg==.jpg Jump Jump 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png
Jump from Totec's shield while he is jumping

This must be done in cooperative mode (you can do this by yourself with a second controller). This can be done right away on the first level. Hold :rb: with Totec and have Lara jump on his shield. Now press :abut: to jump with Totec, and :abut: to jump with Lara as he is in mid-air. It doesn't matter which character you are playing as.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...5/-uEUHw==.jpg Beat a better mousetrap 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png
Activate all of the spikes at once in the Spider Tomb spike field

This is aquired in the third level (Spider's Tomb). You have to run through the giant spike trap in that level so that all of the spikes are up. Follow the video for a way to complete this, though it's not the only way (you don't have to end in the middle, you can leave the side).

Earn the top score objective in any level

Every level has three different point objectives. The top score is the highest score out of this list. A really easy level to do this on is the first level (Temple of Light). Here is how the point system works:

*Gems: 1,200 Points each. These are very important to collect while going for score challenges. Not only do they give you more points, but they help a little bit with your Power Meter. They are mostly found around the environments, but can also e dropped by enemies.

*Enemies: You get a base score per kill. The score depends on the type of enemy you kill. When your Power Meter is halfway, you will gain 2x per kill. When your Power Meter is completely filled, you will get 3x per kill. If you get hit by anything, your Power Meter will be empty.

*Survival: For each death you lose around 5,000 points. Dying once or twice can hinder you from gaining the top score.

It's important to visit the glowing tombs while going for points, as some have gems or enemies in them. If they don't, just exit.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...5/-Cb4gg==.jpg Seeing Red 20 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png
Collect all 10 red skulls in any single level

Each level has a challenge to collect 10 red skulls. You will be getting all of these done if you want to collect everything. The skulls are mostly easily seen, but there are a few that are well hidden. The first place you can get this achievement, is of course, level 1 (Temple of Light). You will be collecting all skulls in all levels of the game. See "Tomb Raider" achievement details for more information.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...5/-cYAEQ==.jpg Overachiever 15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png
Complete any level-specific Reward Challenge

You will be having to do a lot of challenges throughout this game. Hitting the :back: button, you can view objectives. There you will find your challenges. Complete any of these, on any level, and you will get the achievement. The very first one you can do is in the first level (Temple of Light). You will come to 7 Spider Pots (they are not the 7 urns you first see at the start of the level). Jump on each without hitting the ground.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...5/-bkc9g==.jpg Tomb Raider 25 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png
Collect all relics, artifacts and weapons

Each level contains relics, artifacts, and weapons. You gain these by doing the challenges and finding them in the environment.

-Complete every top score challenge.

-Complete every time challenge

-Found within levels.

-Other various in-level challenges.

Click on this guide HERE for more help on all of the collectibles/challenges in every level.

Secret Achievements

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...ts/1375/s1.jpg Instant Sushi 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png
Vanquish the summoned beast in the watery depths

You will be running from this beast in "The Jaws of Death" (level 8). This is story related and can't be missed. When you get to the end of the bridge, step on the pressure plate and pull the handle on the right side quickly.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...ts/1375/s2.jpg Vanquish Xolotl 25 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png
Regain the Mirror of Smoke

This achievement will come with the completion of the game after you beat the final boss, Xolotl. The last level is Xototl's Stronghold. The best weapon I found, was the shotgun (I used the Golden Shotgun obtained from getting the max points on The Mirror's Wake). Also ammo regen is good, and so are items that give you +1 to weapons. Below is a video on how to beat him. Some people have reported it not unlocking after watching the credits, but skipping the credits seemed to work.

It does not work for Return to sender.

Jericho Cross X 08-19-2010 01:58 PM

excellent guide, but I think 3 / 10 is exaggerated, because it is generally made for 3 games absurd easy, but Tomb Raider still must collect items, do the challenges in time (for the achievement of 25 g) i would put 4,5 o 5.

Derblington 08-19-2010 02:18 PM

"Instant Sushi" is achieved after completing level 8, The Jaws of Death.

"Vanquish Xolotl" is achieved after completing the last level, 14, Xolotl's Stronghold.

Both are story related and cannot be missed.

I meant the game cost 1200 MP. Changed my description to stop confusion.

You can beat the stairs by yourself. I did it in one try. Just have to multi-task :) You will have to sacrifice Lara at the top, but you can always finish the level or press A to jump back in.

Noted and changed. Though I am making a pretty comprehensive collectible guide as well as making videos for each levels collectibles. Check out the video for the achievement associated with 10 red skulls to see an example of what I plan to provide.

i tried that and for some reason it seemed different in co-op. i got to the top and had to grapple on the side and could not find a way up. ill try it again but could not figure out what i was doing wrong.

Lara grapples to make a tightrope, not to pull herself up. I got confused at first too since I had played the level a few times as only Lara. You can pull her up if you really want, or just let her fall.

littlejay 08-19-2010 04:12 PM

oooohhhhhhhh thanks :)

Skyldig 08-19-2010 04:51 PM

Never mind, I was mistaken.

littlejay 08-19-2010 06:01 PM

Oh the shame! You are correct. Just spoke to my fiancée to verify and she had actually been playing without me, unlocking Return to sender, so never mind my earlier posts.

Burny Boooom 08-19-2010 06:14 PM

MetalDooley 08-19-2010 06:35 PM

Well I did mention that in the achievement description, that only the person playing as Totec will get the achievement! :) Since it's not technically a cooperative move, he does it by himself. I guess people are reading it wrong.

Tons of people got 200 in this game before it was even released.

Another brilliant guide by Tyger. Starting this game tomorrow and can't wait to use this guide.

Vanquish Xolotl 25 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/f.../site/gp-g.png
Regain the Mirror of Smoke

This achievement will come with the completion of the game after you beat the final boss, Xolotl.

I'm pretty sure this is incorrect or there is more to it than defeating the final boss. I just beat him twice, the second getting the reward for defeating him in under 10 minutes and both times, I received no achievement. I'm starting to think you must defeat him as Totec perhaps?

*EDIT* - Ok, so after beating Xoloti for a fourth time, I pressed start to skip the ending cut scene and then the achievement unlocked. In my previous 3 attempts, I watched the entire ending scene and didn't get the achievement.

Tyger7 08-23-2010 10:35 PM

Did anyone else have problems unlocking the achievement for beating the last level?

Just wanting to verify if you have to skip the cut scene at the end in order to get the achievement, or if people can unlock it if they watch it.

Hawaiian 08-23-2010 11:27 PM

I unlocked the achievement without any problems though I watched the cut scene + credits

Thanks, seems people are having some problems. I hope there's more feedback.
