Death Star II Undefeated Rubber Band Strategy

Easy as Pie. Position a rubber band to keep the X button down. This frees up your thumb to do all the barrell rolling you can want, AND MORE!

Shooting torpedos is also a breeze with the rubber band in place.

The best way I can describe the positioning is a northwest to southeast line, on the right controller grip. The rubber band goes between the battery pack and RT/RB, and then across the X button holding it down, all the way down to the lowest right tip of the controller grip.

The rest of the strategies for Death Star II apply: use the TIE interceptor at all times (except for blowing the core, then use the Millenium Falcon), barrell roll constantly, and don't forget that hearts do not disappear on this level.

I was so happy this worked as well as it did, I messed up a couple of times in the last section because I kept barrell rolling. Then I realized...there are no fighters here, so it's just manuevering.

Good Luck, and I hope this helps you.

if it really works i, shouldn't u take off the rubber band on the very last part cause barrel rolling screws u up and u might smash into a wall.

Holding down the X is to fire, not to constantly roll...

KingPinn187 05-08-2007 02:07 AM

oh crap. excuse me i didnt play this game in a while, cause I'm still thinking its on foot.

Tripl299 05-13-2007 12:49 AM

Thanks for the great advice on this, I didn't have a rubber band, but I used scotch tape over the x button and it did the same thing. Finally, got the last achievement for this game.

dchispirtle 05-17-2007 03:29 PM

I traded this game in a long time ago, but thanks for the tip on beating this last level. If I pick up the game at a later time, this will really help me at least get one of the perfect level achievements that I need.

MnM 06-01-2007 11:28 AM

BIG thx, took me a few tries to beat it, mostly cuz i was being too overly cautious, but this worked like a CHARM. as i flew out of the core seconds away from getting the 1k for beating it all i thought to myself "man i love those forums" :D

Spades12321 06-11-2007 03:48 PM

ive given up trying to do it

BigShowB3 06-11-2007 05:25 PM

I'll have to give this a shot. I got 980 pretty easily, and tried this final mission a couple times before deciding it probably wasn't worth the aggrivation. Not because I don't think I couldn't do it, but mainly because the game has a tendency to freeze up on me with this mission. Having 980 doesn't really bother me that much, but with this strategy making it a bit easier, I'll probably give it a few more shots to finish the game completely.

TuSeMorte 06-12-2007 03:39 PM

Thanks for the tip i will have to try this tonight when i get home.

TG3 HAVOK 06-12-2007 04:10 PM

im hoping this works for me as i too gave up on getting 1000 on this game

shearer06 06-12-2007 04:17 PM

Definately gonna try this, i was fairly happy with 960 in this game but it is certainly an itch that needs scratching !!

Spades12321 06-13-2007 02:42 PM

Still probably wont help me. I still give it a try though cheers.

MonkeyBoy813 06-13-2007 07:01 PM

Thanks for the tip. It took a few tries, but I got 1000/1000 in this game!:)

Spades12321 06-14-2007 04:22 PM

Tried last night still didnt do it, oh well ill try again tonight

TuSeMorte 06-25-2007 06:19 PM

So far this tricked worked great for all the flying mission I have tried.

Tonight i shall see if it helps with the Death Star II using the tie interceptor.

TuSeMorte 06-26-2007 01:21 PM

I tried it last night with the Tie Interceptor and rubber bands. It worked flawlessly. Even flew out of the Death Star with the Tie interceptor.

SHAD0W L1NK 09-19-2007 06:14 AM

I used scotch tape instead of rubber bands lol. Works like a charm. :)

Incorrigible Space Cadet 11-07-2007 05:54 AM

This is an awesome tip, I used it for all the flying missions and got them in one shot. Death Star II took me two tries only because at the very end I got trapped in one of those electric bolts and it wouldnt let go. This should be stickied to the main page with all the people having trouble with this mission.

Andrew x360a 06-11-2008 04:44 AM

Thank you very much for this little gem. I finally finished this game tonight and beat this last level on my third try. I used tape rather than a rubber band, but it was gorgeous nonetheless. This is going down as one of the 1000's that I'm most proud of.

biochem411 06-25-2008 05:15 PM

This worked great! I beat Into the Death Star on my second try. I couldn't find a rubber band  so I just used my thumb.

KrazyKevin1 07-27-2008 01:14 PM

thats awesome... ill try it :) i was wondering, you know in the core of the second death star do you have to actually kill all of those stupid electric things or can you ignore them? ... they piss me off.

Yes you do, you don't get access to shoot the core unless you get rid of the electric thingys.

I haven't tried the rubber band yet but I'm getting desperate and my sister wants her game back! Hopefully it will work for me too!

Thx for the great tips.

Hot Minute 08-03-2008 09:33 PM

god this site is amazing!!!!
after like 87678963736969 tries at this stupid achievement i was about to give up.
but as soon as i saw this stragety i got it on my 2nd try!!!

onemorechanc 08-09-2008 03:30 PM

Rubber bands rock! This and the Death Star strategy ( http://www.xbox360achievements.org/f...ad.php?t=18394 ) were a great help.

KrazyKevin1 08-09-2008 03:49 PM

i managed to do it second try a while ago now... haha didnt use the rubber band just kept tapping A and spinning left right... Tie interceptor is definatly the best one to use.

NEVADA FINFAN 08-18-2008 07:47 AM

Thank u so much I was convinced i would never get my 1,000! Ur strategy made my speakers go Bloop! Achievement Unlocked.

Lenny-t 08-24-2008 11:34 AM

Got it in 1 try last night :D
Thanks for the headsup. Used Tie Intercepter all the way though death star II and Falcon Flight.

J eVeRy DaY 514 08-24-2008 02:28 PM

this was a great help! got it in about 3 tries. make sure you use the tie interceptor, because its way harder with any other ship.

Bellend124 08-25-2008 01:55 AM

I did it second try as well and used the tie interceptor the entire way. very easy and i didn't even have to read the guide.
