Achievement Guide

This is the first guide for me, hopefully you'll find some (at least) of the info helpful. While I didn't have the time make a collection guide, spydermatt did. Thank you for that. The link to it is listed under the Snoop achievemment if you overlooked it in the forum.

* Some people are having trouble viewing the pics for the Bachelor achievement, if you are just let me know and I'll see if I can help you.

+Cheats: None

Intro: In MorphX you will be assuming the role of the main character whom has been infected with an alien virus that slowly turns him into one of them, The Swarm (think District 9 if you will). The game plays and handles pretty good and is actually fun to play. The best thing about the game (for achievements anyway) is the fact that it counts everything and saves after finding items that pertain to collection.

Conclusion: The game is fun and is some what lacking in the story department, but is fun for the short while that it lasts. There are serval achievements that you may miss but you can replay individual levels to get what you have missed out on previously.

Secret Achievements:

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...ts/1343/s1.jpg Energy Blast 25G
The Annihilator has been killed by a grenade explosion

The Annihilator is the boss you fight at the end of level 6, Way to the Base. Just do what you would normally do to take him down. Wait for him to charge you and dodge his attack to expose his weak spot after he hits the wall, then hammer away at him until he is almost dead and then toss your grenade to finish him off.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...ts/1343/s2.jpg Deadly Metal 25G
The Beast has been killed by a grenade explosion

This is just like Energy Blast expect you will be doing it against the final boss of the game the Beast, in level 9 (Final Battle). Same as with fighting the Annihilator, take his life and any you want but just make sure the final blow in done by a grenade. If you run out of grenades don't worry, there's a room behind the two gun turrets with extra ones in it.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...ts/1343/s3.jpg Alien DNA 25G
You disconnected a monster from the Swarm and it killed the Beast

Almost the same as with Energy Blast and Deadly Metal, except you'll be making use of the Isolation ability. Load up the last level again (Final Battle) and weaken the Beast how ever you wish, then wait for one of the other aliens to show up and use the Isolation ability on them to get them to fight you and just let them finish him off.

Collection:

All secret cocoons have been collected

See Snoop

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...3/-EN4ag==.jpg Snoop 25G
All gene cocoons have been collected

Here's the link to the collection guide that spydermatt made: (Awesome job BTW!)

Check it!

The secret cocoons are the ones with the white lights and there are 44 of them total in the game. For the most part they aren’t hidden very well either. Finding these unlocks concept art in the Extras in the Bonuses Materials menu.

The gene cocoons are the ones with the green lights and there are 74 cocoons to find, each containing 2 genes totaling 148. Finding these lets you up-grade your abilities.
Most of these cocoons (secret and gene) are fairly easy to find, as they are mostly out in the open.

I suggest you max out your Alien-view ability since it allows you to see objects of interest in the environment like health kits, ammo, hidden enemies, and cocoons to make it easier. Also be as thorough as possible by exploring everywhere you can go in every level (1-8) with the Alien-view on.

Here’s a few areas easy to overlook:

Awakening: Same area where you get the katana. At the top of the stairs there is a box and to the left you can see a ledge that you can jump to. Jump on the box and jump to the ledge then jump to the other side of the top floor. Follow the pathway down until you see a doorway on your right then go in to get the secret and gene cocoons (there’s one of each in there)

Kurskaya Station: Be sure to check in, around, and on the top of every train car you come across.

Inside the Perimeter: After you go through the poison section turn around and look to the left near the building and the fence, there’s a gene cocoon between them. Also there is another gene cocoon in this area, in the ruined bombed out building that the AA gun is pointing at.

Field Hospital: There is a secret cocoon at the beginning of the level, in the hole underneath the bent metal pieces you have to climb up to progress through the level.

Way to the Base: When you get to the area where you have to come through the downed helicopter, jump on top on the blades and run over to the building on the left of the stage. The blades make an incline you can use to reach the bombed out third floor, there are 2 gene cocoons there.

The Mound: When you’re jumping down the ledges to descend to the area where the boss is, look below the very first ledge you jump to, there’s a secret cocoon there.

Miscellaneous/Missable:

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...3/-aOA+Q==.jpg Collector 15G
All close combat weapons have been collected

All the melee weapons are on the first level, and you’re looking for a wrench, bat, rusted pipe, and a katana. You don’t have to score a kill with these, you just have to have held them at one time or another.

Wrench: Near the beginning of the level when the game tells you about the melee combat and movement. Press the Y to pick it up from in front of the boarded up doorway you have to smash through to continue the game.

Bat: Just after you picked up the wrench you’ll come to a large hole in the wall you have to go through to progress, where the body falls in front of you. Go through the opening and up the hill then turn around and look in the right corner, next to the white door is the bat. Hang 2 right through the doorway on you left to get to it.

Rusted Pipe: Immediately after getting the bat you’ll have to turn a wheel to stop poisonous water form blocking your path. After you’ve done that you’ll see a body at the end of the hall, next to it is the rusted pipe.

Katana: This is located in the are where you have to climb a flight of stairs to knock off a couple of explosive barrels to take down a wall so you can progress. There are 2 areas where you have to go up stairs to the third floor, the katana is in the first area. When you are on the top floor and see the barrels dead straight ahead of you, you should also see a large doorway on you left (a room with the light out). Back behind that is another room, you should be able to see if not it’s on your right. Use the alien vision to see in the dark if you need to. In the back left corner you’ll see a light over another body, beside the body is the katana.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...3/UPufUDs=.jpg Grenadier 15G
You have killed 2 enemies with one grenade

See Senior Grenadier.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...3/UPm+WY4=.jpg Senior Grenadier 25G
You have killed 3 enemies with one grenade

I won’t worry two much about these two, as there are serval areas where you could get both at once. I got Grenadier on level 1 (Awakening) and got Senior Grenadier on level 3 (Kurskaya Station), but you could easily get it on levels 2,4,5,7,and the end of 8. Just wait for them to get close and use the RB button to toss one at’em.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...3/UP9Eup4=.jpg Explosives Expert 15G
You have blown up 20 barrels

Don’t even sweat this one, the barrels are all over every level. You could get this a soon as level 2 (Run from Beast), as they are literally placed everywhere in the level. So long as you aren’t going for the Humanitarian achievement.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...3/+AFrAA==.jpg Humanitarian 25G
You did not kill a single soldier when you were running away from the Beast

Simply run through level 2 (Run from Beast) without killing any human enemies. You can get it on the first time you play the level if you want, just don’t fire you weapon and do not shoot the explosive barrels.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...3/UP6kQg0=.jpg Sportsman 25G
You have jumped 100 times

You will get this through natural progress, but you can get it at the beginning of the first level if you want. Just hit the A button 100 times performing the jump and its yours.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...3/UP49u8I=.jpg Illusionist 15G
You have killed an enemy with shots reflected from the shield

You can get this like I did as soon as you get the ability. You won’t get the shield ability until you reach level 3. I got this on the two gun turrets through the doorway you have to go through after the cut scene after harvesting the Gunner alien. You can also get it by reflecting the shots of the Gunner alien. Just hit the LB button and RT and aim their shots back at them until dead.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...3/UPyFS7g=.jpg Master of Reflection 25G
You have reflected 200 shots with your shield

I won’t recommend you try for this as soon as you get the ability because you will still take damage for using it. Up-grade your Evolution and Shield abilities a couple times and then attempt this, as you’ll have more health, energy, and use less energy using it. You should get this by the end of the game.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...3/UPp-qKg=.jpg Kick-boxer 25G
You have kicked to death 20 kamikaze

To get this you’ll be looking for the little red Detector aliens. Don’t worry too much about this one either, as these annoying little bastards are in every level but the last one. You’ll know’em when you see/hear them, they make a very distinct kinda whining noise. The aren’t hard to miss since they pop up everywhere, their the little red aliens that jump at you and explode when they hit you. Just wait until one is near you and hit th B button to give’em the boot. You should get it in the third level or through natural progression

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...3/UPxQl4w=.jpg Post Graduate 10G
You have achieved maximum level in one of the skills

This one will depend on how well you find the green gene cocoons in each level, as you have to have the gene strains in them to build the pathways. Once you’ve found enough of the genes you’ll have to arrange them so that all the green genes are connected to the red genes. There is not set way to do this, as there are numinous ways to connect them. Just make sure they are all connect to a single strain or all connected individual or a mixture of both ways, doesn’t matter as long as all the green genes are connected to red genes.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...3/UP2wbx8=.jpg Bachelor 50G
You have reached maximum level in all of your skills

Same as with Post Graduate, expect you have to connect all the green genes with the red genes in every one of you seven abilities. You WILL have to collect every last one of the gene strains from levels 1 through 8 in order to do this and be pretty creative when connecting them. Remember, all green and red genes have to be connected in your Energy Shield, Evolution, Rage, Insolation, Symbiosis, Alien View, and Transformation abilities to get credit for this one.

These pics and all the credit for doing them belongs to orias15:

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...3/UPsGqfQ=.jpg Immortal 50G
You have completed all levels without a single death

Not as hard as it sounds. Take your time and max out your Evolution, Symbiosis, and Transformation abilities as soon as you can to make your life easier. I can’t stress this enough, do not get backed into a corner or surrounded by 3 or more enemies at once, you will die quick even with your abilities maxed out. Beware, beware, beware of the Terminators, they will make short work of you. Up-grading Rage will also help you out, since using it refills your health some each time you score a hit on an enemy. DO NOT try using the Rage ability on the Terminators, they will just knock you away every time you try. Also watch out for the Spargs, they will mess you up pretty quick as well. Use your Alien-view to be able to see them and do not get cornered by two or more of them, as you won't last long.

You have killed 100 enemies with distant combat weapons

You have to score killed with projectile based weaponry, this would include the AK47, shotgun, energy cannon (later in game), and the mounted AA guns you can use. You will mostly likely get this by beginning/middle of level three.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...3/UPs1kOg=.jpg Prybar Master 25G
You have killed 100 enemies with close combat weapons

I think you can only get this by using either the wrench, bat, rusted pipe, or katana. I’m not sure if the spike that you get on your right hand at the beginning of level 3 counts or not. If you miss this you can replay the first 2 levels until you have it. Just have one of the weapons handy and hit the X button until your opponent is dead and repeat 99 more times.

*Edit - melee kills after level 3 count towards this achievement. - Thanks to TheFalcon for that.

You have killed 500 enemies

Don’t sweat these achievements at all, the game throws a lot of enemies at you so you’ll easily get it with little to no grinding at all. Also the game counts everything you do. So, if you go on an epic 300 enemy streak and die, the game counts every kill you made during it. You can replay any level to grind on these achievements if you need to.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...3/UPrmUWc=.jpg Anonymous Alcoholic 25G
You have broken 50 bottles

The description of this achievement should really be changed to shoot 50 bottles, as it is hard to break the bottles using the melee button. You’re looking for what I assume are green beer bottles that are placed throughout levels 1 through 8. They are placed in every level so don’t worry about getting it, it unlocked for me in level 4. Once you’ve find’em either shoot them or use the melee button to break them. You can replay levels if you need to grind on it.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...3/UP-dQ1E=.jpg Biologist 20G
You have collected gene material of every alien type

In order to get this one you’ll have to kill a harvest each of the alien types you can harvest. These are the ones you have to harvest; Explorer, Persecutor, Gunner, Sparg, Terminator, and Surgeon (story related). Just down one of every type and press the Y button to harvest their genetic material. You should get this in level 5.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...3/UP6XexE=.jpg Vivisectionist 25G
You have dealt fatality to 10 aliens

See Fatalist

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...3/UP93g4I=.jpg Falatist 50G
You have dealt fatality to 25 aliens

This is easier than it sounds, you have to get a enemy to a near death state and then when you’re near that weakened you’ll about to hit th Y button to perform the fatality. See to get against the Persecutor by backing away from them and firing you energy cannon or AK until the prompt tells you can perform the fatality. You can also get this against Spargs and Terminators, and I think this are the only 3 types of enemies you can do this too. Again you can replay levels if necessary to get this.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...3/UPrVaHs=.jpg Ripper 25G
You have killed the Terminator with a grenade

Easier than it sounds, and you won’t be able to get this until level 5. Just use your energy cannon or other grenades to weaken him and wait for him to go to he’s knees, and when he does this instead of performing the fatality toss a grenade at him and the achievement is yours.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...3/UP1lsys=.jpg Butcher 25G
You have killed 5 enemies in one ‘rage’ spell

See Blood Bath

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...3/UP5CpyU=.jpg Blood Bath 50G
You have killed 8 enemies in one ‘rage’ spell

You won’t get the Rage ability until the third level. I recommend you wait until the end of level 8 and you can get both at once. You’ll need to have both you Evolution and Rage abilities near being maxed out so you have more health and consume less energy. You might be able to get them before this if you like, there’s just not usually that many enemies away in the out level that I tried it on. Butcher I know you could get as early as level 4 but Blood Bath you will more than likely not be able to get until the end of level 8.

The place I talking about is at the very end of the level 8 (The Base). There will be specimen containers with Explorer aliens in them (4 of them) and 4 gun turrets on the area you have to hit the switch in order to finish the level. When you hit the switch the level won’t end until you have killed all the enemies that come out, which there is about 10 of them. Don’t turn on any of the 4 gun turrets and let the Spargs gather around you and then locate the 3 Gunner aliens and head then making sure the Spargs follow you. Once they’re all around you activate the Rage ability by pressing the LB button then the Y and tear them to bits.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...3/UPjHWNI=.jpg Suicide 25G
The Beast has been killed by its own shot, reflected from the shield

This is talking about the boss fight at the end of the game, level Final Battle. This is pretty easy actually. Now, in order to pull this off you’ll have to have your Evolution, Symbiosis, and Energy abilities maxed out. Doing this will increase the amount of energy and health you have and increase the amount of health and energy you get from the cocoons, while decreasing the amount of energy you use and damage taken by using the Energy Shield. Just stay at the spot where the game spawns you since this will force him to shoot his energy blast at you. Stay there and reflect his shots and refill your health and energy as needed until his bites the dust.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...3/UPwcsnc=.jpg Cat’s Eye 20G
You have spent 15 minutes in Alien-view mode

You get this ability in the first level and can start going for it there, but it consumes energy pretty quick until you’ve up-graded it. I suggest you level it up all the way first, once you do this it won’t use up any energy at all and you can just turn it on by hit the LB button then the A and wait for it to unlock. Even if you don’t do this you should get it through natural progress.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...3/UP+iX7Y=.jpg Overmind 25G
You have taken 30 aliens under control

You won’t be able to do this until nearly the very of end the game, because you don’t get the ability to do this until level 8 (The Base). You’ll be using the Isolation ability to get this one, and it consumes massive amounts of energy, unless you max it out. Have it, the Evolution, and Symbiosis abilities maxed out as well to get it quicker. Just refilled your energy regularly then get close to an alien then hit the LB and then the B button to use it. Repeat 29 more times to unlock it.

dmapr 10-26-2010 09:12 PM

Very good guide!

A note on the Blood Bath achievement Blood Bath was very easy for me to get (and I didn't even have rage at max) in the level where you use the AA gun to repel a bunch of persecutors and gunners (right after crossing a poison field, I think it's Inside the Perimeter). Once you mount the gun they start coming out, get off the gun and rage-mow them down. I've always had much harder time with Spargs, even with the fully upgraded rage.

Epilogue of Euphoria 10-27-2010 04:19 PM

Thanks. I believe the place your talking about is in level 4, I was too afraid to try since it I going for the Immortal achievement on the first run. Thanks for the tip also.

The checkpoint is right after you cross the poison fog. I minced the persecutors for the achievement and re-started the checkpoint right away I figured the gun was there for a reason and I'd be overwhelmed without it. You can restart checkpoints without penalty did it quite a few times on the Mound for the Immortal. I had to replay this level anyway because I missed that gene cocoon behind the poison fog on the first run.

Mind if I do any editing/tweaking to your guide? Such as add pictures/videos and maybe point out some really good spots to get certain things?

Just want to chime in and say that the claws you get on level 3 count towards the 100 close combat kills needed for Prybar Master. I got the achievement after slashing apart a sparg on level 5.

Thanks for the heads up, I was kinda iffy on that one. The achievement popped for me when I replayed the second level before finishing the game.
