Rent it or buy it?

I posted the following in another thread, but thought it should be posted under a better heading - since my question isn't a hate issue (besides... that leads to the dark side - right?)!

I just bought this game (brand new) for 20 bucks. I'm not a keeper of games that are single-player-ONLY, and no replay value (unlike Oblivion, for example).

Would I be better-off returning this game (I haven't opened it yet - I'm playing another game I got just before it) and renting it (or buying it used from Game Stop - which "can" be a 7-day rental - and get a refund)?

Honestly, I would probably play the first ST:TFU game (again) - if I still had it, but I only rented that when it came out and hammered-out the achievements for it and the first DLC (then I bought it used from Game Stop a year or so later, played the Tatooine DLC, and got a refund).

If the game sucks so bad that it doesn't merit owning, I'll return it and get it used. I'd rather give Lucas my money for Star Wars on Blu-Ray (which is coming this September, I might add)... than a game which didn't have any "force" unleashed in it! :D

I would honestly get the used version, do as much as possible in a week span and give it back. I've played the first one and seen gameplay of the whole second game and the single player is fairly simple and there is so much you can only replay in it so much till the point where it gets boring.

I would buy it - this jsut like the 1st one is a keeper that you can always load back up after beating it and enjoy going through the game again

chetwaters 07-18-2011 06:14 AM

even if you buy it you will be done in less than 7 days

RwHo 07-18-2011 06:22 AM

Something about Star Wars games, I don't ever buy them. I would get it used, use your week span they give you incase you "don't like it" then give it back and get something better.

BluWolve 07-18-2011 06:34 AM

I bought it, only because it was the collectors edition. Otherwise I would advise renting it. There is no multiplayer, little to no replay value and it can be finished in less than a week. Rent it, if you find you really like it you can always buy it later on down the track.

I did the same thing...bought the collector's edition for $20, played it for 3 days...then resold on eBay for $30.

Unless you are a HUGE star wars fan, this is a rent.

In retrospect, I would have rented it. Only took me ~6 hours to beat. Not really worth the purchase.

Verdinial 07-28-2011 02:20 AM

I heard it only lasts around 6 hours, I'll be renting it sooner or later.

DarthViscer 07-28-2011 02:32 PM

I personally played the first game at least ten times through, leveled up over 100 times in that. I intend to do the same with this game, just purchased the Collector's edition for $20 on eBay and I cannot wait to play it. Just with all the costumes and what not I feel as though they have great replay value for people that actually enjoy alternate costumes and other choices in games. But I'm also the guy that beat Darth Vader over and over again using almost every single costume (in TFU) just to see the look of it

AaronSunderland 07-28-2011 02:35 PM

I would say RENT! I didn't enjoy it as much as I did the first one.

I would easily buy it because I played the demo at Wal-Mart and loved it

JAW LV 08-09-2011 03:48 PM

I'd definately suggest this game as a rental. It's a short play and holds very little replay value. I just got this yesterday in the mail from Blockbuster, I've only played the game for about 3 hours now but I'm already almost done with the first playthrough of the story line and have more then half of the achievements unlocked.

I'm sure I'll slow down as I start the challenges, but at this point I'm thinking this game should be finished in 10-12 hrs tops.

phot0Harv 08-09-2011 05:32 PM

well, as I can see, you're a SW fan.. you should keep it.. IMO as another SW fan

corymonster1 08-09-2011 05:38 PM

Well for me during the summer I would rent the game on the fact that I can play all day. However during school I would buy it cause I don't get to play as much.

Badd Tuna 08-12-2011 11:20 PM

The gameplay is really short, and the plot is pretty boring, until the very end. N doubt, rent!

Matt36 08-25-2011 12:44 PM

Rent. Definitely. Can be completed in 6 hours, trials aren't difficult, nothing much to collect. Good game but way to short.

Muppet May Cry 08-25-2011 06:51 PM

Rent, took me 5-6 hours for a playthrough and isn't very difficult.

It's really fun though and on unleashed can be quit frustrating ( not as much as FU1)

macgyver893 08-30-2011 12:16 AM

as soon as I finish the first one I will buy the second one. I just need to for my game collection. If I own the first game in a series, I most likely will buy the second one too.

LeopoldX92 08-30-2011 06:25 PM

rent it, its not that long of a game and doesn't have a lot of reply value.

Isanox 09-17-2011 01:37 AM

Does it have a insane boss fight like in TFU 1 on the hardest mode?

VariousWaves 09-17-2011 02:19 AM

isnt the game really short? i would probably get the game from my neighbor and give it back to him after hes done with dinner

SilentReaper 09-18-2011 06:16 PM

SHOULD HAVE RENTED THE DAME THING!! 5-6HRS OF GAME PLAY? COME ON NOW!!!! NEXT TIME I WILL HAVE TO READ THREADS ON THIS SITE..!! FAIL!! DECENT GAME THOUGH...

StayonTarget 09-20-2011 03:34 AM

You can buy it new for 20. Used for like 10. Or rent it for around 10 bucks (for 3 - 5 days). I'd buy a used copy. :p You won't feel rushed.

chrisk62 09-28-2011 08:47 PM

My advice would be to buy a used copy, get all achievements within a week easily then sell for same price you bought it for. It's a waste of money buying it new as you will only get about a week worth of entertainment out of the game. It's definetely not as good as the first TFU :(.

jeaton85 01-21-2012 09:34 PM

Sad Face

This game disappoints. Rent!

LickableLemons7 01-23-2012 10:15 AM

I'd rent it. Decent game, but very little replay value.

antwon707 01-23-2012 02:34 PM

pissed me off.

That is one of the most annoyingly short games I've ever played. Everything in the game was on point and perfect as far as I was concerned. Just couldn't stand the fact that I beat in in like a day.

Loved makin vader my bitch, tho...

catowl 07-18-2012 02:33 AM

I would rent this i did and completed it in under 5 days

IthepiratekingI 09-17-2012 06:15 AM

rent not worth buying.
