"Official" Bitching Thread

Well, it was to be somewhat expected. I was watching a livestream of someone playing and what looked like the importing of the ME2 save file corrupt. He said that he spent over 70 hours playing ME2 and the save won't even work with ME2.

I was thinking of getting ME2 and having a quick playthrough on the 360, but seeing this little hickup, it's turned me off the idea.

Edit.
Please, do not take my post as some sort of confirmation that all saves are corrupt/will be corrupt. This was the first I've seen/heard of such a thing and it's a mere coincidence.

i have a few saves but there is only one i truely want to use and i will be very annoyed i if ic an not use my desired save. watch first 3 vids online of it onto second mission still not seen anywhere once you import the character to change like your class if you grow tired of your old one.

Whats this about an ME2 save file being corrupt? I've heard something the other day about ME3 and ME2 save files being corrupted but I don't know all the details.

Can someone fill me in?

ME3 can't read cloud-stored savefiles.
Some balls of steele guys out there, exported the files to the xbox Gold cloud service before formatting their consoles' hdd. Now they have useless cloud files that can't be read.

afaik

Tsuarn 03-04-2012 04:45 PM

so its only with saves stored on the cloud?

if so im lucky i made a back up of my saves :S

13ip0lar 03-04-2012 06:10 PM

In the end there have been two fixes for the situation. The only one I recall off the top of my head is the easy one, which is to move the save back to your HD. I even loaded my 2010 save from ME2 up just to make sure there is nothing wrong. I figure if it loads in ME2 fine, it shouldn't have an issue when I import it.

ajennice 03-04-2012 07:51 PM

so far my only complaint is the armor/weapon selection/customizing....On disk 2 and it's so far pretty good.

i have to ask without replying with spoilers is the disk swap in a reasonable place?.

Rivercurse 03-04-2012 09:23 PM

From what I've read the citadel location is on both discs, but some citadel sidequests are on disc 1, and others are on disc 2..

assuming this we are talking about to seperate visits there cause otherwise that could get real annoying. (one near the start and one 3/4's through)

When I heard Clint Mansell was doing the soundtrack, I figured it had the potential to be one of the best scores to come out this year (game or film). So I was very disappointed when I heard he was sharing composing duties with a bunch of other guys.

Now that the soundtrack's out, it downright sucks that Mansell only has two tracks on there. He must've only been hired to write a main theme and that's it. Having not played the game yet, maybe there's more of his work in there, but I kinda doubt it.

And here I was hoping for something to finally rival the awesome work Mansell did in "The Fountain." Oh well.

I am sorry if I sound slow but what on earth is Cloud? I have heard people complaining about it, I just have my save on my xbox 360 hard drive ready to import when I get the game, I have no idea what this Cloud storage thing is?

Instead of moving your saved game physically (USB, console, HDD) you store it on the Xbox LIVE server.

More info here - cloud storage

Prime-Directive 03-05-2012 11:39 AM

Ok I understand now, thanks, has this cloud storage system problem prevented everyone from importing there MA2 files that use it or is it random so far?

from what i gathered it was cloud saves of me2, this might be cause the game was majorly developed before this system was put into place so it does not register the save once it is on the cloud servers.

this is all just my guess ofc.

clairefun 03-05-2012 12:03 PM

Mine's the normal 'why can't the uk have it the same time as you?!' moan. I'll save judgement on the rest - though having my me1 & 2 saves on my hdd might be helping me there...

Direkin 03-05-2012 07:04 PM

I'm still fascinated that there's a bitching thread even before the game is out...

sure a good portion of people in us now have it before the release date, but the complaining has been going on way longer on the offical forums be thankful this is minor compared to that.

Ill009 03-06-2012 02:15 PM

Here's a new gripe. I don't like switching discs between the main storyline and N7 side missions.

Here is a gripe. Idiots playing Mass Effect. All idiots should be banned from Mass Effect and anything Mass Effect related.

Seriously though, EVERYONE knew that there would be some disc swapping involved in the 360 version.

Your right to complain about any and all disc swapping was null and void the moment you chose to buy the 360 version instead of the PS3 version.

Thank you.
Have a nice day. :D

Auburok 03-06-2012 03:25 PM

My main complaint is Amazon is taking so damned long. Glad I bitched ahead of time, though; I would have been waiting until the 14th.

Your right to complain about people complaining about the 360's disc swaps was null and void the moment you entered a 360 specific forum. Ironic, considering your initial statement about idiots.

Not everyone buys a PS3 for Uncharted. :p

Fail...

I'm customizing my imported character right now and I have to say, the details, graphics & options in ME2 looks way better as in ME3. What a crap...

When I played the demo I thought the graphics didn't look as good as they could. I even posted on this forum about it. I figured that it might just be a demo thing, as it often is, and it would be better in the retail game.

Now honestly I have to say that I have heard a lot of people mention the same thing about the graphics in the retail release and I am really wondering whats going on.

Graphics are not the most important thing in a game to me, story is and ME has loads of it and I am sure I won't be dissapointed but if the graphic thing is true I have to ask "What the heck is bioware doing?".

True true. I mean it's not all about graphics but giving the option to customize your very own character and also importing it to the next game. There should be no space of difference, only for improvement.

Speaking of importing your character im hearing that people are having issues with it, with the importer requiring some people to change their appearence. I read this is mostly affecting ME > ME2 > ME3 imports. I'm hoping it doesnt happen to me because I have 3 different Sheps waiting for me to play.

Also I heard that some options, like hairstyles, were removed from ME3, which could possibly be a reason for the issue listed above.
