Welcome
Welcome to Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. This heavily story-driven adventure game will have you playing as two young brothers on a quest which require the pair to work together in order to survive and succeed in their actions. The game is stunning with some amazingly haunting and emotional moments which will take your breath away with the level the game reaches with it's beautiful environments and character interactions.

Story
All 12 achievements are for performing various actions throughout the game. Although all of these actions can be easily missed, Chapter Select is available so you can go back and get anything you may have missed in your original playthrough. The only achievement that may cause some confusion for some players is Love Birds, see achievement for more details.

Chapters
You will unlock Take a Break in the Prologue for 20G. Wishing Well, Bunny Buddies & Black Sheep are unlocked during Chapter 1 for 80G. You will unlock Falling Star in Chapter 3 for 20G. A Sad Tune, Windpipe & Love Birds are unlocked during Chapter 4 for 120G. You will unlock Call of the Giants in Chapter 5 for 40G. Finally, Behind the Curtain, Turtle Soup & Whale Song are unlocked during Chapter 6 for 120G. There are no achievements tied to Chapter 7 or the Epilogue.

Mop Up/Conclusion
After finishing the game, you will have unlocked every achievement in the game by following this guide but by any chance you did miss anything, simply replay your level by going into Chapter Select. This also refers to the Love Birds achievement as long as you quit after the save icon appears, you can continue to the next section.

Younger brother move - :rs: Younger brother interact - :rtbut:

------------------------------------------------------------------

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...7/+Gqueg==.jpg Take a Break - 20:gsicon:
You took a break from adventuring.

This is unlocked at the very start of the game during the Prologue. You will start by pushing a cart with a man on it, keep going until you get to platform where you have to pull a lever to continue. Before proceeding, go to your right down the path which leads to a beach. There will be a pile of rocks you must interact with. (RT or LT - whichever brother you want.) Achievement will unlock once you start chucking the rocks in the ocean.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...7/+YpW6Q==.jpg Wishing Well - 20:gsicon:
You threw someone's ball down a well… Shame on you.

This is unlocked at the very start of Chapter 1. Once you start, walk down the path a little and you will see a girl playing with a ball on the right. Steal the ball by interacting with it as the younger brother then look behind and you'll see a well on the left. Throw the ball in the well.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...7/-chFgw==.jpg Bunny Buddies - 20:gsicon:
You made the bunnies play nice.

During Chapter 1, once you have passed the field with the dog chasing you and climbed up the vines, keep following the path until you see some rabbits jumping about in front of you on the path below. Go to them and pick up the white rabbit as the young brother and drop it on the circular fireplace in the middle to make the rabbit black.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...7/-Ci9EA==.jpg Black Sheep - 40:gsicon:
Every family's got one.

This is unlocked in the same area as Bunny Buddies, except instead of going down to the rabbits, you'll see that to progress through the level you have to go to the right and lower the bridge to proceed. Across the bridge are some sheep. Pick one up as the older brother while the younger brother holds the bridge on the treadmill and bring the sheep back to where the rabbits are. Now drop it on the same circular fireplace in the middle to make the sheep black.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...7/+YIdSw==.jpg Falling Star - 20:gsicon:
Make a wish.

This is unlocked at the beginning of Chapter 3. After you make your way through the woods with the wolves trying to attack you, you will come to a cemetery. Instead of making your way down to the left, turn right and walk up where you will see a statue. Interact with the statue with either brother and witness a shooting star.

Note: The achievement only seems to unlock for some people if you interact with the Statue with both brothers.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...7/-+lMNg==.jpg A Sad Tune - 20:gsicon:
You made someone feel better.

This is unlocked at the beginning of Chapter 4. Climb the rocks at the start and as you walk ahead you will notice a man trying to hang himself off a tree on the right path. Stop the suicide by having the big brother grab the mans legs and little brother climb the tree to cut off the rope. Then go to the back of the tree, drop down and move along the wall where you must pick up the little music box. Go back to the man and drop the box near him.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...7/-S6gqw==.jpg Windpipe - 40:gsicon:
You made the inventor dance.

During Chapter 4, once you reach the professor/inventor from the mountain goats, make your way up from the left onto the stairs, use the cog, proceed and then instead of following the professor to his desk, go up the stairs to the musical structure. Now use the younger brother to continuously rotate the outside lever while the older brother pushes the inside lever to the 5th pipe down which will play music.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...7/-gm0pQ==.jpg Love Birds - 60:gsicon:
You re-united the two love birds.

This is a two part achievement covering Chapter 1 & 4. On Chapter 1, when you arrive to an area with the rabbits & sheep and before going across the platform, you will see a caged bird near the treadmill. Interact with the cage to free the bird.

The second part of the achievement takes place in Chapter 4, just after you unlocking the Windpipe achievement you will make your way down the stairs past the professor. On the way you will see a telescope, interact with it as either brother and look near the bottom right where you'll notice the same bird sitting on a tree stem branch. Zoom in with :ls: for the achievement to unlock.

Note: If you forget to free the bird in Chapter 1 and finished the game, simply select Chapter 1 from the menu and free the bird but continue playing until the save icon appears. Now quit to the menu and select Chapter 4 and play until you telescope the bird which should unlock the achievement.

If you freed the bird in Chapter 1 but forgot to telescope it in Chapter 4 and finished the game, simply select Chapter 4 directly and play until you telescope the bird which will unlock the achievement.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...7/-M5YOA==.jpg Call of the Giants - 40:gsicon:
You sounded a giant horn.

During Chapter 5 in the valley, once you drop the axe to clear a path to proceed, you'll have to balance across a log near the giant crossbow to get to the other side. Instead of going to the left, take the path to the right and you'll see a giant horn. Blow the horn with the older brother.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...7/-+EHlA==.jpg Behind the Curtain - 40:gsicon:
You found a secret.

This is unlocked at the very start of Chapter 6. As you move down the river and go down the right bend you'll see a blood filled waterfall on the right. Row though the waterfall to witness the ceremony.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...7/-cAOIQ==.jpg Turtle Soup - 60:gsicon:
You helped the turtles to the sea.

During Chapter 6, once you have left the boat and make your way down the path a little you will notice a large turtle. From the turtle, go to the path on the right and you will see 3 baby turtles in the area, once of which is on the platform above where you need to push the younger brother up there to slide the turtle down. Then interact with the all three of the turtles to push them down the slide right at the back end of that area you're in.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/i...7/-CD2sg==.jpg Whale Song - 20:gsicon:
You practised singing.

This is unlocked shortly after Turtle Soup. Once you climb up and start following the woman, she will stop but you must keep running to the left past all the frozen people until you reach a bench. Have both brothers sit on the bench and enjoy the final moment.

Love birds can't be gain from chapter select if you didn't free the bird in your play through.

Thanks for this, didn't realise at first. I think as long as you free the bird on chapter 1 it doesn't matter if you miss spotting it on chapter 4 as you can just do that later through chapter select.

Achievements should be listed in the order of chapter and in the order they are unlocked, you have one for falling star in ch3 last at the moment.

Yeah I was going to re-arrange them after the guide is finished. I've just copied the order it's listed on the main site for the time being.

Call of Giants

Chapter 5
You will reach an area with a fork crossing with a crossbow above you, take right road and jump the gap, there you will see a giant horn. Use the older brother to blow it and you will get the achievement

Behind the Curtain

Chapter 6
After you rescue the woman from being sacrificed, follow her and she will lead you to a boat. Interact with boat using both brothers and head down the river. Follow the river until you see a waterfall of blood and turn left between the pillars and you find a hidden area there. Achievement will unlock as you watch the cutscene.

Turtle Soup

Chapter 6

After " Behind the Curtain". When you passed the river and reached shore, follow the path until you spot a huge turtle. Take right a you find the small turtles there. Use the brother to carry them to the slide on the right bottom area. There are 3 turtles that need to be helped after The achievement should pop after you help them all. Note: the younger brother might not interact with the turtles right away, adjust his position if it didn't work, restart from previous checkpoint to fix it

Whale Song

Chapter 6

After "Turtle Soup". After rescuing the turtles, head to the other path and climb the hill, follow the path until you reach to the point where you need to chop the tree down to continue your route. Head up the slope where you see a tree with a saw. Here you need to head north over a ledge and you will find a bench. Interact with the bench and view the small cutscene. Achievement should unlock.
Note : I interacted with both brothers

I should have added I wasn't trying to be negative, it may have come across that way sorry, was just trying to be constructive :)

Thanks for these. Just going to earn the achievements myself first before I put some descriptions down. :)

I've already mentioned this. As long as you free the bird in your playthrough but forgot in chapter 4, you can still chapter select it afterwards. What you can't do is chapter select 1 to free the bird then chapter select 4 to telescope it if you forgot to do both things before.

DJWonderbraDJ 08-13-2013 08:30 AM

You're wrong. I didnt free the bird in chapter one. Finished the game. I then selected chapter one again , freed the bird (it auto saves) then selected ch. 4 and he was there through the telescope.

So essentially they are no missables.

Oh I see you did chapter select both chapters then, in which case I misunderstood my bad. I'll edit the guide.

Hold on for a sec. My first playthrough I freed the bird in Chapter 1 but didn't look at the bird in Chapter 4. After I beat the game I reloaded Chapter 1 for other achievements and still freed the bird. I loaded Chapter 4 and looked through the telescope but never got a cutscene. I zoomed in and out several times and even tried both brothers. I had to reload Chapter 1 and then play through until I saw the birds through the telescope in Chapter 4.

Maybe if I had loaded Chapter 4 first I would've gotten it? I don't know, but I know loading Chapter 1 and then 4 didn't work for me.

Seeing as you freed it in your initial playthrough you probably should have just selected chapter 4 after the game ended. I'll note all these outcomes in the guide. Did you see the autosave sign after freeing the bird in chapter 1?

Actually I don't think I did. I forgot to put the sheep in the ashes the first time so that's as far as I got (which is right next to the bird). However I did look at the bird through the telescope and got to a save point and then reloaded chapter 1 and still didn't get the achievement after freeing the bird again. So from there I just continued playing until chapter 4.

Barad 08-14-2013 01:18 PM

I've listed the 2 possible outcomes as far as I can figure out, let me know if anything still looks incorrect.

Actually every achievement is missible since you can complete the whole game and still have 0gs =P

Looks really good man! The only thing I can think to add would be a Conclusion to the Roadmap. Otherwise well done!

They really aren't that hard to find. Given the fact that it's a short game, it helped me enjoy the game a little longer.

Ratpoizen 08-16-2013 03:22 PM

Great guide, must've took some time to work out some of these, especially since the achievement descriptions are somewhat ambiguous. Just a pity theres no achievement for completing the game. Bit lame you can get the 400g without even having to do chapter 7 or the epilogue.

MD Payne 08-19-2013 12:46 PM

Very nice guide for a fun game!

Asturgis 08-21-2013 05:06 PM

Hey BAR4D :) Nice and early work, bro. There is just a typo in your last paragraph, it's "woman" and not "women". Only thing I wouldn't put is "The game is stunning with some amazingly haunting and emotional moments which will take your breath away". It's a Roadmap, not a review, and even if it's pretty and sad-ish, I really doubt it will "haunt" anyone lol

Last thing, your signature is way too long according to the forum rules. You should know that bro :) Thanks again and see you later.

Thanks for noticing the type, corrected. As for the intro, I was told to beef up the roadmap a little as it was looking too empty, couldn't think of anything to add but a small intro about the game. If a staff member doesn't find it appropriate when processing time comes, I'll remove it. :)

Subs are allowed 600x400 sigs, mine is 571x360. Yours however is 610x210, slightly longer than what is allowed for a sub! ;)

HoliestEd 09-22-2013 08:53 PM

Great game and great guide thank you!

Arsenic 17 10-01-2013 09:05 PM

Thanks for the guide! Way too many typos for how few achievements there are. More time proofreading and less time playing GTA? :P

Take a Break Achievement: ...where you have to pull a level lever to continue.

Falling Star Achievement: ...Statue statue. Interact with the statue...

A Sad Tune Achievement: move alone along the wall where you mist must pick up the little music box...

Love Birds Achievement: ...same bird sitting on a tree stem branch. Zoom...

Call of the Giants Achievement: ...to get to the other side. Instead of going u the left towards the left to the left , take the path to the right and you'll see...

Cheers. Also got the 400G in about 2.5 hours. 5 hours might be too long?
