Single Player Vs Online

Now that both single player and online has been out for quite some time, which one do you think is better? I prefer single player myself.

Emperor 95 12-20-2013 09:04 PM

Single Player. Once you've got 100% though, there is nothing to go back to.

Dirty130 12-20-2013 09:20 PM

Hmmm..

Great single player, but once at 100% not really much more can be done.

Multiplayer can be fun, but the developers approached it from the wrong angle to begin with. Full price retail game where it has a free to play microtransaction angle. WTF?

Still, I think for replayability and just plain fun with friends, I'll vote MP. There is (hopefully) a lot of content still coming.

FeatherbottomMR 12-21-2013 03:48 AM

Both are good… But MP has more replay value

Puppys 12-21-2013 06:33 AM

Single player by far. The online was good but didn't hold up to my expectations I guess.

iBuzz7S 12-21-2013 06:50 AM

The online is still a mess. So many modded games going around, it's not even worth trying.

Started a random match and it was modded. I got punished for it, even though I didn't get an invite and join the match knowing who it was from.

Might play through the SP again. Even that is boring, but at least it's something.

HabsCen10ial 12-21-2013 08:08 PM

As long as my buddy is playing this then I enjoy online better.

There is a ton of games to enjoy and I'm a level 180 or something like that and I haven't been in a modded game yet.

jamesmccabe903 12-21-2013 11:01 PM

i started a new single player game today because im sick of the hackers online you cant even play at all

Dz06lt 12-22-2013 02:32 AM

Single player as GTA is intended to be

Zombymario 12-22-2013 10:04 AM

Singleplayer, because Trevor is just awsome. But I have to admit, just like in GTA IV, there is not much to do after you have 100% completion. But it is still nice to fly arround in LS/BC and to see the nice sunrise. :)

Can't wait for story DLC and hope that we can use the casino and maybe have a GTA SA-style heist on the casino.

Barad 12-22-2013 11:49 PM

I'm going to say Online. After I finished the story, I couldn't really be bothered to do much more of activities available except for rampages and a few hobbies etc. I will definitely finish everything off in the SP eventually, but the Online is pretty much endless havoc. Even though it was a launch failure, and with the current modders and all..the game can still be immensely enjoyable.

Once it gets cleaned up it and heists are added it will get much better!

Have faith. She's right. :p

Balloonhead 12-24-2013 03:13 PM

Single player for sure. I've only played Online for about 12 hours and 9 of those were just a very meh experience. However, I've obtained 100% in single player about 2 weeks ago and there's not much to do. But the story for it made GTA V my GotY because it was SOOO fun!

Crispycjc666 12-24-2013 04:53 PM

Single player for sure. More mission variety, tons of stuff to do. Online seems to be to repetitive, plus there are a ton of d-bags playing online. Haven't had any problems with modded games (yet), but I have read that it is ruining the experience for a lot of people. But, I suppose you get that with any online game.

JORDAN K 95 12-24-2013 08:12 PM

single player.

online is just too shit. gta4 online was better, i ddont know why they diddnt just keep that but for gta5

I don't know about that, GTA online was so bad I didn't even stick around for most of the achievements, and I'm a crazy completionist sometimes.

ginge88isfun 12-26-2013 05:56 PM

Single Player

Online is a joke.

There are the 4 ufo's and the Mt. Chiliad conspiracy. There has to be a way to unlock the jetpack. Or at least FIND it. Almost 1000 pages on GTAForums and its still going strong.

You're asking me to place my faith in R*. Really? I'm looking at RDR and GTA4, both modder's paradise and I'm finding it to be a hard time.

Since you both have confidence in R* fixing what is getting so out of hand. I'll join your bandwagon. End of February I'll give them. Heists better be in by then and 80%+ of current known bugs, glitches and exploits have to be removed. They would also have to be on top of updated ISO mods, hacked DNS issues and modded lobbies. Pull all that off and I'll tip my hat and show them some respect. For now it's hard for me to do that. Harsh? Maybe. We're talking about a game that made more money than.. well anything.

Hmmm.. Personally I don't think there is anymore to the alien thing (unless it gets patched in/DLC) or a useable jetpack. If I'm wrong, that is a good thing though!

Its a nice diversion to see if there actually is anything more to the mural. A lot of folks have gotten off on wild tangents but the mural does look like some sort of clue...

I'm not really 100% certain, my post was just being hopeful. Also, it has gone too long without someone spilling the secret, so I agree that there can't be anything more to the alien conspiracy unless it gets DLC added in.

I know for a fact the shitfest in online will NOT be fixed by February though. :p

BiggD 12-29-2013 09:30 PM

Online is a shit fucking mess.

Single Player is pretty much unanimous here.

With people being gifted 50million dollars, and other players are LITERALLY invincible, the Online is a fucking joke. It'll never be fixed. Look at all their other games -> Max Payne 3, GTA IV, and RDR.

---

And what's this jetpack, UFO talk? Someone fill me in with facts.

Snoop QC 12-29-2013 10:49 PM

I did buy this game for the single player first, remembering the online of GTA 4 which I didn't like much. But the online of GTA 5 is very good in my opinion and I like it so this is why I think a third option of liking both modes would have been good.

PS. If the online could be fixed it would be better...

Galarzaa90 12-29-2013 11:11 PM

Single Player is better obviously, because it has a lot more of content, and the missions are great, but after you finish the mission's and everything else, there's not much to do.

Multiplayer on the other hand, has less activities to do, but because you are playing with other people, the games are always different, the competition makes it fun, the rivalries, friendships, etc.

0913 12-30-2013 12:36 AM

Single player; I replay heists for hours at a time. The jewelry store, the Peleto score and the big score. That's all I need.

GAMERG0D 12-30-2013 08:48 AM

R* has never had a fantastic online experience in their games. GTA Online continues this trend. It has been over a week since the modding has occurred and they have not fixed the problem. I have 100% in the singleplayer and vastly prefer it to Online.

There's a rumor with the Mt. Chilliad painting that you can obtain a jetpack in the game. There are also (four?) UFOs in the game and obviously a lot of people are thinking it has something to do with it because they don't serve much other purpose.

WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS!!!!!

There is a mural on the wall in the Mt. Chiliad tram station at the top. It depicts a ufo, a cracked egg, and a jetpack. There are also lines and boxes with x's in them. Also, if you go up to the observation deck on the top of the mountain, go to the back side and see scratched in the side of the deck, "Come back when your story is complete".

This started the whole conspiracy discussion. Someone came back after getting 100% complete, at 3am, and during a lightning storm. From the observation deck, you can see a UFO toward the south. If you try to move toward it, it will eventually disappear until you back away. In essence, it is a hologram.

There are, however, two REAL ufo's which are only visible after 100%. The easiest one to see, is the one above the ufo hippies. Take a helicopter from that park and travel straight up. When you get to the "ceiling", you'll see it. If you approach it, your helicopter will lose power until you are a sufficient distance away.

There is also a ufo over Fort Zancudo. I have not been able to see it, as of yet so I'm not sure if the 3am and thunderstorm trigger it as well. This one looks a bit different, more like from the movie Independence Day. Some have reported being able to land on it, but then sliding off.

The UFO above ufo park and Mt. Chiliad have the letters FIB on the side, hence, the whole conspiracy theory that the government is involved.

Now, to the theory. A lot of people think that the mural indicates that there is a jetpack in the game, as yet undiscovered. They have overlayed the mural onto a map of Blaine County/LS and tried to line up the boxes with different areas of the map, placing the top of the mural at Mt. Zancudo or at the sunken underwater ufo which is located offshore north of the map. Also, there are many alien glyphs scattered around the map which people are trying to decode. There are also programmers trying to reverse engineer the code to look for what may hold the secret to the jetpack.

It sure is fun to speculate and look for clues others may have missed. However, IN MY OPINION, this is what the mural represents:

1. There is an easter egg in the game and it is the ufo's.
2. The boxes with x's represent the 5 different areas you need to complete to get 100% - Missions, Hobbies & Pastimes, Strangers & Freaks, Random Events, and Miscellaneous.
3. Once you complete all of the areas, it will unlock the ufo easter eggs.
4. The jetpack represents flight, not an actual jetpack. There is a line connecting the jetpack image with the ufo image, meaning, you need to FLY to see the UFO's.

The believers cannot be swayed. The non-believers cannot be changed. But it is a fun diversion if you're interested in pursuing it. :)
