Incase you aren't familiar with "tapping" it means that you can tap certain plants with your shovel and it will cause the head/flower of the plant to drop to the ground. Then the pinata should eat it.

The worst thing about ghouls and ghosts is when you finally get to the the end it forces you to play through all the levels again. That game was awesome but utter bullshit in that respect.
