Baddluckinc
This is what I have discovered about the online capabilities: "This goes hand-in-hand with Dogma's online compatibility, which aims to give you some of the taste of MMORPGs without the annoyances involved. "It's a four-person party, but you only control your own character," Itsuno said. "The other three are AI-controlled, one of which is the pawn that you'll be raising by yourself. The remaining two pawns are characters you can rent from someone else by connecting to the server. You're using the net to play with AI characters raised by your friends, which creates the feeling that you're playing with multiple characters. That's why you could also call this a multiplayer network game for a single player. Making it fully online creates a number of other issues -- you need a certain amount of people to play, you might want to go to bed but can't bail out of a game, and so forth. Part of the concept here was to eliminate those issues. You could think of it as a really easy-to-get-into network game." http://www.1up.com/news/dragon-dogma-explained-staff This game should be awesome =)
BBowles
I like this idea, but I was really looking forward to making 3 completely custom pawns so I could recreate parties from other games (such as a .hack inspired crew ). Guess I'll need to load up the game on a few dummy accounts and create the remaining pawns I need then

There is no multiplayer and it is nothing like dark souls. You do not ever enter another persons game world and they do not enter yours. Only NPCs that you hire from other players can enter your world and your pawn can be hired to play in others.
GaussianMist
The multiplayer portion is you share pawns with your friends. They'll run your pawn through a level, and when you get him back, he will have knowledge of the level he ran through. When you run through a dungeon you haven't been to before, but your pawn has, he will point stuff out to you. For example, he will know the location of rare items, or the weakness to the boss. DragonusDarque
So, if none of your friends are getting this game, you are stuck with just your character and one pawn? Of my friends, most have not even heard of this game, and the ones that have, only one is even considering getting this game. This leaves me with no friends to hire pawns from. Baddluckinc
Incorrect. You are not limited to only your friends pawns, but other people's pawns around the world. It will have a system where you can pick and choose a search criteria to find what kind of pawns your looking for as far as level, class, equipment, etc. and then choose what works for you. You will use currency called Rift points to purchase these pawns. Even if you decide not to use other players or your friends pawns there will be TONS of NPC pawns you can find throughout your game world to use as well . Having your friends essentially "play" with you is what the producer was talking about in the sense, the idea to use your friends Pawn character to help you in the world and have them learn new knowledge from monsters and the world, to then send back to your friends is a fun idea, and leaves for late night XBL Party Chat conversations, on how awesome or useless their pawn build is lol. Vermillion Haze
Builds are pretty important from what ive heard. Better so some research and not make a worthless pawn. Or prepare to recieve hate mail in the form of pawn reviews.
