Hello, and welcome to my achievement guide and road map for LEGO Lord of the Rings! This is my first guide, so feel free to offer any constructive criticism. In addition, if any information is incorrect, or you have information to add, please let me know.

Overview:

-Estimated achievement difficulty: 4/10

-Offline: 48/1000

-Online: 0

-Approximate amount of time for 1000/1000: 20-40 hours

-Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 2 (story and free play)

-Number of missable achievements: 0

-Glitched achievements: No glitched achievements, but the game is glitchy in general. Check out 'Cheats and useful links:' for more information.

-Do cheat codes disable achievements: No

-Does difficulty affect achievements: No difficulty

-Extra equipment needed: Second controller for I'm glad to be with you.

Road Map:

LEGO games are always a fun and easy, albeit somewhat time consuming 1000 gamerscore, and LEGO LotR is no exception.

The game will require 2 playthroughs: story mode, and free play, which allows you to go back and acquire collectibles. Although it isn't a playthrough, you'll also need to spend a fair amount of time finding collectibles all around Middle Earth, the game's massive hub world - the biggest in any LEGO game yet!

An important note: Any achievement that has a description that includes '(Single Player Only)' can only be earned on the primary profile of the saved game. (To put it simply, the gamertag who made the saved game is the only one who can get those achievements.)

Cheats and useful links:

If you want the 1000 as quickly and easily as possible, cheat codes to unlock many of the characters and extras are your best bet. They DO NOT disable achievements, so use them to your heart's content. To enter a cheat code, press :start: and go to 'Enter Cheat' under the 'Extras' menu. You'll find a list of cheats at the end of the guide.

Also, here are some useful links in case you get stuck in any level or want to know the location of a certain collectible.

Be sure to also read this post before your playthrough, as even though there are no glitched achievements, you could still be glitched regarding collectibles.

Warning about collecting minikits in levels by SpongebobRoundpants

Your story mode playthrough:

Start off the game by playing through each chapter in story mode. Throughout LEGO LotR, you will follow the events of all three books/films by traversing Middle Earth and playing chapters that chronicle key events in the plot. This boils down to 6 levels per movie, and at 3 movies, makes for a total of 18 chapters total, plus one bonus level. Simply follow the blue, transparent "ghost studs" that will lead to the next level if you find yourself lost.

Throughout your travels, you will see statues of men looking at maps. Approach and activate these Map Stones with :bbut: as you see them, for an achievement later, and to make the end of the game faster to complete because of their convenience of being able to fast travel between them.

Don't worry about searching for collectibles in this playthrough, because while in story mode you won't be able to find most of them.

After your story mode playthrough, you will have earned at least 19 achievements for a total of 455http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png. (One worth 25http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png for each level and Great! ...Where are we going? (5http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png)).

After completing the final chapter of the last book/film, "Mount Doom", follow the ghost studs (or fast travel) back to Rivendell to complete the Middle Earth bonus level, which involves playing as Sauron and destroying Middle Earth to find 1 million studs. This will net you The Lord of the Ring. (30http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png), and unlike past games, you will keep the 1 million you earn. ;)

A nice little note for gamers with friends who wouldn't mind getting a lot of achievements in the game quickly; you can load up any level in story mode (including the bonus level), save and exit, and your buddy will unlock the level completion achievement.

Your free play playthrough:

After playing through on story mode, it's time to tackle all of the level's many collectibles. Certain characters have abilities that will help you in discovering EVERYTHING in every level.

Frodo - Can use his acquired Phial of Caladriel to light up dark areas, can also use his elven cloak to turn invisible.

Sam - Can use his spade to dig up piles of dirt and grow plants, can use his tinderbox to light fires, can also use his acquired Elven Rope to pull things or climb to far off areas.

Merry - Can fish at LEGO jetties (docks) to acquire items and/or solve puzzles.

Pippin - Can fill his acquired bucket at pools of water and put out fires with it.

Aragorn Can track characters using green items, useful sword (explained further below).

Gandalf - Can use magic from his staff to move purple objects.

Legolas - Can jump extra high (as can all elves), can use his bow to shoot targets, and shoot arrows to swing from, can climb on tightropes.

Gimli - Can destroy cracked LEGO bricks with his axe, can be thrown by tall characters to destroy out of reach cracked LEGO bricks.

Gollum: Can climb walls and can fish like Merry. Other characters can also climb walls if wearing the Mithril Climbing Boots found in the "Mount Doom" level.

You'll also need a character to destroy certain red and black bricks. Once you've beaten the game, Aragorn's sword can do this. Elendil and Isildur from the Prologue also have capable swords, as well as Sauron from the bonus level.

You'll also need a "strong" character to pull orange handles. Sauron, Lurtz, Berserker, and Tom Bombadil and a most Urak-Hai characters can do this. Other characters can do this by wielding Mithril Boxing Gloves.

You'll need a small character to crawl through small doors. Any hobbit, dwarf (such as Gimli), or Gollum will work.

Finally, you'll need a character with explosives to destroy shiny Mithril Bricks. Berserker (found for purchase in Helm's Deep) is the only one to fit the bill. Other characters can use Mithril Fireworks to imitate his explosives, but the Mithril Fireworks won't be able to destroy very large Mithril Bricks, so buy Berserker.

Use the minikit chest finder extra to make finding the 10 minikits a level much easier. You'll also need to find a Mithril design and 3 treasures per level.

There is no achievement related to collecting all the minikits in this game, but aim for true adventurer in every level to get Ready for another adventure. (30http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png). If you're having trouble getting there, use any number of the score multiplier extras to make it a breeze.

Exploring Middle Earth:

After finding everything in every level, you'll need to explore the various locations of Middle Earth to discover all:

Mithril bricks - Found hidden or as a reward of puzzles.

Map Stones - Remember the statues I mentioned earlier? You'll find one of these in each key location. Simply activate them all for completion and to use to fast travel. (Extremely useful!)

Fetch Quests - Will require you to give the NPC a forged mithril weapon or a treasure found in a specific chapter.

Red Bricks - Rewards of forging Mithril item Fetch Quests. You will need to purchase them or simply use the cheat codes to unlock some of them.

Characters - Will be found wandering in the locations they were encountered in chapters. You must purchase them or simply use the cheat codes to unlock some of them.

Mithril designs - Just like the ones found in levels, they will be hidden or the rewards of puzzles.

Explore all locations and use all of the characters' abilities to find everything. Use the Mithril Brick Finder and Quest Finder extras to make it easier.

While exploring Middle Earth and finding everything, you'll unlock My Precious... (50http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png), There's some good in this world. (50http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png), I told you he was tricksy. (30http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png), Of all the inquisitive Hobbits. (30http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png) Here's a pretty thing! (30http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png), Not with 10,000 men... (30http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png)

Once you find everything, you'll have 100% completion and unlock There and Back Again. (75http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png)

Be sure to also go make a custom character in Frodo/Bilbo's house in Hobbiton, Bag End, as this counts towards 100% completion.

Congratulations! You're almost done...

Mop-Up and Conclusion:

At this point, you'll only have miscellaneous achievements remaining. Use the methods in the achievement guide if you have any trouble. Congratulations on 1000 gamerscore!

Here's to a hopefully upcoming LEGO The Hobbit video game!

There are 250 total Mithril Bricks to collect. There are 5 per chapter, with one for story completion, true adventurer, minikit completion, treasure completion, and finding the Mithril item design. That makes for 90 Mithril Bricks found in story chapters. The remaining 160 will be found as you explore Middle Earth. Use your map and the Mithril Brick Finder extra to make this easier.

Collect all the Red Bricks. (Single Player Only)

There are 20 Red Bricks to find and purchase, and they are unlocked to buy after completing the 20 Fetch Quests related to forging specific Mithril items. You may buy them all, or use cheats to unlock them, either way, the achievement will still unlock.

Unlock all the Map Stones in Middle-earth. (Single Player Only)

There are 16 Map Stones to find and activate with :bbut: around Middle Earth. You can grab these as you're traversing the world during the story, or go for them all afterwords. The only two I didn't have activated after playing through story mode were Isengard and Helm's Deep. Activating these is EXTREMELY useful, as you can use them to fast travel and show the locations of collectibles in the area on your map. The list of all the Map Stones is as follows:

-Hobbiton

-Bree

-Weathertop

-Rivendell

-The Pass of Caradhras

-Lothlorien

-Isengard

-Amon Hen

-Emyn Muil

-The Dead Marshes

-The Black Gate

-Helm's Deep

-Edoras

-Minas Tirith

-Minas Morgul

-Cirith Ungol

Unlock all characters. (Single Player Only)

There are 74 total characters to unlock. Your story mode playthrough will unlock 29 of them, and playing through the bonus level will unlock Sauron and Mouth of Sauron.

43 additional characters will be found wandering around various areas of Middle Earth for purchase. Use your map to make it easier to find them.

The last two characters you will unlock are Blacksmith and Lurtz (Newborn). Upon forging all Mithril items, you will unlock Blacksmith, and upon achieving 100% completion, Lurtz (Newborn) will be unlocked.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2340/5-1GCck=.jpg Here's a pretty thing! - 30http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Craft every Mithril item. (Single Player Only)

There are 30 total Mithril items to be crafted/forged. There is one design in each story chapter, with the remaining 12 being found in various areas of Middle Earth. Use your map to make finding all of the designs a faster process. Once you have the designs, each item will require a certain amount of Mithril Bricks to be forged, so you'll earn this achievement once you have enough Mithril Bricks to make all of the items.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2340/5-+JrvY=.jpg Ready for another adventure. - 30http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Achieve True Adventurer in every level. (Single Player Only)

You should be able to get enough studs on most chapters in story mode to meet this. For the levels that you don't, simply go back into the level in free play with stud multiplier extras turned on and this will be an effortless achievement.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2340/5-2op0M=.jpg The Lord of the Ring. - 30http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Complete the Bonus Level.

The bonus level can be found in Rivendell after completion of the final story chapter "Mount Doom". Follow the ghost studs or fast travel to the Map Stone in Rivendell and check your map for the location of the level. Smash your way to one million studs to unlock this achievement.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2340/5-xIX9A=.jpg Delved too greedily... - 25http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Collect more than 10,000,000,000 studs. (Single Player Only)

This may look impossible, but you can find and purchase Red Brick extras that will multiply the amount of studs you earn. With all multipliers, you will be earning x3840 the amount of studs, and this will unlock after playing through a handful of levels.

Complete a level in co-op.

The game has no online, so this will need to be done locally with a second controller. You can either play through an entire chapter with two players, or if you're doing it alone, have the second player jump in right before the level ends, the achievement will unlock regardless. I've even discovered by accident that you can simply start up a chapter and save and exit with two people; this one can't get much easier. Regardless of method used, this MUST be done in story mode.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2340/5-gKTLo=.jpg Don't tell the Elf... - 10http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Throw Gimli 30 times.

Gimli will be usable for this achievement once you form the fellowship in Rivendell. Throughout the story, you will have to throw Gimli to destroy out of reach cracked LEGO bricks. Opportunities for this are somewhat rare however, and you will need to grind this achievement.

To do it in a matter of a couple minutes, simply choose two tall characters directly after forming the fellowship. (Aragorn, Legolas, Boromir, and Gandalf are all options at this point).

Stand these characters a short distance from each other, and have one character grab Gimli with :bbut:. Throw him to the other character using :xbut: and click :ybut: to switch to that other character. Then simply rinse and repeat, playing catch with the dwarf until the achievement unlocks.

Don't wait until beating the game to do this, because in Middle Earth you'll be restricted to two characters, and won't be able to toss Gimli back and forth. If you for some reason didn't get it earlier and you've beaten the story, you'll need to go into a story mode chapter with two tall characters and Gimli; the chapter 'Track Hobbits' works beautifully for this. This achievement is also unlocked quicker in co-op because there's no need to switch characters; you can also both work on it at once this way.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2340/5-orRQ8=.jpg Our only wish to catch a fish! - 10http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Fish perfectly 20 times by pressing the icon as it flashes.

Throughout the story, either Merry, Gollum, or a character with a fishing rod item will have to fish at LEGO jetties (docks) to acquire items and/or solve puzzles. Opportunities for this are somewhat rare however, and you will need to grind this achievement.

To fish 'perfectly', wait for the circular hook around the button prompt to go completely around it, and begin to go inside, and then press the button. Your window of opportunity is a couple of seconds while the button is glowing, and should be easy enough to get the hang of after a couple of tries.

There are two ways to grind this achievement. The first of which is to play through the 'Taming Gollum' level in story mode. In the end boss battle against Gollum, you will need to catch fish with Sam using a fishing rod, and feed these fish to Gollum to distract him. Instead of hurting him when he is distracted, simply allow him to eat the fish, catch another fish, and repeat until the achievement unlocks.

The second method is the method I personally used. Many areas of Middle Earth have LEGO jetties close to their Map Stones, and you are able to fish again at each one upon leaving and reentering the area. Three good places to do this are the jetty near the Map Stone in Hobbiton, the jetty in Osgiliath near the Minas Morgul Map Stone, and the jetty near the Mines of Moria Map Stone.

Simply fast travel to one location, fish, travel somewhere else, fish, etc. until the achievement unlocks.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2340/5-nRxpc=.jpg That is a rare gift. - 10http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Reach the top of Amon Hen without being caught once by Boromir. (Single Player Only)

This achievement can only be unlocked in the sixth story chapter, Amon Hen.

The beginning of the chapter focuses on Boromir trying to steal the One Ring from Frodo. While playing as Frodo, simply take the level slow and do not step in front of Boromir at any time. If necessary, play the level a couple times to get the feel for it. Once you know how to complete this level, doing it without being caught by Boromir won't be difficult at all, as the only way you can be caught by him is by entering the brush he stands in. The achievement will unlock after this segment with Frodo and Boromir.

Defeat Gollum as Gollum.

This achievement can only be unlocked after completing 'The Secret Stairs' in story mode, which will unlock Gollum as a playable character.

To get this achievement, you'll need to make both players Gollum and have one kill the other. To do so, enter any level in free play and press and hold :ybut: and select the fifth circle going clockwise. From here you can select ANY character. Select Gollum, repeat this process with the second player, and kill one with the other.

If you wish to unlock this achievement in Middle Earth rather than in a story chapter in free play, you will need to wait until you've completed all of the story chapters, since free play selection of characters is not available in Middle Earth until then.

In the beginning of 'Weathertop', you'll be responsible for gathering three bundles of wood to start a fire, combining a fish, egg, and tomato in Sam's cooking pan, and cooking the mixture on the fire. This is what is considered a 'cooking puzzle'.

In the story chapters 'Amon Hen' and 'Cirith Ungol' in free play mode you will encounter puzzles similar to this. In 'Amon Hen', you'll find the puzzle in the segment after playing as Frodo, when you're playing as Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas on the beach. In 'Cirith Ungol', it's located just before you leave the tower, on the bottom floor.

Because of these three occurrences of cooking puzzles, you'll get this achievement while getting 100%, but if you want it sooner, just do one of them twice or go for two of the three immediately.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2340/5-vwzyI=.jpg That one counts as mine! - 10http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Finish one of Gimli's opponents as Legolas in 'Helm's Deep'.

This achievement can only be earned on the eleventh story chapter, Helm's Deep.

In the level Helm's Deep in story mode, you'll have Gimli, Legolas, and Aragorn as playable characters, which works perfectly for this achievement. Don't use Aragorn as he has no use here.

In the level, the attacking Urak-Hai take two hits to be killed. The first hit eliminates their armor, while the second deals the killing blow. To get the achievement, deal the first strike on an enemy as Gimli, and then finish them off with Legolas.

The achievement doesn't seem to unlock a lot of the time, and I didn't get it right away. If you are following the above instructions with no luck, simply consistently alternate as Gimli and Legolas while fighting Urak-Hai and the achievement will unlock before too long. If you don't get the achievement on your first story mode playthrough, replay the level and try again. It seems to unlock more if the two hits by both characters are done in quick succession, so doing this in co-op will prove easier because of not needing to switch characters for each hit. You can simply have your buddy be Gimli and strike immediately after, and then he can take a turn being Legolas to get the achievement himself.

Use the Ent Draught on Pippin.

The Ent Draught is one of the three treasures you'll find on the ninth story chapter, 'Track Hobbits'. You'll find it after you begin playing as Treebeard, located on a tree you plant.

Once you have the Ent Draught, enter any level in free play and press and hold :ybut: and select the fifth circle going clockwise. From here you can select ANY character, so select Pippin. Switch characters with :ybut:, and press and hold :bbut: and select the fifth circle going clockwise. Find the Ent Draught among your many treasures, equip it, and hit Pippin with :xbut:.

If you wish to unlock this achievement in Middle Earth rather than in a story chapter in free play, you will need to wait until you've completed all of the story chapters, since free play selection of characters is not available in Middle Earth until then. Pippin may also be available for you depending on your progress in the story.

Complete 'The Mines of Moria' in under 15 minutes.

This achievement can only be earned on the fifth story chapter, The Mines of Moria.

Normally this achievement would be quite a challenge, as 'The Mines of Moria is a fairly long level to complete in under 15 minutes.

However, this achievement is exploitable. You must first complete the level in story mode, then replay the level in story mode again, (NOT free play), collect a few studs, and then choose Save & Quit in the start menu. If you exit the level the first time you play Story mode, or you do not collect a few studs the second time, you will just exit back to Middle Earth and it will not save.

If the exploit is not unlocking the achievement for you, try to earn it legitimately. The opposite also applies; it seems that if one method doesn't work for you specifically, the other will. Regardless of method used, this MUST be done in story mode.

A patch released on 12/20/12 fixes this exploit and now is unattainable that way if you've downloaded the update. To correct this, clear your cache and restart the game. When it prompts you to download the update, decline it and you will play offline. You can then use the exploit to unlock the achievement. If you want a time stamp on the achievement, you'll need to accept the update and earn the achievement legitimately.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2340/5-2T1f0=.jpg Dance of the dead. - 10http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Turn an enemy into a skeleton and make them dance.

Here's one of the more humorous achievements in the game, and it's fairly easy to unlock. To get this achievement you'll need to find the designs for two Mithril items and forge them. These items are the Mithril disco phial and either the Mithril skeleton sword or the Mithril skeleton bow.

All three objects will be found while free roaming in Middle Earth. The Mithril disco phial design is found in Minas Tirith, the Mithril skeleton sword design is found at Weathertop, and the Mithril skeleton bow design is found in Lothlorien. To reiterate, you only need ONE of the two skeletal weapons. All three cost 16 Mithril bricks apiece to forge, so save up. I have also discovered that the Mithril Music Horn, (design can be found in 'The Black Rider'), can be used as a substitute for the Mithril Disco Phial.

Once you have gotten the phial and one of the two skeletal weapons, the fun begins. Press and hold :bbut: and select fifth circle going clockwise. Find the skeleton sword or bow among your many treasures, equip it, and hit your partner with :xbut:.

They'll be turned into a skeleton. Using the same process, select the phial. Upon equipping it and being in the vicinity of your partner, they will begin to dance and the achievement will unlock.

Defeat 42 Uruk-hai as Legolas.

This achievement is as easy as it sounds. A couple of good levels to go for this are 'Amon Hen' and 'Helm's Deep', with the latter having unlimited enemy spawns if you don't continue progression by destroying all of the ladders. If you're attempting it on 'Helm's Deep', you can work on it at the same time as trying to unlock That one counts as mine!

Form The Fellowship of the Ring.

This achievement will be unlocked through normal story progression and cannot be missed.

After completing 'Weathertop', you'll need to head to Rivendell to continue the story. Once there, follow the ghost studs to another cut scene in which the Fellowship of the Ring will be formed.

Once the cut scene ends and the nine companions set off, the achievement will unlock.

Travel to Isengard as every playable Hobbit.

There are six playable hobbits that you'll need for this achievement, and they are: Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin, Bilbo Baggins, and Rosie. The first four will be unlocked after your story playthrough, and Bilbo and Rosie will be available for purchase in Hobbiton.

To get the achievement, simply fast travel via Map Stone or walk on foot to Isengard with the aforementioned characters.

You DO NOT need to travel to Isengard with the variants of these characters: Frodo (Orc Disguise), Sam (Orc Disguise), Merry (Rohirrim Square), Pippin (Gondor Armor), Frodo (Weary), Sam (Weary), Bilbo Baggins (Old), but you may choose to use any of them in place of the original characters if you wish.

Travel to Trollshaws as Bilbo.

You'll find Trollshaws between Weathertop and Rivendell; it's the small area in which Arwen raised the water from the stream on the ringwraiths following the events of the 'Weathertop' chapter.

To get this achievement press and hold :ybut: and select the fifth circle going clockwise. From here you can select ANY character. Select either Bilbo Baggins or Bilbo Baggins (Old). Use whichever one you prefer or have unlocked, as both will work for the achievement.

Fast travel to Weathertop, and begins to walk towards Rivendell. Use your map and/or set a destination if you're unsure of how to get there. Upon entering Trollshaws, the achievement will unlock. You can also do the opposite and come from Rivendell and go towards Weathertop if you wish.

Equip Aragorn with the Mushroom Crown.

This achievement can only be unlocked after completing 'Weathertop' in story mode, which will unlock Aragorn as a playable character.

The Mushroom Crown is a treasure item you'll find while playing free play on the second chapter of the story mode, 'The Black Rider'. It is located shortly before the level ends, in a pile of dirt that Sam or Tom Bombadil can dig up with their spade.

Once you have the item, press and hold :ybut:. From here you can select ANY character. Be sure to select just plain old Aragorn, and not any of his variants, as those won't work for the achievement. Then, press and hold :bbut: and select fifth circle going clockwise. Find the Mushroom Crown among your many treasures, equip it, and the achievement will unlock.

If you wish to unlock this achievement in Middle Earth rather than in a story chapter in free play, you will need to wait until you've completed all of the story chapters, since free play selection of characters is not available in Middle Earth until then. Aragorn may also be available for you depending on your progress in the story.

Dress a character completely in treasure items.

You can unlock this achievement while in a chapter or Middle Earth. Dressing a character completely means covering their head, chest, hands, and feet with treasure items. Both forged Mithril treasures and treasures found within story chapters will work for this achievement. You can use all of one or the another, or any combination of the two.

To clothe your character, press and hold :bbut: and select fifth circle going clockwise. Find a treasure for your head, chest, hands, and feet and equip them all. I personally got this achievement with the Sun Hat, Wooden Armor, Mithril Boxing Gloves, and the Decorative Horseshoes, but as stated earlier, any treasures will do.

Walk into Mordor.

This achievement definitely gets my vote for best achievement of the year, as it'll amuse fans of the Lord of the Rings series and leave some people scratching their heads when it unlocks.

Anyway, onto unlocking the achievement; this is an easy one. To nab this achievement, simply walk into Cirith Ungol in Mordor with any character. Fast travel via Map Stone and walk up the path towards the tower and the achievement will unlock. It's also possible to fast travel to Cirith Ungol, walk a little bit away from the Map Stone, and walk back to it to pop the achievement.

You'll need to be part way into the third book/film to access this area, and it's always just an option just to wait until you've beaten the story mode and can go anywhere.

Defeat an Oliphaunt as Legolas.

I'm pretty sure this achievement is practically unmissable, because I believe the Oliphaunts must be defeated to progress in the level, but I suppose it could be missed if you're playing in co-op and your partner eliminates all the opportunities to unlock it.

In both the end of 'The Dead Marshes' and 'The Battle of Pelennor Fields', you'll fight several Oliphaunts which resemble- you guessed it, elephants. In 'The Dead Marches' you won't be playing as Legolas unless you're in free play, so 'The Battle of Pelennor Fields' is where you're most likely to unlock this achievement.

Some Oliphaunts on 'The Battle of Pelennor Fields' have weaknesses to Aragorn's sword and not Legolas' bow and therefore won't work. Other Oliphaunts have pegs on their legs for firing arrows into to swing off of. Do that, and climb up the creature, eliminating all opposition up top. Once you defeat all the foes in the riding the Oliphaunt, the poor creature will flee and the achievement will unlock.

As unlikely as it is, if you do miss this achievement because of a co-op partner stealing all the kills, reenter one of the two previously mentioned levels in free play, select Legolas, and kick some Oliphaunt butt.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2340/5-g5daY=.jpg It won't be that easy! - 5http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

During 'Prologue', jump into the fires of Mount Doom as Isildur.

This achievement can only be earned in the first story chapter, Prologue.

Ah, another chuckle worthy and simple secret achievement. To unlock this bad boy, load up the first story chapter, 'Prologue' in story mode or free play mode, as it can be earned in both, although I could not get it to unlock while playing in co-op.

You'll be able to unlock this achievement right before the chapter ends. The level is composed of essentially four phases: fighting orcs, fighting Sauron, climbing up Mount Doom, and entering the volcano. Your opportunity in that last phase, when you enter the volcano.

Towards the end of the level, you'll fight a ton of orcs on the mountain, and a group of them will come from a pair of double doors. Once you defeat everyone and enter the doors, you'll be inside the volcano. Press and hold :ybut: and select the fifth circle going clockwise. From here you can select ANY character; Pick Isilidur. All there is left to do at this point is jump off the bridge into the fires of Mount Doom. If you're in story mode, simply pick him from his normal place in the character wheel.

A word of warning: if you walk all the way across the bridge to the platform at the end, the level will end and you'll need to replay the level again to get the achievement.

Craft the Fire and Ice Bows. (Single Player Only)

For this achievement, you'll need to find the designs for two specific Mithril items, (the fire bow and ice bow), and forge them.

The design for the Fire Bow is found in the eleventh story chapter 'Helm's Deep' after you topple all of the Urak-Hai ladders, behind some shiny brick that must be destroyed by Berserker or the Mithril Fireworks.

The design for the Ice Bow is found in the fourteenth story chapter 'Cirith Ungol' near the end of the level, when you're searching for orc armor for Frodo and Sam.

Both bows cost 8 Mithril Bricks each to craft/forge, so this achievement will set you back 16 Mithril Bricks. Once you forge both Mithril items at the Blacksmith in Bree, the achievement will unlock.

Your description for the red brick achievement is the same as the following achievement for map stones. Disregard I saw you edited it, I must have been looking at an old page.

Also a question: I plan on playing coop at least the entire first play through and would like to get all achievements this way, do the ones that say single player only really mean that they cannot be obtained in coop?

I believe this means player 2 cannot grab any collectibles. Also some for doing certain tasks during levels youll probably have to do that later by yourself.

You can get "we can not linger" legit. I tried to glitch it on story and free play 5 times with no succes so I ran through story mode as quick as possible and it popped no problem

You'll have to collect some studs in order to save&quit. That should always work.

Played both? Story and free play? I dunno if this matters. But you should give it a try.

It kinda sucks, if it won't unlock for some players.

Anyway, somebody around here, who found a guide (with pictures would be perfect) for the treasure items (not the minikits)

i tried multiple times collecting studs or not and on story mode or free play and the glitch would never work but isn't that what glitches are...they work for some but not others, i've played plenty of games glitch free that others have suffered with but anyway, i got mine in the end legit so it's deffo possible without the glitch unlike the guide states

Won't let me get " we cannot linger" by saving and quiting tried a few times tried picking up studs tried killing a few enemy's it just will not pop for menus I save and quit.

play it through once on story so you know what you're meant to be doing them run through it again concentrating on finishing it quick. it's pretty easy and the ach will pop no problem

I had to keep playing until I got to the troll before it would pop (after save and quit) so try that. If it still doesn't work you may have to dashboard it. Some achievements for this game didn't pop until I rebooted.

Did you defeat the Troll or Save and Quit right when the Troll battle began. I have tried entering and exiting the level during free play to get the achievement with no luck. Just wondering if there is something else I am suppose to try. Thanks

Complete 2 cooking puzzles.

This achievement can only be earned on the third story chapter, Weathertop.

In the beginning of 'Weathertop', you'll be responsible for gathering three bundles of wood to start a fire, combining a fish, egg, and tomato in Sam's cooking pan, and cooking the mixture on the fire.

This is the only 'cooking puzzle' I've seen in the game. Therefore, to get this achievement, simply play through this beginning section of 'Weathertop' twice. To minimize playthroughs, simply complete your mandatory story mode and free play runs of the level and you'll have the achievement.

I think the cooking puzzle in the Amon Hen Freeplay session will also count for this achievement.
