Welcome to Gunslinger, the latest instalment to the Call of Juarez series. This game takes us back to the Old West featuring fast and frantic gameplay that will have you shooting like a true Gunslinger. Adding the skill points feature to the game which allows the player to purchase and apply skills/perks to their guns and themselves to aid you in missions and liven up the gameplay. The game features a story, arcade & duels mode.

Story

The story consists of 14 missions which all last between 10-20mins. You will need to complete the game at least twice, the first playthrough on either Normal or Hard which will unlock the True West difficulty, this will be your second playthrough. You will unlock That's How it Was, Grows In The Telling, Last Man Standing and addition to these achievements you will unlock 6 of the 7 secret achievements which are all Story related and unmissable, except the final decision achievements which you can do across your two playthroughs.

Nuggets

Nuggets of Truth are the form of collectables in this game. Each mission has them varying from 3-6 per level, there are 54 in total. The easy to follow video guide below shows the location of all of them. You will unlock True Story to collect very Nugget in a level and Unvarnished Truth to collect every Nugget in the game

Arcade

Arcade most consists of 10 short levels where you'll be racing to the end while getting headshots and stringing combos together in order to get the highest score. You have to get 3 stars on every level, this will prove difficult at first but with practice will come success. You will earn The Tally, Magnificent Three & Legends Among Legends for completing Arcade mode.

Duels

The final mode in this game includes a unique Duels mode which consists of 15 stages, you get five lives and if you run out then you fail the challenge and must restart from stage 1. If you beat all 15 stages, you will unlock Honor Intact.

Misc

There are various miscellaneous achievements such as using concentration mode for 15 minutes, killing a bird in a winning duel, shooting dynamite sticks, through shield holes and unlocking all the skills which will most of not all come naturally.

Complete the Story on any difficulty. - 10:gsicon:

You need to complete the 14 missions available in the Story mode on any difficulty. Difficulty does stack. The 14 missions are as follows;

  • Once Upon a Time In Stinking Springs
  • A Fistful of Hot Lead
  • A Bullet for The Old Man
  • Gunfight at The Sawmill
  • The Magnificent One
  • Be Quick or Be Dead
  • Dances with Renegades
  • They Call Me Bounty Hunter
  • Bounty Hunter Is Still My Name
  • Not So Great Train Robbery
  • 1:30 To Hell
  • Death Rides a Steel Stallion
  • Without Forgiveness
  • The Good, The Bad, And The Dead

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2472/8.jpg Unvarnished Truth - 25:gsicon:

Collect all Nuggets of Truth.

There are 54 collectables in the game across the story, they can all be tracked by level in-game. Below is collectables guide showing every Nugget of Truth in the game.

Note: It is recommended that you collect all of the Nuggets in your main story playthrough as you will earn a considerable amount of xp for getting these, which will ultimately boost your way in unlocking all the skills, as you cannot earn xp in Recollections mode.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2472/9.jpg The Tally - 20:gsicon:

Complete all Arcade missions.

You need at least 1 star one each of the 10 arcade missions for this achievement. Earning a once star is just a matter of finishing the mission, no matter how many points you have. The 10 missions are as follows;

  • Lincoln County
  • Stinking Springs
  • Gold Rush
  • Iron Springs
  • Bull's Head Saloon
  • Apache Territory
  • Grand Valley
  • Coffeyville
  • Missouri Swamps
  • Guadalue Canyon

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2472/10.jpg Magnificent Three - 10:gsicon:

Score the maximum of 3 stars in any Arcade mission.

This is easiest done on the first mission as you only need 110,000 points to reach 3 stars (based on leaderboards scores). The main thing to remember is a pick a class you're best suited with whether it'll be duel pistols & dynamite or a shotgun and make sure to keep your combo throughout the entire mission. Remember, practice and persistence.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2472/11.jpg Legend Among Legends - 25:gsicon:

Get all Arcade Mode stars.

You need to get 3 stars on each of the 10 arcade missions. This will not prove easy at first but levelling up your favourite weapon category will hugely benefit you throughout. The gap from 2 star to 3 is large and will require a lot of practice and retries as it all depends on the combo you get. You need to pretty much hold a single combo from start to finish on all missions to attain 3 stars.

  • Lincoln County - 110,000
  • Stinking Springs - 140,000
  • Gold Rush - 170,000
  • Iron Springs - 160,000
  • Bull's Head Saloon - 80,000
  • Apache Territory - 120,000
  • Grand Valley - 170,000
  • Coffeyville - 220,000
  • Missouri Swamps - 130,000
  • Guadalue Canyon - 330,000

The above scores are accurate estimates of the points needed for 3 stars PURELY BASED OFF GLOBAL LEADERBOARDS, just to give you an idea.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2472/12.jpg For a Few Skills More - 25:gsicon:

Unlock all skills in Story Mode.

You need to reach level 37 which requires approximately 600,000xp to unlock the last skill point needed to unlock every skill. This will require a minimum of 2 playthroughs and maybe a few missions more depending on your play style. You have to choose "New Game Plus" for skills & xp to carry over across different playthroughs. You cannot gain XP in Recollections (Chapter select) as that option is purely for picking up missed collectables.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2472/13.jpg Perseverance - 15:gsicon:

Unlock both exclusive weapons in a single category of skills in Story Mode.

While on the skills menu, you'll notice there are 3 category of skills entitled Gunstringer, Ranger & Trapper. Each of these play styles have 2 unique weapons attached to them, and each weapon has 6 skills before them. As all the skills are interconnected by the arrows, you can see that you will either have to unlock the top 4 or bottom 4 skills to unlock that weapon. That means you need at least 8 skill points to unlock 2 weapons in the same category.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2472/14.jpg Honor Intact - 20:gsicon:

Complete the duel challenge, winning all duels honorably.

There are 15 stages in the Duel mode, you have five cards (meaning 6 chances altogether) across all 15 stages so if you die six times you will have to start from stage one. These become progressively harder as the enemy will holster quicker or there will more enemies for you to kill. The Duel controls are quite difficult to grasp at first on this game, but only practice and persistence will get you through the stages. A good tip is that when you're trying to dodge their bullets in some cases then you should always pull to the right as this will guarantee your survival.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2472/15.jpg Last Man Standing - 25:gsicon:

Complete the Story on True West difficulty.

You will have to complete game at least once on any difficulty before you unlock this. It is the hardest difficulty in the game and although the game itself isn't too hard, the boss fights can be a little tough and frustrating even on Hard difficulty. Make sure to efficiently use your concentration, look out for ammo boxes and do not rush into battles, always keep back and pick your shots. You will reach the end of the game slowly but surely.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2472/16.jpg Trick Shot - 15:gsicon:

Kill a bird during a winning duel.

You can either get this during the duel at the end of the first mission in Story mode by shooting the chickens besides the enemies feet or even quicker method being, you can get this in the very first duel stage in Duel mode. A dishonorable duel will be easier, so you can quickly shoot the chicken then the enemy. Here is a video to help.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2472/17.jpg Quality Time - 20:gsicon:

Fight in Concentration for 15 minutes.

This will come over time. The time spent in concentration mode accumulates between multiple playthroughs but this normally unlocks near the end of your first playthrough.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2472/18.jpg Ungrateful - 15:gsicon:

Shoot a flying stick of dynamite and the one who threw it on a single Concentration.

You can easily get this at the start of the 5th level. Once you reach the mine entrance enemies will throw dynamite sticks at you and you need to make sure you have at least half of your concentration filled up on the top left. Kill everyone but one enemy and watch out for when they throw a stick. Once they throw one press RB to go into concentration mode, shoot the dynamite and kill the enemy before it runs out. Make sure to not shoot the dynamite too early or it will kill the enemy who threw it and won't count.

If you find it too difficult here, you can get it later in the level when you have to choose to either take the ladder up or the lift. One at the top, enemies will throw dynamite at you again and you need to have your concentration filled up by this point. If you fail at this point just restart checkpoint as the spawn is right at that area. A video below to help.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2472/20.jpg Turkey Shoot - 20:gsicon:

Reach combo level of 20.

If you plan on getting full stars in Arcade mode, then you will have to average 40x combo's in which case this will come early on. If you're having trouble, the second arcade mission is an easy one to rack up a 20x combo. Pick the duel pistol loadout with dynamites and once after a few attempts you will know the layout of the mission. A few tips, try to reload after every 3-4 kills when you have a few seconds breathing room. You have to either kill an enemy or shoot an explosive every 4 seconds for the combo to keep going or you will lose it. Remember to melee when you can too.

If you're having trouble with the above method, a slightly easier way of getting the achievement is at the end of the 10th mission in the story where you will jump onto a gatling gun and enemies will pour out constantly, you should easily be able to get a 20x+ combo here. The below video shows the gatling gun section.

Complete the Story on hard difficulty.

You need to complete the 14 missions available in the Story mode on hard difficulty. Difficulty does stack. The 14 missions are as follows;

  • Once Upon a Time In Stinking Springs
  • A Fistful of Hot Lead
  • A Bullet for The Old Man
  • Gunfight at The Sawmill
  • The Magnificent One
  • Be Quick or Be Dead
  • Dances with Renegades
  • They Call Me Bounty Hunter
  • Bounty Hunter Is Still My Name
  • Not So Great Train Robbery
  • 1:30 To Hell
  • Death Rides a Steel Stallion
  • Without Forgiveness
  • The Good, The Bad, And The Dead

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2472/22.jpg Full Blast -10:gsicon:

Kill a shotgunner with a close-range shotgun blast.

The earliest you can get this near the beginning of 9th mission, the foggy swamp area. A few minutes into the mission you will approach a broken barn with a shotgun and ammo box layed out perfectly for you. Ahead of this bar will be some enemies and one of them will be a shotgunner (large man, wears a top hat.) You will know you're shooting at a shotgunner as the title "SHOTGUNNER" will show in the top centre of the screen, simply run up close and pump 2-3 shots into him. You can do some damage to him with pistols from a distance then finish him off with a shotgun round close up if you like or simply go for a headshot.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2472/23.jpg True Story - 10:gsicon:

Find all Nuggets of Truth in a single mission.

Easiest done on the first mission as there are only 3 collectables on this map and they're all fairly out in the open. The below video shows you all 3 Nuggets of Truth on the first level.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2472/24.jpg Swift Justice - 10:gsicon:

Win a duel honorably in under 0.6s.

You will need to steady your focus (:rs:) as equally as your speed (:ls:). 90%+ on both is ideal if you want this to be as easiest as possible, the main point is you must press RT as soon as you hear the enemy pick his weapon then press RT again to shoot. If you do not get this naturally throughout the story then you can keep on trying in the first duel stage in Duel mode. The below video will help.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2472/25.jpg Death From Above - 10:gsicon:

Kill 5 enemies when falling down through the air.

You can unlock this as early as the end of the first mission of the story, when you jump outside from the barn you will lock onto 5 enemies in which you must just shoot. If you somehow miss it here, you can also get it later in the story on the 4th mission, when you're escaping the collapsing underground mine, as you reach outside and just about to fall down you will lock onto 5 enemies again. A video below to help, this is the 4th mission example.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2472/26.jpg Keep At It - 5:gsicon:

Unlock a skill.

This will be your first achievement, you unlock skills with skill points which you earn by levelling up from killing enemies. Hold the back button at any time while playing to bring up the Skills menu.

Kill your lifetime nemesis honorably in a duel.

At the very end of the game, you will have an option to choose either Revenge or Redemption towards you know you. Choose Revenge and remember, you must them honorably. Achievement will unlock after the duel.

Note: If you want to earn both "ending" achievements without having to play the whole game twice, then you must select "Continue" from the Story menu after you have finished a whole playthrough of the game, but before you have started a second playthrough. This includes New Game Plus.

By selecting "Continue" you will replay the last level including the finale duel. You cannot simply select the last mission in Recollections mode as the level ends after the double duel outside and doesn't proceed to the present.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2472/19.jpg For Massive Damage - 10

Shoot through a hole to kill an enemy that hides behind a shield.

Throughout the game you will encounter enemies carrying wooden shields with holes near the top. They occasionally pop their head out if you get too close, so from a distance while they're a walking towards you, you will see their head through the hole, you need to kill them through the hole with a headshot. An easy level to get this one is on the 4th mission when you're in the Lumber yard, there will be 3 "Shielders" all following each other for you to practice on. Below is a video showing a Shielder enemy and the player getting a headshot on him.

This Time For Real, There's More To It, Staying Afloat and Righteous are story related and cannot be missed.

Into The Sunset and Violence Begets Violence are for completing the game with each of the two available endings (you get to choose which after completing the last level). Choosing continue from the main menu after completing the game will allow you to just replay the last level to earn the other achievement.

For Massive Damage = There are some enemies throughout the game that carry large wooden shields. You can kill them when they pop out from the sides, or when they're walking their head is visible in a small hole in the centre of the wood. Getting a headshot through the hole unlocks this achievement.

You'll need to complete the story once on any difficulty to unlock the True West difficulty, making the minimum number of playthroughs 2.

Cheers for the info. I just got the wooden shield achievement start of level 4, quiet tricky but only took a few attempts. Will add your info to the guide.

Glad everything carries over too.

Just to let you know, the For maximum damage achievement (the one for killing someone through the hole in the shield) can actually be obtained as early as level 2, after you drop down into the second down area and you do the shooting QTE, there's a shielder that comes right at you, you can pop him through the hole and grab the achieve. Hope this helps :),

EDIT : Oh and as a side note, the achievement For Massive Damage, is only worth 10g :)

I may have more videos to offer but here is me getting Trick Shot. I hope this helps your guide. Also I would be thankful for acknowledgement.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tu4kfOydoV8]Call Of Juarez Gunslinger - Trick Shot Achievement / Trophy Guide - YouTube[/ame]

This is obtained at the end of the very first level.

You can restart your check point if you kill the enemy and don't hit a chicken. Also He will pace differently each time. Keep restarting the checkpoint until he stops where there are chickens around his feet. Make sure you are keeping your hand over the gun to increase your speed and pull your gun first dishonorably by pulling your weapon first. Aim the cross hair and fire at a chicken then at your enemy and be sure to dodge.

Note my lack of HUD is do to playing on True West difficulty.

"Violence Begets Violence" is one of 2 choices at the end of the game. This is the revenge option and you must honorably duel him. While "Into the Sunset" is the redemption choice.

Here is a video for "Turkey Shoot" during the campaign. This is good if you want to get the achievement prior to playing arcade mode.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7zgibhxLB0]Call Of Juarez - Turkey Shoot Achievement / Trophy Guide - YouTube[/ame]

This is obtained in "Not So Great Train Robbery".

You will go onto a gatling gun and tons of enemies will rush you. All you have to do is keep killing one every 4 seconds to keep your chain going.

Trick Shot is more easily earned in duel mode. Duel 3 vs Old Man Clanton, there is a vulture sitting on a rock just to the left. He has always walked back to the left before drawing for me, so the vulture ends up located just next to his head. You'll still need to dodge a shot, but it's easier to aim for the vulture at head height than the chickens on the ground.

For the duels mode (which ive done now), as soon as you gain control, move the left stick towards your gun, it wont need much adjusting so pay more attention to your focus, but obviously try to keep your hand over the gun. Its then just down to reflexes to draw as soon as you see his hand move.

Eventually in the duels mode you have to fight 2 men at once in a duel. I attempted duel mode loads before i got the hang of it, and EVERY time its always the guy on the right that draws first. I lost on this duel so many times initially. Also having got to that duel in the story, i thought i would test it and deliberately lost in order to see who drew first. EVERY time it was the guy on the right, now i dont know if it was crazy coincidence but ive had that particular duel about 9 times and its always been him.

The last duel at round 15 was pretty tough because the 2 guys you are dueling against are a fair distance apart and you have to press LB and RB to switch between the two of them, just focus on the guy looking at you, if he turns his head, focus on the other guy.

I got to this last round with 3 lives and thankfully did it on my first attempt, but really if you're going for this achievement you dont want to lose any lives up until you fight the 2 guys (Dalton bros). As the further you get, the faster the guys become.

Yeah just incase people don't want to play through the first level for this and rely on the chickens, this will be a good alternative.

Ok cool. I'm having a lot of trouble grasping the duels on this still. I got as far as the 8th stage then I normally start losing my lives from then on, certainly not looking forward to the last stage.

Swift Justice. OK, so what i tried to do for this, is instead of waiting to see the enemies hand move, to try and anticipate the hand movement. That's why my reaction time is so fast. Achievement is still so fresh its not appeared on my TA account, but according to that im only the 14th person to unlock it!!

Congrats Hartman... I figured you'd need to try to guess for the reaction. After heaps of duelling, I can get my actual reaction time (waiting til I see them draw) down to 0.233, with an overall of around 0.65, but I really don't see myself getting it any faster without predicting the draw.

I was having the same trouble as you, i could get reaction time down to around 0.26+ consistently. I'm pretty sure its not random when he draws, it seemed like he draws after a certain time, maybe i just read too much into it. But trying to predict when he is going to draw i did it on my second attempt so try that mate.

@B A R 4 D. I'm definitely glad that ones out the way. Only achievement that will probably elude me (more cos i'm not sure i can be bothered), is the one for getting ALL stars on arcade. There isn't much room for error, i got 3 stars on the first level with a combo of 46. Just seems like an unnecessary grind to me. You have to practically carry the whole combo from start to finish.

Here is Swift Justice Video. I did it with my eyes closed just listening to sound at the end. Shot too early and still had ample time for a second shot. Hope this helps.

This can be obtained on any duel.

I made sure my speed and focus percentage was way up. As soon as you hear the heart beats you know he will pull his gun out. the trick is right on the fourth beat he pulls. I actually closed my eyes as soon as I heard beats and did it purely on sound. This is why I shot too early initially but I still had time for a second shot.

Exactly what i thought, I also tried to go by the heart beat, i was pretty certain the enemies gun draw was not random but was in fact timed.
