superdupergizmo
hey i'm in part 3 at the bit where you have to give the monkey 5 bananas but maybe i forgot to save cos i did everything you did in the guide and i only had 3 bananas to give him. or maybe my inventory was full, can that happen in this game? this is my first playthrough. but since he didn't get 5 bananas i cant get the idol and i can't get the banana picker to get more bananas. i looked everywhere where there could be bananas. i'm getting kinda tired of this can anyone help? i hope i don't have to start over.. EDIT nevermind, i'm fucking clueless =D i missed the bit where i had to bomb the banana tree...
superdupergizmo
if i remember right the flint is the rock you pick up with one of the messages, it's called something like 'noteworthy rock'. use it with the spyglass then use that with the gunpowder. McDurbin
Pick up feather pen. (Behind Guybrush) Pick up ink. Walk to door. (To the left) Walk to rope ladder. (On the mast) Pick up Jolly Roger. Walk to ship deck. (Below Guybrush) Walk to hatch. (Between Meathook & Otis) Walk to hatch. Open kegs. (To the left) Pick up giant piece of rope. (Bottom middle) Open chest. (Bottom righthand corner) Look at chest. Walk to ladder. Walk to door. (Left of the exit ladder) Open cupboard. (To the left of the room) Pick up cereal. Walk to ladder. (To the left of the room) Walk to ladder. Walk to door. (To the captain's cabin) Open cereal. Look at prize. Use small key in cabinet. (To the right of the room) Open chest. Look at chest. Walk to door. Walk to hatch. Walk to door. Use cinnamon sticks with cooking pot. Use cereal with cooking pot. Use Jolly Roger with cooking pot. Use ink with cooking pot. Use fine wine with cooking pot. Use rubber chicken on cooking pot. Use gunpowder with cooking pot. Use breath mints with cooking pot. Where do you find these items? I looked over the guide to see if I missed picking it up and I didn't see where you said to pick these up. When I tried to put the other items in he says that he needs a recipe. I can't remember, maybe they don't really exist and I made them both up... try looking in the chest in the hold and the chest in the Captain's room (the one that requires the key), but I wouldn't get your hopes up. The more I think about it, the more I believe they're fake and should be ignored entirely!
McDurbin
I tried that and still no recipe. Plus it doesn't give me an option to look at the chest, just open or close.

gtogsx
I'm at the point where I have to find something to give the cannibals. In the guide it says, "Click on CLEARING. (Right of the beach) Walk right, past the skulls. Pull nose. (Of the lefthand totem pole. The nose is the middle one) Walk away from the totem pole. (Click anywhere around the screen) Walk to gigantic monkey head. Pick up wimpy little idol". I pull on the nose on the totem pole and click away but the gate closes. How do you get it to keep open? **UPDATE Nevermind, I've got the monkey to help me out Edited June 1, 2011 by gtogsx
loganlogan80
Thanks for this guide, it helped a TON! I plan on getting Monkey Island 2 and using your guide for it.
HarleyQuinn
Thank you so much for this guide. Just finished my second playthrough in less than 2h. I didn't remember whom I marooned on my first playthrough, but knowing myself I figured that pulling the arc probably didn't occur to me. I did it on 2nd Playthrough and marooned everyone. Adamontise
Thank you! I completed the game today and then did the cannon achievement in 1 hour and 24 minutes thanks to your walkthrough! As well as bagging myself the holding breath, swordfighting and alternate ending achievements!
MaseJ
Thanks for putting this together! I nearly finished my Human Cannonball last night, only have last 2 chapters to complete. Looks like it'll only take another 30mins give or take. Gaining the insults wasn't too bad. I saved between fights so if I didn't get at least 2 new insults/comebacks, I reloaded. Only used up 10mins max. Thank again!

PeaceSquid
Excellent guide. Played Monkey Island properly for the first time yesterday and romped through the achievements easily. Couple of moments caught me out. In the governor's mansion you kind of skip over that whole mad sequence where you just press A. It confused me a bit as I thought I deviated from the guide somehow. Flint = noteworthy rock. Calling it flint gave me a moment to pause. If you do the save for the alternate ending and you've got a lot of save slots used and you want to track down the right one it'll be the 57% save. Riding the boat around the island and up to the cannibal's village. This confused me as you can't just click the top of the screen anywhere like the guide says but rather you have to click near the coast. You know if you've clicked the right bit as your boat travels faster. When you have to combine items etc I found the old school interface a lot quicker but used the new look for skipping cutscenes. But it was a fantastic guide. Got the game maxed out yesterday. Awesome.

Tanelorn
Thanks for that guide, I was using another very poorly written guide and realized it took me too much time in the first part. I got to the Island with 2h10 of playtime. Thankfully, I could speed up a lot and finish under 3 hours.
XPL1C1T GAM3R
Have you completed the INSULT SWORDFIGHTING fight with CARLA yet? I'm stuck at: Click on VILLAGE. - "I'll go get a crew and a ship and go rescue her!" Walk to dock. Walk to cliffside. Walk to path When i go to the village i get no dialogue and don't know how to get to the docks. EDIT!! It was because I hadn't fought the swordmaster, so make sure you have learnt at least 12 insults and beaten 4 pirates to challenge her. (basically do what the guide says) Great guide Edited April 10, 2015 by XPL1C1T GAM3R
