JORDAN K 95
so, this website is great for Ellipses, i have made a few towers in my world, and i have used this website to get the perfect size for them. all you do it select the height and width of the object and your good to go. for 3D objects you can also select a 3D view, or view it in 2D, layer by layer. Here is the website: http://www.plotz.co.uk/plotz.php incase you do not want to use the website here is a pic of some ellipses http://i50.tinypic.com/2lj71c7.png the website also have blueprints for a wizard tower, an observatory globe, a piston mob grinder and a lightouse, you can also change the height and width of it so you know it will fit, and you can adjust it how you want it. http://www.plotz.co.uk/_gfx/minecraft-piston-mob-grinder.gifhttp://www.plotz.co.uk/_gfx/minecraft-piston-lighthouse.gifhttp://www.plotz.co.uk/_gfx/minecraft-wizard-tower.gif
Nitnoid
They look like circles to me. Ellipses are rather elongated circles, with two different radii. Just sayin'... ;-) But the site is quite useful.

DecadentBeaver
Cheers for that Jordan. I have been wanting to make a Mages Tower on my world, and now I can get cracking with it. Right after I finish my 4 projects I have on the go lol.
Nitnoid
Its okay. I'm not the geometry police. I haven't found a good ellipse generator yet so I'm actually working on a spreadsheet to calculate an ellipse and where to place the blocks. I want to place rings around my moon even though a circle, from a plane other than 90 degrees, looks like an ellipse.
kierons316
Nice find. I wonder if other things will be added to the list in the future. Btw, there's options that allow you to change the size of the eclipse to anything you want, i.e. x = 100, y =

DecadentBeaver
Well, using that site, I've managed to get the tower built, and just need a roof putting on. Started to decorate inside. I would have made a right mess without it. Anyone know if there are any blueprints for a stadium? A friend of mine has never built anything decent before and got Minecraft for easy gs, and insists he can build a stadium.

Haven't seen stadium blueprints, but, I'd imagine you could use plotz to build an oval, then quarter inverted domes on the ends, and just stair step the middles up to the level of the quarter domes. That would create your stadium "bowl" and you could do entrances and stuff afterwards. In theory anyway.
JORDAN K 95
about the stadium. i tried to build a gladiator areana in the shape of a stadium, so i used plotz, but an oval isnt exactly a stadium shape, so instead i made it circular (77x77) i suppose you could make an oval the size that you want it, and then make it look more stadium like. also post pics when you ware finished here is my gladiator arena: http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/s720x720/555591_4101411547576_928103281_n.jpg

Wasn't thinking earlier. I am now intrigued and since I don't have anything better to do, I might attempt this tonight. What I would do is determine the width & length of the stadium. Say, 120m x 50m. Find a circle on plotz for 50m and build half of that circle. Then, build straight lines out from there. Since the radius is 25m, you would build a straight line for 70m and then build another half circle to connect the two straight lines. After that, I would just stair step the pattern up to the height you want.
RDrules
a stadium would be best with a rectangle with rounded sides pick one of those circles from the side as a guide then cut it in 4, use them as the corners of the stadium then extend the long parts on the sides of the circle out as the sides of the stadium you do get oval and round stadiums but that is what think would end up looking most impressive in minecraft for the basic shape of it http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSLY3tSogOn5G0dnv-YUYEwN55TDRBQ4zc6MniiV3Q9tZL1Plda&t=1 like that see with the straight sides on all 4 but then the rounded corners
JORDAN K 95
i built a stadium in fortresscraft a while back, and im not going to lie, it was fucking amazing! i diddnt use any tools, but i built the shape like this, and it turned out pretty well http://i.imgur.com/C3E1C.png i built it up by 20 blocks or so, then did all sort of stuff for the roof. DecadentBeaver
Well I found the 3D layout for the wizards tower and was able to use that. But when trying to use plotz on my phone to make a circle I can't use it on my phone. Nothing to interact with. The circle is 38 block from the centre to the outside. I still need 2 more circles beyond that. I'm making an epic garden lol. The pic of the circles in a post earlier don't really help much as I can't see how many blocks are in each section. Any help would be very grateful. EDIT: Nevermind, I finally cracked the circle mmaking process. I found a website that even works on my mobile phone, and you get a graph that shows you exactly where you need to place your blocks. Helped me so much with my 75 wide circle. http://donatstudios.com/PixelCircleGenerator That is the website I used, I hope someone else finds this useful if, like me you're having issues. DecadentBeaver
Great reference. This is something that I have been wanting for a while! Glad its been of use to you Dervicious. I'm able to make circles no bother now with this. Or even ovals. Took some finding though I can assure you.
