sgt skellboy
Hey everyone! This is my first guide, and i hope it helps a lot of you out. I've noticed a distinct lack of Osmos achievement guides on the internet, so i thought i'd try it out. Please provide feeback, I am interested in making guides for other GFWL PC games that haven't got them, and any comments complaints will be addressed in these future guides. Thankyou, and i hope this helps! Happy Gaming Sgt Skellboy -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Osmos Achievement Guide by sgt skellboy Roadmap Overview Difficulty: 5/10 Offline Achievements: 11 (200G) Online Achievements: 0 Estimated time for 200: 5-10 Hours Number of playthroughs Needed: 1 Number of missable achievements: 0 Glitched Achievements: 1 Do cheat codes affect achievements? No Cheats Does Difficulty affect Achievements? No NOTE: You must have an active internet connection at all times to Save your game , and earn Achievements. Glitched Achievements: There is one achievement which has NO criteria for unlocking. It is shown as a secret achievements in the list, but it is unattainable. The developers have commented as seen on threads in the forum, but have no plans to change it. So for anybody looking to get 100% in Osmos, bad luck. (The unattainable achievement is worth 0g, so you can still get the full 200G.) Time: This is hard to gauge. The 200G takes monumental skill and/or luck. However, it IS possible with a little time and effort. A lot of persistence is required. A LOT. It will only take 1 or 2 hours to unlock all the levels, but it will take a whole lot longer to finish them. Conclusion: This game will get annoying. But if you see past the difficulty mountain, and the long levels, you will learn to love it. Edited May 6, 2010 by sgt skellboy
sgt skellboy
http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1291/-oia3g==.jpgDisciple of the Osmos (10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg ) Complete all tutorial zones. This will unlock once "Two intro levels", "Force Reception", "Artificial Life" and "Ambient Welcome" have been finished. These levels are intentionally easy, and serve as an introduction to all of the different styles of play in Osmos. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1291/-hFjEQ==.jpgVoyager (20 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg) Unlock all zones. This unlocks once all of the blacked-out zones are displayed. More specifically, once you finish "Force Ascension", "Ambient Tour" and "Survival of the Fittest". http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1291/-DBqpA==.jpgBlack Hole Sun (20 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg) Collapse the system in level F2-3 by feeding the Attractor. This is the only non-progress related achievement in the game, and is quite a challenge to obtain. You have to launch parts of yourself INTO the attractor. Once the attractor reaches a certain size, the rest of the system will start to spiral and collapse into the Attractor. However, you have to stay well out of the way of the gravitational pull. The achievement will unlock when most of the system (apart from you) has been sucked into the attractor. You can restart the level once the achievement has unlocked. You cannot win after a system collapse. If you miss out on this achievement, just select the F2O-3 level at the menu and try again. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1291/+ypxJw==.jpgPurity (20 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg) Complete all Ambient zones. You have to complete all fifteen levels in the Ambient Zone; -Ambient Welcome (2) -Ambient Tour (4) -Deep Ambient (3) -Ambient Impasse (3) -Antimatter (3) Once you have completed all 15 of these levels, the achievement will unlock. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1291/+sqJtA==.jpgGravitronics (20 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg) Complete all Force zones. You unlock the Forever levels by completing the game. (Finishing all tier 3 zones) You should take your time, plan ahead, and be sure to manage your mass very effectively. The rest will come down to luck. You must complete three levels in all three of the zones to unlock the last four achievements. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1291/s1.jpg<String text> (0 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg ) <String text> This achievement is unattainable. This is the official announcement "There isn’t actually a 12th achievement; Osmos only has 11. Sorry, but for some reason GFWL is showing a 12th, 0-point, secret “dummy” achievement. The full 200 points are spread across the existing 11 acheivement though, and we may add a few more in a title update down the line." There has been no more news on a possible fix or update. Achiever TM
looks good so far. Keep with the great work with future guides (GFWL) as you planned. hope they "fix" the secret achievement. developers could work in a patch that unlock it instantanily for any one. ChernobylCow
I really appreciate the attempt at making a guide for this niche game. However, the guide reads pretty much like "You have to beat the level to get the achievement." There really isn't much advice more than, "Good luck." You should discuss restarting to be presented with a random level, using minimal movements, zooming in zooming out. Any sort of strategy would be...nice. This game can be a real douchebag in the later levels so if anyone has any advice to add to the guide please do. I suck at this game. I feel like you need to be an astrophysicist to figure out the vorpal patterns in later levels. Hope my criticisms aren't too harsh. I just want a guide to help me! ivegotalobon
I like how you say it is etremely hard/down to luck but only give it a 5/10 difficulty
sgt skellboy
Hey guys, thanks for the feedback! @ChernobylCow You are absolutely right, in hindsight, I should have gone into more depth in specific levels, but do keep in mind this is an Achievement Guide, not a game guide. All I've done is elaborate on what has to be done to get an achievement. The only map that I thought it was necessary to go into more detail on was for the Black Hole achievement. If you do need more help on strategies for particular levels, you can go to the hemisphere games website, and look at the updates and FAQ section, where some of the harder levels have been examined closely. @ivegotalobon I actually put a lot of thought into the difficulty rating. Rating something like Osmos as 8 or 9 for achievement difficulty can't be justified, since different people are going to experience the game, and the progression at a completely different level. One person may breeze through, while another may never be able to finish it. Keeping in mind that the levels are in some cases Randomly Generated, there is no way to accurately depict their difficulty, thus, I gave it an average rating. SuperWoody64
Black Hole Sun achievement was cake. Some of the other levels are tough. The stupid nemocyte things cheat, they get more thrust from me and only spit out minimal mass. Meanwhile I'm popping out dime sized bubbles to even slow a little bit. Corrupt.
This guide/roadmap has been copied over to the Greenbook. This means that it is unfinished/unready to be published, and anybody is welcome to sign up to finish it off! Each guide will have a brief paragraph describing what is needed to get it done and published. If you can, please help us get this guide published to the site, and get your name eternally imprinted on the site! If you are the OP, this doesn't mean you can't finish it off on your own, do that and we will remove it from the Greenbook More information on Greenbook practices can be found in the Greenbook FAQ, here.
