Tyger7
Introduction There are various things to collect in Dishonored and collecting all 11 Sokolov Paintings will give you the achievement Art Dealer. You must be sure to grab all of them in one playthrough. The only way to find them is to spot them yourself or follow the below guide. There is no in-game help or hints. There are a lot of paintings in this game as well that you cannot collect. The ones you can pick up will be highlighted when you get near enough to grab it and prompt you to take it. Caution There is a missable painting which the last one on Mission 7: The Flooded District. You must have done a side objective for both Slackjaw and Granny whom are characters in the game that you can come across. Granny is found on Mission 2: High Overseer Campbell. Once you get to the street area to the right of the Wall of Light, she will be in the building in the far right corner. Talk to her and complete her objectives. Slackjaw is found on Mission 3: House of Pleasure. He is located in the Whiskey Distillery and is more "pointed out" to you than Granny was. Do his objectives as well. Once you do finally get to Mission 7, you will be escaping through some sewers and will be told by a thug laying against the wall about a situation between the two. This thug will only show up if you have met both Granny and Slackjaw. If you haven't he will not be there to give you the key that leads you to where the last painting is. Suggestion on Playthrough You should avoid collecting the paintings on the same playthrough you are attempting to go for Ghost and similar stealth based achievements (Low Threat Level). While it's still possible to grab this painting in Mission 7, it will be difficult and frustrating. It is my advice that you do this on a playthrough of High Chaos. Tyger7
Mission 1: Dishonored Paintings: 0 Mission 2: High Overseer Campbell Paintings: 1 Painting 1 This painting is in the main building you must sneak into. You have two options. You can get this by sneaking down some stairs into a basement that has a statue with a gem for an eye. Press the gem and you can go into Campbell's secret chambers where the painting is. If you are having a hard time finding this area, Campbell will go down there after poisoning or attempting to poison the other guy (so you can follow him and he is an objective marker). http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd355/tygrt7/dishonored%20paintings/Mission2Painting1.jpg Mission 3: House of Pleasure Paintings: 3 Required condition: All 3 of these are in the same building. You must have the Art Dealer's Key. You obtain this from a girl in the side streets after the Wall of Light (go left down some stairs and up a hill to an alley). Steal it, save her and it's a gift, or take it off her dead body. The apartment is next to the Whiskey Distillery where Slackjaw is. Slackjaw gives you a side mission to get a combination to a safe. Do this and before going to Slackjaw, go to the apartment. You can get the first 2 paintings, then use the combination to open a safe for the third one. Painting 2 On the second floor inside the Art Dealer's Apartment, it is showcased and there are 2 men talking about how it's not worth even taking off the wall. Wait until they split up, take them out, and grab it to discover it actually was. http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd355/tygrt7/dishonored%20paintings/Mission3Painting1-1.jpg Painting 3 On the third floor inside the Art Dealer's Apartment. Right as you come up the stairs, go right and you'll find a room. The painting is above the bed. http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd355/tygrt7/dishonored%20paintings/Mission3Painting2.jpg Painting 4 On the third floor inside the Art Dealer's Apartment. Open the safe with combination given to you by means of torture (Slackjaw's request). http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd355/tygrt7/dishonored%20paintings/Mission3Painting3.jpg Mission 4: The Royal Physician Paintings: 1 Painting 5 This is inside Solokov's House. After entering, go to the big room on the bottom floor. It is in the middle (paintings and stairs to the left). Grab the painting in the middle. http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd355/tygrt7/dishonored%20paintings/Mission4Painting1.jpg Mission 5: Lady Boyle's Last Party Paintings: 2 Alternate Locations: The second painting can vary on where it is, but seems to always be in one of the sister's rooms. Painting 6 After climbing up the stairs (after the indoor Wall of Light) and crossing to the other side, head into the next area. This will be noticed in the middle of a room with glass displays. You will pass this room going for the Sister's rooms. http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd355/tygrt7/dishonored%20paintings/Mission5Painting1.jpg Painting 7 This is in Esma's room which is the second purple room you should come to (after the glass displays). http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd355/tygrt7/dishonored%20paintings/Mission5Painting2.jpg Alternate Painting 7 This might be because of High Chaos, but if not in the original location try the 3rd room which has a black theme. http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd355/tygrt7/dishonored%20paintings/AlternatePainting.jpg Mission 6: Return to the Tower Paintings: 1 Painting 8 This is in the music room which is extremely hard to get to. A shortcut can be done, however. While in Regent's room, Blink under the fireplace to grab it (it's above the fireplace on opposite side). http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd355/tygrt7/dishonored%20paintings/Mission6Painting1.jpg Mission 7: The Flooded District Paintings: 3 Required Condition: To get the final painting, you must have done at least 1 side quest for both Granny and Slackjaw. If you do not, you will not have access to the area that contains the painting. This will void your chances of getting the achievement for collecting them all. You will have to play through again if this happens. Painting 9 Once you escape the building and jump into the water, swim towards the wooden planks to the left. You will climb up a chain. To the left is a roof that leads to Daud's base. Get on top of the roof and there is a higher roof to your left. It has a water tower on it. You must get a really good angle and Blink up from the vents. Once on top make sure the water below is to your left and go straight. Drop down and then get onto the balcony of the apartments. Inside is the painting along with a weeper. http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd355/tygrt7/dishonored%20paintings/Mission7Painting1.jpg Painting 10 After dealing with Daud, you will end up needing to climb down a chain that goes down several floors. While going down, look for the room that is still mostly intact. It's on the wall there. http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd355/tygrt7/dishonored%20paintings/Mission7Painting2.jpg Painting 11 This is the highly missable painting you have been warned about. After traveling the sewers, you will find a thug on the ground dying or struggling to survive. He will talk about Slackjaw and Granny Rags. After obtaining the key, go the new optional route given by your objective marker. Once you get to the end, you will find Granny Rags and Slackaw. Nearby there are steps leading to Granny's sleeping quarters. Go up there and it's above her bed. http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd355/tygrt7/dishonored%20paintings/Mission7Painting3.jpg Edited October 19, 2012 by Tyger7
Paraxade
Since I was able to help a couple people on GameFAQs with this, I just want to post and say even if you missed Granny Rags and Slackjaw, it's still possible to get the last painting without restarting the entire game. There's a glitch that allows you to go through walls that you can use to access Granny Rags's room even if the sewer gate is closed: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zY8wwEZAzhc]Dishonored: Glitching Through Walls - YouTube[/ame] From the video description: To do the glitch, go up to a perfectly vertical wall and stand in front of it with Blink equipped. Leaning can make the glitch a little easier (though it's not necessary). Now just spam crouch and Blink; eventually the game will let you blink and you'll clip a tiny bit into the wall. Switch to spamming jump and Blink. You'll need to move the cursor around until the game lets you blink again; this varies based on where you're doing it, but it's usually down somewhere. Repeat until you manage to edge over to the other side and clip most of the way back out, then you should be able to just blink back out; sometimes you can lean out of the wall and get out that way. Once you use this to get past the gate you can go to the room and get the painting like normal and nothing else prevents you from getting there and back. a hippyslayer
Just a heads up that in my playthrough in High Chaos I found Painting in Lydia Boyle's room, the one not outlined above. She was also my mark. Perhaps this is the defining factor.
Andii
Paintings seem to be in random places. I was following the full on stealth guide posted here, and one of his paintings he found was not in the place on my playthrough. I found it elsewhere. Hallowgraves
Just wanted to confirm you can glitch through the bars leading up to the final painting if you had not done the previous Granny Rags quests. Just done it myself and very happy I didn't have to make a fourth play through out of it.
FuzzMan3000
Has anyone done this with mission select? I got all the paintings from about mission 3 onwards, does this mean I can get the ones from the earlier missions and it will stop pop?

The Scollard
The location of the Lord Regents painting in Lady Boyle's last party is not random nor dependent on Chaos. From my experience, you are able to find the painting in the room of the Boyle you have to kill (the Lord Regent's ally). For example, if you have to kill Waverly, it will be in her room. It makes sense. The Boyle that is the Lord Regent's mistress is the one with the painting.
