Introduction:

Welcome to the remake of Alien Breed in episode form. This game is a shooter played from an oldschool isometric perspective. Overall the game is not really difficult, but it has one achievement which is buggy at the moment. However Team17 is working on a patch to fix that.

Step#1: Elite/Rookie Playthrough

First thing you want to do is chosing whether to play relaxed on Rookie and hopefully getting "Ain't got time to bleed" for finishing the last mission without using a Health Kit in the end or fight your way through Elite and redoing the last mission for the mentioned achievement. Either way you will receive most of the singleplayer achievements, just be careful with collecting the Logs as you have to start over if you miss one.

Step#2: Co-op

Find yourself a good buddy with whom you already played coop in other games or look here to find someone. Take your time and decide who loots as you can't trade items. If you want to pratice your skill in working together either start co-op mission 1 or 3. Mission 1 is quite easy, but you could try to get "Hard to Kill" on mission 3 during your first try. Even if someone goes down, you know the level and do better next time.

Step#3: Mop up

At this point you either have to replay singleplayer on Elite or try to get "Ain't got time to bleed" in Freeplay. If you missed logs, you have to replay the campaign as you can't collect them in freeplay, however you don't have to collect all of them again. You need only the ones you missed before. Secrets however are collectable in Freeplay.

Conclusion:

If you have some skill in shooters this will be quite an easy 200http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.jpg to achieve. The only downside here is the glitched achievement, which needs a workaround until it has been patched. If you have trouble unlocking achievements please check the guide.

Kill a total of 25 aliens in single player

As you will encounter ~1400 aliens in the whole game, you don't have to worry about getting this one.

Kill 50 aliens in a row without taking damage in single player

If you have trouble on Elite, just play Rookie and use your Assault Rifle. Everything you encounter dies after a short burst and you should get this easily during Mission 1.

Complete any single player level without using any items

I suggest you do this in mission 1 as it is by far the easiest mission with the least amount of aliens(~100). Don't use any health pack, grenades or sentry guns you find.

Kill 20 aliens within 30 seconds in single player

First chance to get this is in the first room of mission 2. A horde of small aliens assaults you, just kill them quickly. If you don't get it this time, don't worry. You will face large assaults in mission 4 and 5 several times.

Just fire a shot with every weapon and use every item. It does not matter if you hit anything.

The weapons are:

- Blaster

- Assault Rifle

- Shot cannon

- Flamethrower

- Laser Rifle

- Ion Spike

Items:

- Small Health Kit

- Large Health Kit

Collect all the logs throughout the game

There are 12 Logs in total, but if you check the logs you will see that you already had 2 from the start. So there are only 10 to collect. Note that if you miss one, you can't pick them up in Freeplay as they don't appear in this mode. However if you pick up the last one you missed in a new campaign, the achievement will unlock right away.

Mission 1

- Log 1: Just before you deactivate the Capacitor, you find this on the left side of the corridor.

- Log 2: After you survived the lockdown in the Generator room, advance toward the next Navpoint. You will run into a damaged door. Go left and you will find it in the small room next to some grenades and ammo.

- Log 3: Once you retrieved the clearance codes and opened the door to the next section, it is right in front of you.

Mission 2

- Log 4: You have to clear a room before the physician can advance. After you killed all aliens walk to the door leading towards the next room you have to clear. Go left into another room and you will find on the floor.

- Log 5: You have to clear a room with a pool of coolant in the middle. The log is in the upper left corner if you have to door you entered from in your back.

- Log 6: After clearing the 3rd room, you enter a large room with Sentry Guns. Follow the Physician and you will find a log where he stops.

- Log 7: Go back into the Sentry Gun room and face the door to the Save room. Go to the right into the room next to it to collect the next log.

- Log 8: After rescuing the Crew Members from suffocating cause of Halon, you have to acquire explosives. To get there you enter a room through a window. Walk a bit forward and to the right and you find it there. After you collect the log continue through the next windows to reach the room with the explosives.

Mission 3

No log to collect

Mission 4

- Log 9: From the elevator go straight until you reach a T-intersection, there go into the room to right and you find it next to a corpse.

Mission 5

- Log 10: On your way to the 2nd Turbine, you enter a dark room which gets locked while you are ambushed. You have to open the doors by using a control panel. Just before this Panel is the last log located.

Complete single player levels 1-5 on Elite difficulty

Here is a short list about your friends and enemies in Alien Breed as well as general Information how to play on Elite at the end.

Doors:

Yes simple doors are one of your best friends. If you face a large group retreat and wait for them to pass and you have a high chance of killing aliens with one shot from the shot cannon if you wait around the corner of the door. Ranged attacks won't hit you if the door is closed so use them to your advantage.

Frag Grenades:

A real underrated item. You can control the throwing distance by holding :ltbut:. If you throw it short be prepared that you are also damaged. If you are in a narrow corridor and a horde advances throw a Frag and watch the firework and several aliens are eliminated as well.

Sentry Guns:

They can only be placed in specific spots in mission 1,2 and 3. Once active they kill everything alien around them. Be careful as friendly fire damages you, but if you want to conserve ammo it is good to retreat and let the Guns do the work, while you are watching. However once you enter mission 5 destroy every sentry gun you see, because once the turbines are activated you are the primary target for the guns.

Blaster:

You have infinite ammo for this weapon, so if you encounter larvas switch weapons to conserve ammo. Also if you have to destroy Gas tanks or sentry guns use the Blaster.

Assault Rifle:

Don't try and act like Jon Wayne and go triggerhappy. Fire controlled short burst to conserve ammo and use it as main weapon with long corridors or rooms which are larger.

Shot Cannon:

On Rookie you can kill everything except the Moss Creature with one hit, on Elite you need to be quite close and aim carefully. Best used in small rooms or ambushing aliens behind doors.

Flamethrower:

Short range but quite devastating. However if several aliens are on the same tile and you hit them with the flamethrower it seems, that you don't hit all at the same time.

Laser Rifle:

A great weapon but you only find ~1000rounds in the entire game. Shots bounce off walls and deal great damage compared to the Assault Rifle. If you run into a large ambush in mission 5, this weapon is a good choice.

Ionspike:

You fire a linear shot which kills everything in its path. Due to low firerate this weapon may be handy, but other weapons are preferred.

and here are your enemies:

Fire:

It really hurts to walk through flames and you suffer damage for about 3-4seconds after you've been ignited.

Larvas:

Small, quite fast over distance and if they explode near you it hurts. You can prevent them of exploding if they get in your torchlight. But be quick to kill them. They are only dangerous if they are mixed in large assaults and rush in from behind. Even if they have not much health.

Mauler:

Standard enemy, which is brown. They have a distinctive sound as they walk towards you and only can attack if they can reach you. They can take several hits with the Assault Rifle and 1-2 from the Shot Cannon.

Screamer:

The first variant of the Mauler you will frequently encounter in mission 2 and afterwards. They are green and unleash a distinctive howl/roaring before they charge you or where you've stood as they roared. Can be dangerous in dark rooms as you can't see which type it is and the distance they can leap is quite large. However you can interrupt them if you hit them with a weapon. Assault Rifle preferred for long-medium distances and shot cannon if you can lure them to a corner or door.

Ranged:

The last variant of the Mauler. They are grey/black with red parts. They spit acid spikes which are really damaging. It is recommended to take them out first if you have a clear line of sight. Once you have to fend of melee attackers you won't have the time to foresee the shots and dodge them accordingly. Lure them to a door and kill them with a clean hit from the shot cannon.

Healer:

They look different with 4 solid legs and a quite flat body with a glowing abdomen. If you let them they heal the other aliens, but can also attack with claws. Fortunately they can't take much damage and are a high priority target.

Boney Shield:

A variant of the healer which can deploy the front legs/arms as a shield which can't be penetrated by bullets. In general they are not really dangerous but annoying as they can block your movement and bullets meant for the other aliens. Frag Grenades are great to deal with them once they play turtle.

Stunner: They appear the first time in Mission 3. They are not really dangerous, but can stun you, so that you are really vulnerable for a few seconds. Use a shotgun or flamethrower to kill them quickly.

Charger: A larger version of a Mauler and the first "boss" in the game. Just run away as told and clear the rooms after entering the doors and finally it will die in a cutscene.

Moss Creature:

The final "boss" in this game. First it will spawn larvas, then stun you. Once you recover brown liquid will spread over the floor so look for a spot which won't be covered and wait until the rest explodes. Now dodge the green spikes it shoots and once the head rests on the ground use your shot cannon to deal damage. Repeat this 5-6 times and you are done.

General Information:

While exploring new areas the first time, proceed slowly and don't panic if you trigger the ambushes. During the first missions you should move back and shoot controlled bursts. Sometimes ammo can a bit low, but as a general rule before you fight large waves of enemies you find enough ammo.

If you reach an intersection always sidetrack and explore the areas you don't have to go yet. Often you find ammo or health kits and you can kill a part of the aliens you would have to face with additional groups once you have to actually to do something there.

Be careful before you activate switches or loot lockers/corpses. The aliens are triggered by stepping on areas and are timebased. Example: you have to deactivate the Capacitor. You are standing next to the control panel. ~3seconds after you reached the panel, two aliens will break through the wall behind you. It doesn't matter if you activated the panel or not. Take your time and wait if something tries to ambush you if you have to use a control panel to advance.

Get used to the different weapons, how long you need to reload and how often to press :dleft: and :dright: to get the weapon you want. After you finished a fight reload the weapons you used as it as annoying and painful e.g. to reload the shotgun with 5 Maulers around you.

will be updated once I'm home and can see the Name's of the different aliens.

Complete 'Interface' single player mission without using a health pack

Nearly impossible on Elite. Start Free play and set difficulty to Rookie. Be really cautious and keep in mind that you can't save in freeplay. If you did beat the campaign on Elite before, you should delete your savegame. Create a new one or start a new one on a memory card and enter the mission via Freeplay as the achievement is currently glitched. You can pick up as many Health Kits as you want, just don't use them. Starting a new game on rookie with an existing savegame DOES NOT unlock the achievement.

Complete "Hydroponics" in Co-op Assault

This is the 3rd mission you can do in co-op. Just survive and you unlock this one. How to work as team see "Hard to Kill" for more information.

Complete CO-OP Assault level 1, 2 or 3 without either player dying

I recommend you choose a friend who can play coop, meaning he/she doesn't rushes like a berserker obsessed with getting the highest kill count. You will face large waves of aliens at a time and you have to conserve ammo. Talk who should loot the corpses, as you can't give health packs or ammo to the other player. Walk slowly and keep close so that you can protect each other.

wow nearly complete. Just need the correct alien's names and i submit it :)

I keep wanting to try Ain't Got Time to Bleed, but I just don't want to waste my time if it's going to get all glitchy on me... I really hope it's fixed, cuz I have my eye on that one. Expert is going to take a bit of time too, seeing as it took me the better part of two days to complete this normally and get the rest of the single player achievements.
