Introduction

Metal… Gear?

Welcome to the universe of Metal Gear Solid. In this HD collection, you’ll get not 1, but 5 canon MGS games in one package. Metal Gear 1, originally for the MSX; Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, also for the MSX. Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance, originally for the PS2 (remade in HD); Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, originally for the PS2 (remade in HD) and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, originally for the PSP (remade in HD). The two MSX games have no achievements attached to them, but they’re really fun even for today’s standards (considering they’re already 24 years old, that’s saying a lot), and playing them is a good way to know the consequences of the events of MGS Peace Walker (which is actually a prequel).

It is highly recommended that you have played MGS1 before starting MGS2. That’s because MGS2’s story depends heavily not only on knowing the events of the first game, but also playing it. MGS1 and MGS2 are heavily connected, both as stories and as games. Without previous knowledge of everything that happened in MGS1, the whole justification for the Plant chapter of MGS2 makes no sense at all. MGS1 is available for the PC, PS1 and there’s also the Gamecube remake called “The Twin Snakes”. If you really have no way of finding a copy, you should at least try to watch a full playthrough on youtube.

MGS3, on the other hand, is more standalone (it’s actually a prequel, the first game in the official timeline). There are some references to both MGS1 and MGS2, but if you have never played any MGS game before, you can still understand the plot without missing much. Peace Walker is a direct sequel to MGS3, so you only need to beat MGS3 in order to understand it.

When it comes to achievements, MGS2 and MGS3 share a 1000:gsicon: list, while Peace Walker has another 1000:gsicon:. In this roadmap, I will address only the MGS2+MGS3 achievements.

It’s important to note that this list can be very time consuming. Not only that, but some achievements are very difficult as well. MGS2 will give you the most trouble, as you need to finish the game on every difficulty except European Extreme while trying to collect all the Dog Tags. The game can be very hard in later difficulties, especially when it comes to the Boss Battles. MGS3 doesn’t require a lot of playthroughs and can be played on Very Easy, but there are a lot of collectibles involved, and you need to finish the game without killing anyone, not even bosses.

All in all, I’d recommend you to start by playing all the games without worrying for achievements, enjoying the story and experimenting with gameplay. On your second playthrough of each game, you should skip cutscenes and codec conversation, while trying to get any missable achievement you didn’t get on your first playthrough. For MGS2, you’ll be doing a lot of playthroughs, so don’t ruin your first one worrying too much about missables. Skipping cutscenes and knowing where to go and what to do, the games can be finished very quickly, so again there’s no reason to ruin your first playthrough worrying too much about achievements.

IMPORTANT NOTE: At any time during gameplay, you can press and hold :rbbut: :lbbut::ltbut::rtbut::start::back: simultaneously to restart the game. You'll lose any unsaved progress. Use this when you mess up something that is missable.

Step 1: MGS2: Finish Tanker+Plant on any difficulty level

You'll get most of the MGS2 achievements during this playthrough. If you're already familiar with the game, you should start trying to get dog tags right away. If not, just play and beat the game normally. Take note that there are a lot of simple achievements to get in the Tanker Chapter during the commander’s speech. Also, don't miss your opportunity for the Johnny on the Spot achievement during the Plant chapter. Don't worry too much about missables now, because you'll be doing a lot of playthroughs to get all the Dog Tags anyway. Just enjoy the game. After beating the game, you should have all the story related achievements, as well as A Cut Above. You will also unlock Boss Survival Mode, Extreme and European Extreme difficulties.

Step 2: MGS2: Finish Boss Survival and Snake Tales

Easy step. Just finish Boss Survival and Snake Tales extra modes. This shouldn't take you long. After that, you'll have No Boss of Mine. and Tell me a Tale.

Step 3: MGS2: Dog Tag Hunting

This is the hardest step in the whole list and will take a long time. You'll have to finish the game once in every difficulty, while getting dog tags. Save in different slots (in case you miss soldiers), skip cutscenes and be sneaky. It's better to start on Very Easy and slowly go all the way up to Extreme, because midway you'll start unlocking special items such as the Stealth Camo, which will make your life much easier on higher difficulty levels, especially when it comes to getting dog tags. Try to clean up any missable achievement you still didn't get during those playthroughs. Keep in mind that Extreme difficulty is no easy task. Some bosses like the Harrier are living nightmares, so don’t think this step is just a matter of time and grind like most collectible achievements, it also takes skill and effort. At the end of this step, you'll earn the Great Dane achievement.

Step 4: MGS2: VR Missions and Alternative Missions

Now that you finished the game multiple times on all difficulty levels, you're ready for VR Missions and Alternative Missions. Don’t worry about scores, just try to clear the missions. You unlock new characters and new missions for these characters as you clear a certain percentage with characters you already have. Anyway, you need to get 100% completion. This means beating everything with everyone. Assuming you already finished the game on Extreme, this step should be doable, although it will require you to master every single gameplay mechanic, from sneaking to shooting and even using the sword with Raiden. By completing all missions, you'll get Piece of Cake and Virtually Impossible.

Step 5: MGS3: finish the game on any difficulty level while shooting all Kerotans, getting all the collectibles and not killing any guard or boss

MGS3 achievements are way easier and faster to get. You can play the game on Very Easy and still get everything. On Very Easy, you have the EZ Gun, which has infinite ammo and can stun enemies. This helps you a lot on the task of getting the PEACE WALKER achievement, as you can’t kill anyone for this achievement (you can use the Mk22 pistol alternatively). Bosses have stamina bars below their life bars. You have to beat them by depleting their stamina instead of their life.

Also, there is a number of collectible-like achievements that you can get on one playthrough. You must get all of the food and medicinal items for the King of the Jungle achievement. You must shoot all the Kerotans (little green frogs scattered throughout the game, there’s one on each area, they will keep repeating a funny sound when you shoot them) for the Ain’t Easy Being Green achievement. You must also get all the Face Paints and Camouflages in the game for the Fashionista and Only Skin Deep achievements.

There are two achievements that you normally cant’t get in the same playthrough at which you’re going for the PEACE WALKER achievement, which are The Early End and Problem Solved, Series Over. Both require you to kill certain characters. In order to avoid another playthrough, you can save before you face these characters for the first time, kill them to get the achievements and load your save to continue working towards the PEACE WALKER achievement. Also, there are a lot of miscellaneous missable achievements that need note, like Believe It or Not and Snake Eyes. These are extremely easy to miss if you’re not looking for them.

You can follow this MGS3 collectible guide to help keep track of every missable, in case you want to get them all in one playthrough: Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater HD Comprehensive Collectible Guide by duck360; edited by tehapoc.

Step 6: MGS3: clean up

Use this step to clean up any remaining MGS3 achievement. Keep in mind that you won’t have all the Camouflages and Face Paints until you finish the game for the first time. Only then you will be rewarded with a generous number of special Face Paints and Camouflages, which will complete your collection if you got all the other ones during your first playthrough.

Conclusion

As you have seen, MGS Collection HD is definitely not an easy 1000:gsicon:. However, all the games are extremely good and shouldn’t be played just for achievements. If you’re not a completionist, you can get a lot of story-related achievements just by finishing both games once, while also getting easy achievements related to easter eggs (which are plentiful and not always hard to find without any guide). If you’re going for the 1000:gsicon:, it’s important to keep track of all the collectibles needed (Dog Tags in MGS2, Face Paints, Camouflages, Food and Kerotans in MGS3) and where can you get them. The parts that will require the most effort are getting the Extreme Dog Tags on MGS2 and finishing all VR Missions and Alternative Missions. MGS3 achievements are way easier if you know what you’re doing.

ACHIEVEMENT GUIDE

* All videos are a courtesy of gcrock. They were recorded using the PS3 version of the game, but the same rules apply to the Xbox 360 version.

Disorient an enemy with a cloud of smoke from a fire extinguisher

MGS2 achievement. You can do this really quickly by playing the Tanker chapter. Just find a Fire Extinguisher in one of the corridors (there are plenty of them) and shoot when an enemy is nearby.

Send Otacon a picture of the marine with no pants

MGS2 achievement. This can only be done at the end of the Tanker chapter. When the captain is giving his speech, sneak past the soldiers and try to look at them from a safe position. You should spot some soldiers wearing just boxer shorts. Equip your camera and take a picture of one of them. When you reach the terminal at which you can upload the Metal Gear Ray photos to Otacon, he'll comment about the photo and you'll earn your achievement.

Alternatively, on every pair number of Tanker playthroughs (2nd playthrough, 4th playthrough), all guards on Hold 3 appear in their underwears. Take a photo of them and upload it to Otacon in the terminal.

You must align the camera properly to make it work. You'll know it worked the moment you take the picture, because Snake will comment something. Try taking pics from different positions until Snake mutters something to himself.

Tranquilize 100 enemies

MGS2 achievement. Just shoot everyone you see with your tranquilizer M9 pistol. It's the best way to proceed in the game, anyway. Tranquilized enemies are identified by flying “Zzz” over their heads.

Break the neck of 30 enemies

MGS2 achievement. To break an enemy’s neck, first you need to grab him. Unequip any weapons you’re using and approach him from behind. Stop when you get right next to his back (let go of the left analog stick) and immediately mash the shoot button. The soldier will make a noise every time you press it. Keep mashing until you break his neck. If you don't let go of the left analog stick before pressing the shoot button, your character will throw the enemy to the ground, and probably trigger an alert when he gets back up. A good way to stop the enemy is by first holding him up (pointing a gun to his back when really close) and then breaking his neck. Do this to 30 soldiers and the achievement is yours.

Beat 30 enemies unconscious

MGS2 achievement. To beat an enemy unconscious, you have to use punch punch kick combos and throws. To do a punch punch kick combo, unequip your weapon and press the melee button three times in fast succession. To throw, unequip your weapon and press the shoot button while holding the left analog stick to any direction. A clean way to beat someone unconscious without knocking him down to the ground multiple times is by punching a lot of times without doing the kick. You can do this by pressing the melee button successively, but not too quickly. If you get the timing right, the enemy will be knocked out after a few punches. Unconscious enemies are identified by flying stars over their heads. Do this to 30 soldiers and the achievement is yours.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2099/-ai59A==.jpgJohnny on the Spot 10:gsicon:

Hear Johnny's bowel noises in two locations

MGS2 achievement. Johnny is the soldier who is beat up by Meryl in MGS1. You can only hear him by using the Directional Microphone in two different moments during the Plant chapter. The first time happens when you find Ames among the hostages. Ocelot and Solidus will start talking in the room next to you, and Raiden will automatically use the Directional Microphone to hear them. You can control the Microphone during their conversation. Just point it to the bathroom door in the corner and you can hear his monologue. The second moment is when you're using the PSG1 sniper rifle to cover Ema, when she's crossing the Oil Fences. When she gets to the second strut and goes out of your view, equip the Directional Microphone and point it in her direction so you can hear Johnny talking to her.

Kiss a poster in a locker

MGS2 achievement. When you find a locker with a poster on it, get into it, then press the First Person View button. You'll hear a kissing sound. There are a lot of lockers with posters on it in the game. A quick place to look for is in Deck A crew's quarter, Tanker Chapter.

Get caught by Otacon stimulating yourself

MGS2 achievement. During the Tanker Chapter, go to Deck A's locker room and find the sexy poster in one of the lockers. Use First Person View while OUTSIDE the locker (the locker's door must be open) and look at the poster until Snake gets excited. Immediately call Otacon to trigger a funny conversation and get the achievement.

MGS2 achievement. Story related. Cannot be missed. You'll get this on Hold 3, after taking the pictures.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2099/-DddgA==.jpgSteel Grip 10:gsicon:

Attain grip level 3

MGS2 achievement. To get this, you need to do 200 pull-ups while in hanging mode. 100 pull-ups will get you to level 2 and 100 more to level 3. To execute a pull-up, enter First Person View mode and press/hold the item and weapon selection buttons while hanging. Watch for your grip gauge so you don't fall. The pull-ups don't need to be consecutive; you can climb back up and hang again if your grip gauge gets dangerously low.

To make sure you're doing the pull-ups right, you have to hold the buttons until your character does a complete motion. Just tapping or letting go of the buttons too early will trigger an incomplete motion and doesn't count as a pull-up. When you level up, your grip gauge will indicate it by changing colors and the title (Grip Lv. 2 instead of 1 etc)

Another way to quickly grip level up is by dropping from a higher ledge and quickly hanging in a lower one. A good place to do this is when you first enter the Holds (the first area where you can hear Scott Dolph's speech). Instead of taking the ladder down, hang from the ledge, drop and press the hang button again during the fall immediately when you reach the lower ledge. Snake should grab it and lose a great amount of grip. It will count as doing 10 pull-ups. Just be careful not to fall, or you'll die.

Complete Boss Survival

MGS2 achievement. To get this one, you need to first unlock the Boss Survival Mode. Do this by achieving the requirements of the A Cut Above achievement, which means beating the full game (Tanker + Plant). After that, just beat all of the bosses in Boss Survival Mode with either Raiden or Snake in any difficulty level to get the achievement.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2099/UPjK8Zw=.jpgTell Me a Tale 30:gsicon:

Complete all Snake Tales

MGS2 achievement. Snake Tales are like non-canonical "what if" scenarios, where you play mainly as Snake. They're available in the menu from the start. Just beat all of them and you get your achievement. This shouldn't be too difficult, and they're all fairly short.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2099/UPrr+Ck=.jpgGreat Dane 80:gsicon:

Collect all dog tags

MGS2 achievement. This is the hardest and most time consuming achievement in the game. To do this, you need to collect dog tags by holding soldiers up (point a gun to their backs when really close). When they’re held up, go in front of them and point the gun to them while in their sight. Most soldiers will then start shaking and drop a Dog Tag. Some will play tough guy and refuse to shake, so you gotta shoot their hand or feet to intimidate them before they will drop their dog tags. You can also point heavy guns like Rocket Launchers for instant intimidation. Each soldier will drop one dog tag, and every soldier has an unique dog tag. Backup soldiers that come when you do things that are suspect don't count. You must not kill soldiers before you get their tags, and some of them are missable.

It gets worse... different difficulties have different dog tags. This means you must hunt Dog Tags from soldiers in pretty much every Difficulty Level (European Extreme doesn't count as a different difficulty for Dog Tag purposes, it's the same as Extreme) to get this achievement. Also note that different difficulties have different number of soldiers, so there are different numbers of dog tags to get as well. Try to focus on locating soldiers and always holding them up when you can. There are 152 Dog Tags in the Tanker Chapter and 242 in the Plant Chapter, for a total of 394 Dog Tags among all difficulties.

However, there's a trick to how this achievement works. You don't really have to collect ALL dog tags like the description says. You only have to get every reward item. Getting 76 tags on the Tanker chapter and 218 on the Plant chapter will do the job. You still need to finish the game when you reach the minimum amount of tags to receive the item, though (it's only awarded at the end of the game).

Complete all VR and Alternative missions

MGS2 achievement. This achievement can be quite hard and time consuming. The VR and Alternative Missions will explore each MGS2 gameplay mechanic way deeper than the story mode does. Just take your time; If you're stuck in one of them, go to another type and come back later. Some of them can be frustrating, but for the most part they're doable with a few tries. It's recommended to do this after you finish everything else, so you'll be more familiar with the game.

CQC Hold up an enemy

MGS3 achievement. To Hold up an enemy, get right next to his back and point your weapon on first person view. Snake should say “Freeze!”. After that, with your weapon still pointed, move in front of him and aim it to his head or crotch until he starts shaking his hips.

CQC Slit an enemy's throat

MGS3 achievement. To slit an enemy’s throat, first you have to grab him. Do it by standing right next to the enemy and holding the CQC button while not moving the left analog stick to any direction (neutral). After he’s in your grasp, press :ybut: to slit his throat.

See all of the first-person views that are not indicated by the RB button icon

MGS3 achievement. There are several cutscenes in the game that have moments at which you can hold :rbbut: to switch to first person perspective. Most will indicate it with an :rbbut: icon, but some are hidden. You CAN'T get this in the Demo Theather. You have to watch them during the story mode. If you keep holding :rbbut: throughout all of the game's cutscenes, you'll catch all of the hidden scenes. If you don't want to, take note of the hidden moments:

- When Ocelot leaves in the cutscene where Volgin beats Granin to death, hold :rbbut: to see Tanya doing the secret hand gesture.

- When Ocelot leaves in the cutscene where you're tortured, hold :rbbut: to see The Boss doing the secret hand gesture.

- After the second Shagohod boss battle, right before Eva hugs Snake, you can hold :rbbut: to see The Sorrow.

- When The Boss' horse comes after you defeat her, hold :rbbut:.

- At the ending, when Snake shakes hands with the president, hold :rbbut:.

- When Snake is saluting The Boss's grave, hold :rbbut:.

Achieve a camouflage index of 100%

MGS3 achievement. To get a 100% camo index, you need the Moss Camo which is dropped by The End. During the boss battle against him, you need to track him down and hold him up (point the gun to his back before he sees you). When he’s held up, he will resist a little bit before dropping the Moss Camo. Grab the camo, finish him off and equip the it right away. It can get you up to 100% camouflage index if you also equip the leaf Face Paint and go prone on a dark green terrain.

Catch a Tsuchinoko (mythical serpent)

MGS3 achievement. The Tsuchinoko is a rare animal that can only be captured by using mousetraps. He can be found in a lot of different areas (people usually try it on the area where you fight The Fear after you beat him), but it’s really random and it might take a while. Making sure every animal in the area is either dead or captured ensures a better chance of capturing the Tsuchinoko. Don’t eat it or kill it. If you manage to have it on your inventory when you finish the game, you get the Infinity Face Paint, which gives you infinite ammo and is necessary for the Only Skin Deep achievement. Also keep in mind that you have to recapture the Tsuchinoko after you escape from prison. You’ll find it in Thikogornyj after the cutscene with Eva behind the waterfall, and you need to tranquilize it again if you want the Infinity Face Paint.

This video will aid you on your quest to find the elusive animal:

Find every type of camouflage

MGS3 achievement. There are a lot of camouflages in the game. You start with some of them, others can be found as items in the game, and others are rewarded to you for achieving certain conditions.

- Chocolate Chip Camo: Found in Bolshaya Past South.

- Ga-Ko Camo: Found in Chyornyj Prud. Go northeast, the camo is underwater.

- Rain Drop Camo: Found in Dremuchij North. It's under the wooden bridge.

- Snow Camo: Found in Peschera Cave. Turn right before facing The Pain.

- Splitter Camo: Found in Bolshaya Past South.

- Water Camo: Found in Bolshaya Past Base.

- Fly Camo: Found in the building where you look for Granin. Go to the bathroom on the 2nd floor and break down the third stall door.

- Spirit Camo: When facing The Sorrow, go all the way through the river until you can touch him. You will die. Use the revival pill. The Spirit Camo will be on your inventory when you wake up.

- Maintenance Uniform : Found in Groznyj Grad Weapons Lab: East Wing. You can only get this by returning there after the torture scene.

- Officer Uniform: This is Raikov's uniform. Steal it from him as a disguise. IMPORTANT: This uniform doesn't carry over to New Game+ playthroughs. If you miss any camo on your first playthrough, you'll have to both get the one you missed and this one again in order to get the achievement. This Uniform is only available fairly late in the game, so if you don't want to play until then again just for this uniform, don't miss anything.

- Sneaking Suit: Found in Groznyj Grad Weapons Lab: East Wing. In one of the lockers. You can only get this by returning there after the torture scene.

- Cold War: Defeat Volgin by non-lethal means.

- Fire Camo: Defeat The Fury by non-lethal means.

- Hornet Stripe Camo: Defeat The Pain by non-lethal means.

- Moss Camo: Hold up The End and keep aiming at him until he drops it. See the A Good Man is Hard to Find achievement for more insight on how to get it.

- Spider Camo: Defeat The Fear by non-lethal means.

- Snake Camo: Defeat The Boss by non-lethal means.

- Animals Camo: Defeat Ocelot by non-lethal means.

Other camouflages are either on your starting gear, given to you during your playthrough or given as rewards when you finish the game for the first time. You can get the ones given as rewards early if you choose "I like MGS3" when starting a New Game.

Find every type of face paint

MGS3 achievement. Face paints, just as the Camouflages, are hidden throughout the game, or rewarded to the player for certain actions.

- Infinity Face Paint: Catch a living Tsuchinoko. Check the Believe It or Not achievement for more info on how to do it. Keep it alive until you finish the game. You will receive the Infinity Face Paint for your next playthrough, which grants infinite ammo.

- Zombie Face Paint: Found in Rassvet during Operation Snake Eater, behind the building.

- Desert Face Paint: Found in Ponizovje Warehouse.

- Oyama Face Paint: Found in Graniny Gorky Lab, Exterior. Check the air duct.

- Water Face Paint: Found in Ponizovje South. Backtrack to this area after you defeat The Fear.

- Snow Face Paint: Found in Bolshaya Past Base. Check the fox hole to the left of the central building.

- Kabuki Face Paint: Found in Tikhogornyj. Before the waterfall, can be found at the bottom of the pool.

All other Face Paints are either present on your starting gear, or earned by beating the game (or choosing "I Like MGS3" when you start a New Game).

Kill The End before the boss battle

MGS3 achievement. Save before attempting this if you’re going for the PEACE WALKER achievement. When you reach Ponizovje Warehouse (exterior), you’ll watch a cutscene that features The Fear and The End (an Old man in an wheelchair). Use your SVD to snipe The End really quickly. If you manage to shoot him enough times before he gets away, he will explode, and the wheel of his wheelchair will fly in your direction. If you fail, just load your save and try again. After you get the achievement, remember to load your old save so it doesn’t count as a kill (only if you’re trying to get PEACE WALKER and the Moss Camo).

Obtain title of MARKHOR

MGS3 achievement. To obtain the title of Markhor, you need to get every food and medicinal item and finish the game. There is a total of 48 food/medicinal items you need to get in order to receive the Markhor title. Just kill every animal you can and get the item they drop. You may eat all of them as well if you want to. The game keeps track of everything you ate in a history, which you can access through the cure menu (history -> food history).

Important to keep in note: you can only carry 3 tranquilized animals, so if you get an enemy tranquilized in order to capture it but already have 3 on your inventory, you'll have to discard or eat one of your captured animals. Be careful not to eat the Tsuchinoko if you got it.

Also, when you get to Svytagornyj South, you'll notice EVERY medicinal plant is there. However, you may have a full inventory of medicinal items already, beucase there's plenty of them around (and the plants occupy the same space as normal medicinal items). If this happens, you won't be able to get the plants, and there's no way to discard medicinal items. A good way to fix this is by going back one area, getting an alert and letting the guards shoot you until you have something to heal on the Survival Viewer. Then, before actually healing it, waste items that have nothing to do with the wound (in order to free space on your inventory). You only have to use one of each of the following to free space: C Med, Splint, Disinfectant, and Styptic. After this, just get one of each plant and you're good to go.

For information on every food and medicinal items, visit this thread at our sister site http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/metal-gear-solid-3-snake-eater-hd/133938-markhor-guide.html (Thanks to ZOLANTON for the guide)

Find all 64 Kerotans

MGS3 achievement. Every area in the game has a hidden Kerotan. You need to find all of them and shoot them. They will make a funny noise when you hit them. Do this to all 64 of them and you’ll get your achievement. Some of them are missable, so if you ever feel like you've passed an area you won't be able to return to and didn't find the Kerotan, don't overwrite your save. Load your last save and try to find the Kerotan. This applies to the bike chase near the ending, for example.

Kerotan shooting is cumulative, so if you miss any on your first playthrough, you can shoot it on your second playthrough and still get the achievement. Just take note of the ones you missed, because the game doesn't provide a way to keep track of this.

For videos of every Kerotan, see this thread: http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=341315

Finish the game on any difficulty

MGS3 achievement. Story related. Just finish the game on any difficulty level to get it.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2099/UPn1044=.jpgPEACE WALKER 30:gsicon:

Finish game without killing anyone

MGS3 achievement. This can be a little bit frustrating. In order to get this achievement, you must not kill any character in the game. Bosses can only be defeated non-lethally (although they will still die in the cutscene). The Mk22 tranquilizer pistol and EZ Gun are your best friends. A good moment to know if you’ve killed someone by accident is when you reach The Sorrow’s river. Dead enemies will appear to haunt you. If you didn’t kill anyone, only the bosses should be there (even if you only stamina killed them). When you finish the game, you get a result screen which will show how many enemies you’ve killed. If you don’t get the achievement, this screen is a good way to know how many times you have messed up. Save a lot and every time you think you might have killed someone by accident, load your old save.

Animals don't count as kills. Eva killing enemies don't count as a kill for you. Shooting an exploding barrel with lethal victims oddly doesn't count as a kill. Leaving poisoned food for hungry enemies to eat also doesn't count as a kill.

Making an enemy fall into the water and drown counts as a kill. So does if he falls from a high place and dies from the fall. Also if you make them get electrocuted in on of the fences.

That's it, I guess. Finished the layout adjustment. I hope that's enough for you guys to suck the gamescore out of these games. Hope you enjoy it, and I really appreciate your feedback on this!

Played MGS2 about 40 times, Virtually Impossible is just that. I was very, very good at MGS2 and I got to about 85% and got stuck.

MGS3 I 100%'d so it won't be an issue. I'm glad I don't have to do Foxhound AGAIN, though.

Being a diehard this will be a easy 900, the full 1000 will be a bitch though. This is tough? Go check out the PW achievements. S rank on everything?! Jeezy Creezy.

Wow you really rush into this don't you. Let's hope you'll put all your experience in this guide. Definitely have to work on your LAYOUT other than that keep up the good work.

Hahaha thank you. Yeah, I tried to make is as fast as I can before someone else did, but I also think the content is really complete. It took more effort than I originally imagined. It's still a work in progress, I'm still working on the layout, but this part is easier.

Actually haven't looked at the PW list as I haven't even played it yet. I have had it on PSP for absolutely ages but never got around to it.

I'm finally done with the layout adjustments. Making these things is really draining, I didn't expect so much trouble. Anyway, if there's anything that sounds or looks wrong or strange in the guide, please post, it's hard to keep track of everything alone.

Thank you all and enjoy!

Being the Metal Gear freak that I am, even I must say that this guide is well done! ;) Getting all of the dog tags isn't really that hard. It just takes some patience if you're new to the game! Getting Big Boss was awesome, but I must say that I love Kojima's choice of achievements (I thought they would look like: 100 for getting Big Boss, and 100 for getting Foxhound on MGS3, so on and so forth, you know?)! Considering that I still play these games, it shouldn't take me too long to get the Platinum and 1000G for this and Peace Walker! :)

S ranking everything in Peace Walker really isn't tough. I only had maybe 10 easy missions left to S rank and the only reason I didn't go back an do them is because I got occupied by other games. Its all about having the right equipment and/or knowing what you have to do (time limits, ect) I'd say its definitly 5 times easier then finishing all vr/alternate missions on MGS2S.

Actually no. You get Raikov's mask on your starting inventory anyway. The only difference is "I Like MGS2" makes it so that the mask is equipped during the starting cutscene, while choosing anything else will just put it on your backpack.

"I Like MGS3", on the other hand, gives you Brown facepaint, all national facepaints, Desert Tiger, Auscam and Fleckstern camos.

I still don't know if Duel Mode will be included in the game. If it is, the MGS3 achievement list will be significantly harder to 500G. You'll have to beat all Duel Mode and Special Duel Mode with top score on all of them for Green face paint and DPM camo. (and I'll have to edit the guide once again)

I'm trying to refresh my memory here but tell if im wrong here.

I remember at the end you have a revolver duel with ocelot in the plane and given a choice of two revolvers and i remember that i was always told to pick the right one for a specific reason but that complete escapes me.

Enlightment would be ace.

If you choose the gun on the right, you get the SAA for your next playthrough. This is not necessary for any achievement, however.
