Live Trigger Rewards Guide

 

This guide contains slight spoilers and one MAJOR spoiler in Episode 5. Read at your own risk!

In Final Fantasy XIII-2 there are scenes where you actively choose a conversation path. This guide will detail the conditions and optimum answers that lead to treasure box rewards. This guide will not specify the responses you receive from your answers, only which to pick to optimize your rewards. Also in this guide, the whole question will be shown, and in some cases, can give insight to the current story (aka spoilers). I suggest you follow this after you beat the game except for Archylte Steppe (there is a missable adornment there), as to avoid any unnecessary spoilers. If you do use this as you play for the first time, I suggest not reading the questions until you get to that general part of the storyline.

 

All rewards are Adornments for your monsters unless you do not meet requirements(see below).

A few points to make about the Live Triggers:

  • There are two conditions that unlock the Live Trigger rewards. They are: 1). The number of individual questions answered. 2). The selection of specific "funny" responses.
  • If you do not meet the requirements, you are given a Potion as a reward instead.
  • For Live Trigger scenes, you are not allowed to skip preceding cut scenes (pressing START and skipping scenes), as this skips the Live Trigger as well. You are, though, allowed to skip any following scenes.
  • You can return to completed areas to obtain Live Trigger rewards by closing the Gates to replay events from the Main Story. Some Live Triggers will be unavailable on these "second playthroughs" but there are enough of them to receive the optimum rewards.
  • Your previous answers may be replaced by "extended" answers on these repeat playthroughs. The Paradox Scope Fragment Skill can also lead to new answers.
  • To close a gate, you must have found the corresponding Artefact. Once in the Historia Crux, before choosing to go to the Time Period, you press :rbbut: to close the gate, restarting the story of the area. Enter while the gate is closed. Also, to do this, you must be in the Gate Matrix view, the one where they are bonded by the order of progression, not the simple listing of different areas.
  • To get all Adornments possible, places with multiple rewards must be played multiple times to get the awards. In other words, you can only receive one reward at a time.

Extended Answers: Answers that replace old ones that you have previously chosen, since the game keeps track of which ones you choose.

 

Paradox Scope Fragment Skill: Received from Serendipity (casino) once you complete the main storyline. This can also lead to the appearance of new dialogue options.

TE: When Serah leaves the NORA house.

Q: "Where's the village? Everything out here is completely different. What is this place?"

TE: On the way to the meteorite, talk to Noel before the Mog Clock Tutorial.

Q: "This strange young man says he met with Lightning in Valhalla. I need to find out more."

FA: "What is a moogle anyway?"* "What's your favorite food?"*

 

TE: On the way to the meteorite, talk to Noel.

Q: "Noel is staring at Cocoon like he's seeing it for the first time. What to say?"

TE: On the way to the meteorite, talk to Gadot.

Q: "Gadot seems concerned for Serah's saftey. How should Noel respond to Gadot's distrust?"

FA: "This boss sounds like a bully!" "I thought you were the boss" "I'll be sure to pass that on to Snow!"*

 

TE: On the way to the meteorite, talk to Yuj.

Q: "Yuj seems curious about my new attire. What should I tell him?"

FA: "You want to try them on?" "I wore this for you!"*

 

TE: On the way to the meteorite, talk to Maqui.

Q: "After the meteorite hit, different realities started bleeding into ours. Let's ask Marqui what he thinks."

FA: "Where did the moogle come from?" "Where did Noel come from?"*

 

 

New Bodhum -003 AF- Next Day

Conditions and Rewards

  • Answer eleven LTs: Aqua Ribbon
  • Answer eleven LTs with four or more FA: Summery Parasol

 

TE: Talk to Lebreau

Q: "Lebreau was injured saving me yesterday. She looks fine this morning, so how do I respond?"

FA: "Good morning, kupo!" "Give me some cooking tips!"*

 

TE: Talk to Noel on the beach before obtaining any of the prospective "Artefacts".

Q: "Noel wants to search for an 'artefact' to open a 'gate'. Maybe I should find out more..."

FA: -

 

TE: Talk to Noel after finding one item.

Q: "An artefact is something that we know 'doesn't' exist in this time. What else can Noel tell me?"

FA: "Are you an artefact!?"*

 

TE: Talk to Noel on the way back after collecting the two items.

Q: "Noel 's asking me about Snow. How should I answer him?"

FA: "He's like this really cool guy!" "It's my cat's name!"*

 

TE: After catching the cat, Snow.

Q: "Noel says that my friends have become like family. How do I respond to that?"

FA: "The cat is my only family!" "Are you a cat person or a dog person?"

 

TE: Talk to the children while searching for the Artefact.

Q: "In the future world, Noel's grandmother was also his teacher. What should I ask him?"

FA: -

 

TE: Strike up a conversation in the vegetable garden in the southwest of the map.

Q: "In the future, Noel said he was the last human left. What do I say to that...?"

FA: "So, you're like an endangered animal?"

 

TE: Examine the knife.

Q: "Only I remember Lightning being there on the plain. Why don't the others?"

FA: -

 

TE: Talk to the boy who took the necklace.

Q: "This boy's hiding something. What approach would work best...?"

FA: "I'll buy you lunch for a year!"

 

TE: Talk to the boy who took the necklace (2nd Live Trigger).

Q: "Mabe if I give it one more shot, I think I can get him talking."

FA: -

 

TE: Got the necklace.

Q: "Snow has been gone for a long time. Noel wonders why I didn't go after him. How should I reply?"

Q: "We've been taken prisoner by a group known as the Academy. Let's see what we can find out from the guard."

Q: "The elevator wasn't anywhere near completion, but he says its been operational since last year. How is that possible?"

FA: "Am I remembering things wrong?"

TE: After leaving the cell.

Q: "A girl named Alyssa lied to a soldier to set us free. We need some answers."

TE: Examine the first gate.

Q: "We need a key to open the gate. What's something that doesn't belong in the time...?"

FA: "Alyssa?" "Mog!?"*

 

TE: Examine the gate in the south tunnel.

Q: "These gates may be appearing in other places in the timeline. What are they and why did they appear?"

FA: "They're really useful portals!"

 

TE: After Serah and Noel set eyes on Atlas.

Q: "We either fight Atlas head-on, or take out chances with the device. Before I decide, how do I reply?"

FA: "What does Mog think?" "You decide, Noel."*

 

TE: At the northwest end of the ruins.

Q: "In the future, it's taught that Cocoon fell to Pulse during a war. What should I ask Noel to clarify?"

FA: "Stop joking around!" "Listen to the voice."**

 

TE: After the battle against the weakened Atlas.

Q: "The paradox may have been caused by someone meddling in history. Let's think about that."

FA: "Listen to the voice."

Q: "Why is the eclipse only happening here? Let's see what Noel/Serah thinks..."

FA: "Boredom?"

 

TE: After defeating Aloeidai, speak to Hope twice.

Q: "Hope wonders if I have any questions about this world, now seven years in the future."

FA: "Why are you so grown up?" "You boss around girls your own age?" *

 

TE: Talk to Hope by the ramp leading to the command center.

Q: "After meeting with me again, Hope seems lost in memories. What should we talk about?"

Q: "Hope has been analyzing the Oracle Drive and the images that appear to be Lightning. What should I ask him?"

Q: "Noel seems troubled about something. He says it's personal. How should I respond?"

FA: "Are you worried about the gate?" "Bothered by the moogle?" *

  • Answer both LTs: Whimsical Headdress
  • Answer both LTs with a FA: Yellow Propeller

 

TE: Collect the artefact.

Q: "The paradox is solved and an artefact has appeared. But questions still remain..."

FA: "How much would the artefact sell for?"

 

TE: Use the Artefact to open the Gate.

Q: "Noel is upset about Yeul. He wonders why I don't ask him about her. What should I say to him?"

FA: "Sorry, I drifted off." "Do you want me to ask?" * (possibly incorrect information, need confirmation)

 

 

Yaschas Massif -01X AF-

 

'The Fall' Gate Seal used to close Yaschas Massif -01X AF- received in Serendipity

 

Conditions and Rewards

  • Answer all three LTs: Academic's Hat
  • Answer all three LTs with two or more FA: Red Silk Hat

 

TE: Talk to Serah/Noel as you ascend the first cliff.

Q: "Yeul said that if you change the future, you change the past. But what exactly does that mean?"

FA: "Isn't that how it works?"

 

TE: Talk to Serah/Noel after talking to Yeul before entering the ruins.

Q: "I met another girl with the same name and face as Yeul from the future. What could it mean?"

FA: "Does Yeul have a twin?"

 

TE: Talk to Hope after seeing the Oracle Drive.

Q: "How should you interpret the images shown by the Oracle Drive? You decide to ask Hope."

FA: -

TE: At the south end of the map, after defeating the Flan who were congregating around the Artefact.

Q:"Snow's friends are still trapped in the pillar. What should Noel ask him about?"

FA: "Feel like a song?"

To gain access to this location and the following one again, you must close Academia -4XX AF- first and redo the story there, using the gate like normal. Though the rewards in this episode are unmissable.

"Sazh: Heads or Tails?" DLC

In this DLC, you are given Live Triggers that, if not answered correctly the first time, won't give you their rewards. 2 of the rewards are just coins, so it isn't much to miss out on. Also, closing the gate here works to get the coins if you missed them, BUT you cannot gather these prizes again (except the fortune medal).

 

Location: Next to the Chocobo Races building.

Question: "This little chocobo chick seems to be off in its own little world. What do you say?"

Answer: "Are you lost, little one?"

Reward: 100 casino coins

 

Location: At the entrance of the casino.

Question: "What do you say to the extremely shy chocobo chick?"

Answer: "Come with me!"

Reward: 500 casino coins

 

Location: On the unused card table.

Question: "The three chicks contradict each other. Which one is telling the truth?"

Answer: "Greed"

Reward: Fortune Medal

 

Location: Talk to Chocolina after gathering all 6 chocobo chicks.

Question: "What is the name and color of the chich that found hope in Sazh's afro?"

Answer: "The green-colored Sloth"

Reward: None

Just making sure to have enough room :p There are quite a lot of live triggers throughout the game. I probably won't complete this until late this weekend. I haven't beaten the game yet, but I hope to keep this guide up with the point I am at. I might actually need more due to the number of areas and time periods you go to! So I may need to ask you to delete your post, but hopefully not :)

As long as you aren't planning on typing out the entire conversations, you should have plenty of the space. The official guide has all the live triggers in the game on 3 pages that include location, text on screen, choice, and prize in a 4 column chart. Granted the font is pretty small, but if you plan out your guide well I'm sure you can easily fit it within those 12 posts (or less). Although I'm not sure what the character limit is per post...

As im spotting a fair deal of information so far, i would like to suggest compressing a lot of the stuff and making a shorthand list of things

 

 

1. Compressed Legend?

 

TE = Time Event (LT = Live Triggers)

Q = Question

FA = Funny Answer(s)

 

A compressed legend should bring down that character count by a lot as it appears to be just eating away at the character limit PER event, let alone per Time Location. (least by my perspective)

 

 

2. Removal of FA heading on certain events/triggers

 

I would also like to suggest removing any of the Funny Answer(s) listings from Time Events that do not have any funny answers. This should also bring the character count down by a lot as well.

 

 

FYI: Character limit is 10,000 or 100,000 (forget which) but it gets used up VERY quickly.

You can eventually get items called gate seals that let you close gates to replay sections. And even in those replays there will always be enough triggers and funny responses to receive the best rewards. Once you get a seal there will be a little into screen about all of this.

On the Yaschas Massif 10AF, there's a bit of a typo. Your guide says to answer all 5, but there are 6 in your list. I'm assuming that the first run through has all 6 and that one of them is missing after using a time reversal? Or did you just mean to say 6 instead of 5? Sorry if I missed it, but maybe you could do something to point out which options are gone after a time reversal? Like a change in font color or an asterisk?

Its just a typo. Fixing it now. Also, the ones with #MSO are gone after time reversal. I will change it to different color right now.

Weird, I followed 003AF Next Day and I did miss 1 encounter because I had no clue what was counting for the "items'. I don't think it would have been a spoiler to have mentioned what it was, and I would not have missed it if you mentioned it specifically instead of not listing it. I followed it and still missed it because I am also reading the strategy guide which had me go to the knife pretty quickly. I answered exactly 5 funny answers on that section and I only got a potion. The guide says 4 or more? Maybe it has to be a specific FA? I missed the event for "Are you an artifact?".

 

A very big question I have...what exactly do these things do and are they crucial to making the game easier or can these items be obtained in other ways (aka buying them)? I'm sure I'll find out, but the game has not really described these events nor mentioned the benefits. The strat guide mentions getting rewards for LT events, but does not go into much detail (at least in the regular walkthrough). Just curious if I should even bother with these, or enjoy the game.
